True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1892
"Why exactly are you doing this?" Sebastian stopped in his tracks as he stared at her. "Tell me all your motives and everything, and I might consider this."
Sylvia immediately looked embarrassed as if she was guilty. "Sebastian, it's my privacy."
Upon hearing that, Sebastian was about to walk away again.
Sylvia then got anxious. "Sebastian, wait, don't leave."
"Sylvia, let's make this clear. You're the one asking for my help." Sebastian looked faintly at her.
Sylvia was indeed begging him for help.
Sebastian could tell that Sylvia was being genuine and humble that time.
He wondered what made her stop being her usual arrogant self.
His intuition told him that it was definitely not something trivial.
There must be something Sylvia was hiding from him. She wouldn't suddenly start being studious.
Who was was influencing her?
Was it Kendrix?
"Sebastian, I'm begging for your help now. Regardless, I still can't tell you everything, but I do want to rank first this time. I know I wouldn't be able to make it within such a short time no matter how hard I try as the finals are already approaching. Please, just go easy on me and let me rank first this time. This would be a start for me too." Sylvia begged again.
Sebastian narrowed his eyes at her. "Sylvia, there must be a reason why you want to rank first so badly, am I right?"
Sylvia looked awkward. "Do you have to know everything?"
Sebastian nodded. "I must know everything. I have to know if it's worth me giving up my first place."
"If I tell you about it, can you keep this a secret then?" Sylvia felt that she was left with no choice but to tell him since he was being stubborn. He wouldn't try to understand her otherwise. That seemed like the only way to get through him.
"Sure," Sebastian said.
Sylvia thought seriously for a moment before gathering her courage to say, "Mr. Trevino said that he will fulfil me one wish if I get to rank first this time."
"Kendrix?" Sebastian raised his eyebrows.
"Yes," Sylvia replied.
Sebastian looked at her attentively.
Sylvia was also staring at him.
They were staring at each other by the pond.
"Are you doing this just because of that?" Sebastian asked again.
"Yes. You know, I want to be able to get into the police academy and be a police officer in the future. This is the perfect opportunity for me, so for sure I want to cherish it," Sylvia explained, "Sebastian, now that I've told you, you have to go easy on me this time. Please just be kind to me."
"However, I don't think you can even rank second with the standard that you have right now," Sebastian said faintly, "I'm not the only top student in this school. Even if I agree to help you, you still have other top students fighting for the first place."
Sylvia looked upset. "What should I do then? Does that mean I wouldn't be able to get my wish fulfilled by Mr. Trevino then?"
Sebastian shrugged. "That's your problem."
Sylvia was about to cry.
"Sebastian, can't you do me a favor?" She asked.
"It's too late. I can help you with the next semester," Sebastian said, "I know you. I'm sure if you work hard for the next semester, you can at least rank top ten."
"That's all I get for working hard the whole semester? Top ten?" Sylvia questioned as she exclaimed.
"Don't forget that everyone else has been working hard for many years," Sebastian looked at Sylvia indifferently and reminded her, "Just look at me. I've been studying hard since kindergarten." Sylvia was speechless as she looked at him.
"The lights are about to go out. I'm heading home. You should figure this out yourself," Sebastian left as he said that.
"I will work harder. I refuse to believe I can't achieve this," Sylvia shouted behind him.
Sebastian waved his hand and left without even looking back.
Upon reaching home, Sebastian saw Heinz and Gary standing in the yard.
Sebastian felt strange. Why would those two be waiting outside in the cold weather?
He asked the driver to pull over as he got out of the car.
"Dad, Gary, why are you two standing outside?"
Sebastian greeted them.
"We are waiting for you." Gary smiled.
Heinz nodded. "Sebastian, I need a few minutes of your time. I have something to ask you."
Sebastian was taken aback. "Sure."
"Why don't we talk inside?" Gary gestured. "It's a little cold outside."
"Let's head inside then." Heinz walked ahead.
They went to the study.
Sebastian asked once they entered the room, "Dad, what's the matter? Just tell me."
"Sebastian," Heinz paused as he was thinking of an excuse, "Is your sister all right in school today? Is there anything strange about her?" Sebastian was once again startled. He stared at Heinz and at Gary. He hesitated before asking, "Dad, why are you asking me this suddenly?" "Just tell me first. Don't keep me guessing," Heinz said. "How is your sister doing in school?"
"She's fine." Sebastian was being honest. Sylvia indeed had been staying out of trouble recently.
"Is there nothing unusual?" Heinz asked again.
Sebastian pondered for a moment before replying, "There is."
"What is it then? Tell me now!" Heinz immediately became nervous and looked at Sebastian with more expectations in his gaze.
He couldn't wait to hear about what it was.
Sebastian then said, "She pulled me aside today when I finish school today and told me that she wants to rank in first place for our finals this time.
I found this strange."
He thought that it was fine to bring it up to Heinz as it wasn't a big matter, even though it was indeed a strange thing for Sylvia to ask of him.
Heinz knew that Sylvia didn't like studying. She was smart, but she didn't bother to put enough efforts into her studies. She was all right in her studies, but she could actually ace her exams if she actually worked for it.
"Does she want to rank first?" Heinz was a little surprised.
He shifted his gaze to look at Gary, who was also surprised and doubting Sebastian's words.
"Sebastian, why do you think she's saying this?" He asked.
Sebastian agreed to keep Sylvia's secret.
She wanted to rank first because of Kendrix. Sebastian naturally wouldn't tell that to Heinz and Gary. So, he just shook his head.
"I think it's a good thing that she wants to focus on her studies," Sebastian said.
"Of course it's a good thing if she wants to strive for the first place, but it's a little strange that she's suddenly setting this goal for herself," Gary muttered. He then gave Heinz an unfathomable smile. Heinz frowned. He was very concerned.
He had a feeling that the reason Sylvia was acting like so strangely must be because of a certain someone.
She didn't have to tell Sebastian about it if she just suddenly realized that she should study harder. She just needed to work hard for no one else but herself.
Something was not right since she actually told Sebastian about it.
Heinz cleared his throat and looked at Sebastian. "That Kendrix guy, is he a good teacher?"
Sebastian nodded. "Mr. Trevino is very good, and he is so much better than the previous teacher. His teaching is interesting and he's knowledgeable. I'm actually impressed."
"It sounds like you think highly of him too." Heinz knew that Sebastian had high standards. He didn't usually speak much, and had only been speaking more then that he had grown up.
Sebastian's great remarks on Kendrix that day once again proved that Kendrix indeed was outstanding and had his own charisma.
It seemed that he shouldn't underestimate Kendrix.
"Dad, Mr. Trevino is a great teacher. Our class hopes that he can stay for a couple more months as our teacher too. It would be best if he could stay and be our teacher for good," Sebastian said. Heinz twitched his lips. If Kendrix was going to continue to stay in their school, Heinz was really going to develop a high blood pressure.
"See, Kendrix is indeed a great guy," Gary praised, "He's indeed someone outstanding."
"Yes." Sebastian nodded.
Gary smiled as he looked at Sebastian. "Perhaps Sylvia is aiming to rank first because of Kendrix."
Sebastian was startled. He looked away from Gary, then shook his head. "I don't know about this."
Gary smiled deeply.
Sebastian immediately felt guilty as he saw Gary's smile, and he let out an awkward laugh.
However, Sebastian didn't say anything.
Heinz asked again, "Do you think Sylvia can get first placethen?"
Sebastian shook his head. "Nope."
"Why?" Heinz asked.
"That's because I will rank first," Sebastian said confidently.
Heinz was startled and then laughed. "That's true.
I almost forgot that you are the actual top student."
