Grace Smith took out her phone and dialed 911 again. "You don't have to send an ambulance anymore. We're going to the hospital by ourselves. Please have the best gynecologist ready for us and do everything you can to keep the baby."

The operator asked over the phone, "How far along in the pregnancy has it been?"

Grace said, "Probably three months."

"Alright, I'll ask the gynecologist to be on standby right away."

"Thank you." After making the rational arrangements, she saw Simon Brown look at her via the rearview mirror as he drove. His gaze was sharp and complicated.

Grace paused for a moment and glanced at him. Then, she pretended not to see him and turned her face away.

It had been a long time since she had any feelings for Simon.

Grace did not expect Simon to judge and regard her with so much suspicion. The years they spent together during their childhood had all been in vain. It was as if he didn't know her character at all.

When she looked at him now, there were only indifference and void of feelings.

Simon noticed that she didn't look at him. So, he gripped the steering wheel tightly and drove the car.

Marry Smith appeared to still be bleeding heavily.

Grace didn't say anything. They were arriving at the hospital soon.

Then, Marry was pushed into the emergency operating theatre of the Gynaecology Department.

Grace, Simon, and Alice waited outside.

No one spoke.

Grace stood there quietly and was very calm.

Simon came over and looked at Grace. He said, "Grace."

Grace looked at him with clear eyes and did not avert her glance.

Simon looked into her eyes and didn't expect her eyes to be so clear, clean, and fearless.

He suddenly muttered in his heart, "If she did something bad, she wouldn't be able to look at me with such clear eyes."

It seemed that she was innocent. That was why she could look him right in the eyes.

Grace had been waiting for Simon to speak, but since he didn't say anything, they just stared at each other.

Alice Smith couldn't bear to watch anymore. She rushed over and shouted at Simon, "What are you doing? Why are you looking at my sister?" Simon suddenly came to his senses and looked at Alice. He paused for a second and turned to Grace, asking, "Did you really do it?"

Grace pursed her lips, felt mocked, and said coldly,

"No."

From this question, she could tell that he regarded her with suspicion. Therefore, she gave up hope on the matter.

"Simon, I live up to my own conscience. I know what I'm doing and that God is watching. Believe it or not," Grace said righteously. "If your child is gone, I'm so sorry, but it is not my fault."

"Then why did she accuse you?" Simon asked subconsciously.

Grace smiled bitterly again. "You have to ask Mary this. I don't know what she was thinking."

Simon was stunned and was full of doubt. "Grace, did you really not do it?"

He sounded like he just wanted to be sure.

Again, Grace reassured him coldly, "No."

At this moment, the door of the operating theatre opened and the doctor came out with blood-soaked gloves. He raised both his hands and said, "Unfortunately, the baby couldn't be saved. It was only the thirty fifth day of the pregnancy, so it was not very stable. In addition, her constitution was not excellent. There were earlier signs of a looming miscarriage. What was more, she was wearing high heels. That was very careless of her."

"Gone?" Simon was stunned. His eyes were widened and he seemed heavily wounded. "Is it really gone?"

"Yes, it's gone. The bleeding stopped and she will be out soon," the doctor said. "After her body recuperates, she can try for a child again."

"Doctor, is the baby only 35 days old?" Grace asked doubtfully.

Marry had sought her out two weeks ago. If what the doctor said was true, how could she have known that she was pregnant then?

Did she pretend to be pregnant then without realizing that she really was pregnant?

"Yes, thirty-five days. The scientific test data can't be wrong," the doctor explained to Grace seriously.

"Then, is it possible for her to have known that she was pregnant two weeks ago?"

"Two weeks ago?" the doctor said. "I don't think so. Unless she did a blood test, there are usually no symptoms within three weeks." Grace nodded. "Okay, thank you."

The doctor left.

Simon looked at her in a daze and he panicked. "Gone... The child is gone."

Grace said, "I'm sorry for your loss."

"Grace, you are cruel." Simon raised his hand and slapped Grace's face.

At that moment, Grace was completely shocked.

Alice retorted angrily, "What are you doing, Simon?"

Simon's slap had Grace's face twisted to one side, and her face was red.

The next second, Grace raised her hand and consecutively slapped Simon twice across the face, one on each side.

Simon was stunned.

"How dare you hit me?" He was dumbfounded. Looking at Grace, he yelled, "How dare you do this to me?"

Grace slapped him twice again.

Simon did not avoid the slaps this time either.

Palm prints immediately appeared on his handsome face.

"You deserve it." Alice stepped forward and looked at him warily, fearing that he would bully her sister.

Grace stared into Simon's eyes. It seemed that it was not until this moment that she saw through him.

She enunciated, "Simon Brown, your child is gone and that's your own problem. I have a clear conscience. You can't tell right from wrong, and yet you want to hit me. I'm not going to let you treat me this way." "Yes, we don't buy it," said Alice who was next to her. "Even if you want to hit my sister, you have to ask for my permission first."

"Alice, let's ignore this crazy man. Let's go." Grace turned around and left.

"Yes, let's go." Alice hurried to catch up with Grace.

The two of them left together.

The more Alice thought about it, the angrier she became. 'Although her child is gone and the child is innocent, she deserved it and can only blame herself. I really don't understand what they are thinking." Grace looked at the path to the hospital entrance and said, "She probably didn't realize that she was pregnant before. Yet, she lied to me and claimed that she was pregnant. However, she really was pregnant today but still lost it.

I suppose she thought that she was the smart one. But her plan actually backfired and she shot herself in the foot. That was probably the case."

"Is that so?" Alice was stunned. "Sister, did you know that she was pregnant before?"

"She told me so two weeks ago," Grace said. "At that time, she pretended to be pregnant. Now that she's really pregnant, she actually lost her baby." "Sister, let's not think about it anymore. I don't think it's necessary to waste energy on such a person. It's not worth it."

"You're right."

The two of them walked to the door together.

Suddenly, a tall figure appeared at the door. Grace saw that the man was standing at the door and looking at her.

From a distance, their eyes met. She could easily see the dazzling light in his eyes which were locked on her.
