True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1857
No words could describe Michael's mood. He always thought that he and Cindy were using each other, and never really expected that he would ever feel any affection towards her. However, just as he was ready to leave, Cindy gave him a large sum of money, which was something he did not expect.
Michael was a little confused by that. He was not sure what kind of feelings Cindy really had for him.
There was even a moment where he thought that Cindy actually liked him.
At the very least, she might have had some feelings for him.
He always thought that a man should always do more for a woman when she was in need, especially when the man was indebted to the woman.
Only in this way could he express his gratitude and feelings for her. This was also something that a man should always do.
However, Michael now felt that everything he did for Cindy was a joke.
At that moment, his mood had plummeted.
When he saw the video, he felt quite hurt by it.
In the end, the person Cindy liked most was still Heinz.
Despite being in a relationship for so long, Michael realized he had never really understood Cindy's true feelings.
He really did not understand what was so great about Heinz. Maybe he was a bit more handsome, was richer and in slightly better shape than he was, right?
What else could there be?
If there really was a need for them to be compared, he was not that bad either.
In fact, Sinclair was not that bad either. At the very least, he seemed refined. He had great abilities, and he was really rich too.
Michael used to think that Cindy loved Sinclair the most. However, the truth was that she did not love Sinclair at all.
The person she yearned for the most was still Heinz.
Originally, Michael wanted to live in seclusion after returning to the country and had never thought about anything else.
However, soon after, he learned from the news that Cindy was disfigured and had been sent back by the international police. She was currently awaiting her trial and verdict.
At that time, he suddenly thought that he should be doing something. He thought that she had suffered enough after being disfigured and living abroad. Why did they have to send her back?
The action of bringing her back made Michael feel that Heinz and his family were all too cruel. Why go so far just for a single woman?
Therefore, the little bit of self-esteem he had left prompted him to act quickly. He wanted to do something to stand up for Cindy.
Hence, he did his best to investigate their past. Of course, he had always known a thing or two about their past.
Michael knew that Cindy had always wanted Heinz.
He knew that the Jones family had won a trial in taking guardianship of Celeste from Cindy, her only adopted daughter.
He also knew about the grudges between Grace and Simon.
Now, it seemed that Simon had been bribed by Heinz too.
In just the short span of a single day, he fell into this state. It was frankly unbelievable.
Michael fell into a train of deep thoughts. The Jones family was so superb and he was no match for them. Similarly, Heinz was indeed powerful for using the videos to threaten the relationship between Michael and Cindy.
It was clear that Heinz's plan was a success.
Whenever Michael saw Cindy calling out for Heinz despite being with other men, he felt extremely upset.
Michael knew that Cindy had a lot of affairs with other men.
All this while, he thought that she was just playing around with them.
There was no true love between them.
But now, he knew that the person she loved most was still Heinz.
Looking at the video, Michael let out a bitter laugh. It seemed that he had always been a joke.
It turned out that after so many years, he and Cindy never had any real relationship and they were just using each other. He did not expect himself to be the one to fall in love first. How ridiculous. He had tried to woo Cindy but standing up for her, but look how things had ended?
Michael just stared blankly at the video, only coming to his senses after the entire clip had ended. He had taken in every single second of it.
The video was a series of compilations.
In every short clip, Cindy had been calling Heinz's name.
This woman had thought of every man she had as Heinz.
Michael could not help but doubt himself. Had Cindy only thought of him as Heinz's substitute for the past few years?
Or were all the men she had treated well just Heinz's substitute?
Did that mean that she loved Heinz? Or did she love Sinclair?
This was a question that really confused him. His initial resentment, anger, regret and hurt from being deceived gradually faded away.
Michael's feelings towards her had officially come to an end.
He looked at the scenes in the video and felt that it was extremely ironic. After that, he glanced at Clinton, who was watching the scenes beside him.
Even Clinton looked at the woman with arrogance. It was as if he felt nothing but deep scorn for the woman whose love life was so messy. Michael realized that he was not acting as calm as he wanted to, and definitely not as calm as Heinz's mere bodyguard. He scoffed. "You guys are really slick to show me such a video. I have to admit that it's a smart move."
Clinton glanced at him and asked calmly, "So, how do you feel after watching it?"
Michael shrugged, "Frankly speaking, it doesn't feel good at all. Heinz is really cruel to know which plugs to pull to hurt me."
Clinton just chuckled politely, "Of course, if he is unable to do so, he will just be wasting his efforts. If the intent to help Cindy still does not dissipate after watching this, let me show you another video." When he heard that, Michael immediately shook his head and refused, "There's no need to."
He really didn't want to see anymore of that.
However, Clinton insisted and played another video, smiling as he said, "Let's take a look. Besides, we have the time to waste. Why don't we watch something to kill the time? Otherwise, it will be too boring." Right after Clinton finished saying that, he played the clip.
It was a video of Cindy's hospitalization. The video was taken during her last meeting with Heinz in a ward.
To be honest, whatever Cindy had said was just her channeling her inner thoughts. Back then, Alex had acted under Heinz's orders and secretly recorded the entire conversation.
Michael felt that this video was even more ridiculous, since it was a video of Cindy professing her love for Heinz, yet ending up being ignored. However, she still liked Heinz, which made Michael even angrier. Michael squinted at the scene in the video and did not say anything for a long time. Clinton glanced at him and realized that Michael was deep in thoughts, but no one knew what he was thinking.
Meanwhile, Heinz was waiting aside leisurely since he was not in a rush at all. He was sure of Michael's reaction after seeing the video.
As of now, Heinz had a better understanding of how to deal with the situation.
If these videos were not enough to dispel Michael's intent to take revenge, it could only prove how shallow Michael was as a person.
However, Heinz believed that Michael was a smart man. Perhaps he was the same as Simon, who was just in a temporary state of confusion.
In conclusion, Heinz did not believe that Michael was a person who would do selfless deeds for a relationship that wouldn't bear results. Michael did not look like someone who would sacrifice himself. Heinz was sure of this, which was why he showed Michael those two videos.
The video was probably about to end in a while.
Heinz was not in a hurry and instead, looked pretty nonchalant. He even boiled some water and made himself a pot of tea, sipping at it leisurely while waiting for the next move.
Not long after, Clinton came back and reported to him, "President Jones, Michael Grayson has finished watching the videos. He wants to have a chat with you."
Heinz smiled and told Clinton, "Let him wait. I'm not in a hurry."
"Yes sir," Clinton waited respectfully on one side since he was not in a rush as well.
Besides, this was an order from his boss. Since Heinz had his own plans, all Clinton needed to do was execute it perfectly.
Unexpectedly, half an hour had passed waiting.
Michael's patience had grown thin. Eventually, he shouted from inside the room, "Where is Heinz? Why hasn't he come to see me yet? It's been so long, so why isn't he here yet?"
All the while, Clinton and Heinz had been waiting outside. Upon hearing the shouts, Clinton subconsciously looked at Heinz.
Heinz picked up the small cup of tea and took a sip. He was still not anxious at all.
Some time had passed, and Michael was still shouting.
Heinz was still very patient. He smiled and asked Clinton, "Clinton, how much patience does an average person have?"
"It depends on the person," Clinton replied.
Heinz smiled at him.
He was satisfied with the answer.
"It does depend on the person, but when one is angry, they will rarely have patience. That is especially true for someone who's angry but has to wait patiently. That will only burn his patience quicker," Heinz took another sip of tea before he put down the cup.
Clinton nodded, "Yes, I will keep that in mind."
Heinz had used the same tactic against Simon and Michael. From that, Clinton could tell that Heinz clearly understood what it took to wear down a person's patience.
Clinton was in awe of Heinz's strategic plans.
"No need to worry. Just let him scream and shout until he is out of energy," Heinz remarked leisurely, "Clinton, here, have a cup of tea."
As Heinz said that, he poured Clinton a cup of tea.
Clinton was stunned before walking over respectfully. He accepted the cup with both hands and said, "Thank you, President Jones."
"Heinz, what are you doing? Come inside quickly. I want to talk to you. Do you hear me?" Michael was still shouting at the top of his lungs.
However, Heinz and Clinton were not in a hurry at all.
Clinton drank the cup of tea in one breath.
Heinz laughed, "Clinton, tea is supposed to be tasted slowly. Don't drink it in such a hurry."
Clinton felt very embarrassed and smiled sheepishly, "President Jones, I am but a lowly person. How would I know anything about the etiquettes of drinking tea? I can only tell whether it tastes good or not." "Then does it taste good?" Heinz looked at him and asked.
Clinton nodded, "It does taste good."
"Well then, take your time. It will taste even better that way."
"Yes," Clinton smiled and looked at Heinz in embarrassment, "President Jones, I am unable to learn such dainty etiquettes. As I have said, I am of a lower class. How would I know so much about drinking tea?"
"If you work under me, you are bound to learn many new things. You should start picking up some basic etiquette. After all, you can't be stuck doing the dirty work all the time. Am I right?" Heinz looked at him and smirked.
Clinton was stunned. He knew that Heinz was trying to help him.
Almost immediately, he nodded respectfully, "Thank you for enlightening me. I will be sure to learn as much as I can in the future."
"Good. Alright then. Go inside and see Michael."
"Yes."
Michael was still shouting endlessly. He seemed very impatient and angry.
Clinton opened the door and bellowed, "Why are you shouting? Do you think you can meet the president just because you want to? Do you think you can talk to him just because you feel like it? Who here has so much time to waste on you?"
Michael was stunned. He gritted his teeth and growled, "Don't play games with me, I just want to know what he means by doing this. He just wants me to compromise, doesn't he? You can go ahead and tell him that I agree to his terms."
Clinton interrupted Michael without even blinking, "Even if you want to agree to our president's conditions, you have to wait. Just keep waiting patiently here. Why are you spouting so much nonsense?" Michael felt greatly helpless. In the end, the only thing he could do was wait.
He knew that he was in a tough position right now.
Finally, he managed to calm down.
"Okay, If that's the case, I can wait. I will wait for Heinz to come and meet me," Michael was a lot calmer when compared to Simon.
When he saw Clinton, he managed to compose himself.
Not long after, Heinz came in.
When he saw Michael, Heinz just smiled, "Have you thought it through? Do you know what you have to do next?"
Michael glanced at Heinz, and their gazes met. A while later, Michael chuckled softly, "So what if I can't figure it out? Are you going to torment me further? Well, I admit defeat now. I won't be your enemy anymore."
