"I'm pissed that you don't believe me," Ernest replied in a low voice.

"No, it's not that I don't trust you. I just can't believe that I would have such good luck." Leah looked at the sour expression on Ernest's face. He looked angry, so she hurriedly tugged on his sleeve. Her tone was placating as she said, "Fine, stop being mad! I'm sorry, okay?"

Ernest glanced at Leah, as if he didn't want to talk to her.

Leah whispered, "Okay, I was wrong. Don't be mad, okay?"

Ernest took a deep breath and looked at her. "You didn't want to have too much sex, so I kept it all in to go on a date with you. We're going to dinner and a movie and you're asking if I have feelings for you?" Leah nodded. "You do, you really do."

"I do what?" Ernest asked.

"You do have feelings for me, you also desire me." Leah blushed when she answered. "You have to have feelings before you have desire. Having one

without the other is abnormal."

Ernest gave her a look. Obviously, her answer pleased him.

The angry haze on his face faded and he looked at Leah more gently.

Leah saw it and she tried placating him more. "All right, stop being mad okay? Let's go, we can't stop here for too long."

Ernest stared at Leah with a fierce expression.

Leah shook his arm like a little girl. "Don't be mad, please?"

Ernest was in no rush to leave.

Faced with no choice, Leah went forward and gave Ernest a chaste kiss on the lips.

Ernest's eyes flashed with happiness and he smiled faintly.

Nevertheless, he kept his cool and said, "Stay away from me. I'm scared you'll say that I'm using you for s*x. You kissed me first this time."

He meant that this was all Leah's idea.

Leah was stunned and she blushed. She retreated and said, "Then just drive. People are honking because we're holding up traffic."

Ernest started up the car and continued driving to the restaurant.

However, there was a gentle smile in his eyes as he drove.

It seemed that Leah was almost at her breaking point.

Perhaps his efforts were not in vain.

When Leah kissed him earlier, Ernest wanted to take her right there and then.

However, he stopped himself when he remembered their previous agreement.

Leah was going to be the one who caved first, not him.

Meanwhile, at the restaurant...

When they arrived, Leah realized that Ernest had booked a themed restaurant.

This was a restaurant that catered to couples. Almost all their customers there were couples.

Moreover, he'd booked the entire upper floor.

There weren't going to be any interruptions to their date.

Leah couldn't help but whisper to Ernest when she saw the deserted restaurant. "This is weird. The internet says that this is Northern City's best restaurant for a romantic night out. It's supposed to be full every day, why is it empty now?"

Ernest just smiled mysteriously.

At that moment, the waiter came over and said, "Hello, Mr. Jones, we have cleared the floor for you as per your instructions."

Ernest nodded. "Let's just proceed as planned."

"Okay. Mr. Jones and Miss Winston, please come in." The waiter led Leah and Ernest to the table right in the center of the second floor.

Leah was dumbfounded.

There was a large bouquet of red roses on the table.

At a glance, she guessed there were 99 of them.

She was taken aback by the romantic scene.

Leah felt a little flattered.

What was Ernest doing?

She looked at Ernest suspiciously. Meanwhile, he'd walked over to the table and pulled out the chair for her. He acted very gentlemanly indeed.

"Please sit," said Ernest.

Leah was shocked and lowered her head to look at herself. She felt that she was underdressed for the occasion.

They were eating at such a beautiful restaurant.

She heard that the couples who visited this restaurant needed to wear something fancy.

Leah sat down. It all felt very surreal to her.

Ernest walked to the opposite side and sat down, not taking his eyes off her.

The roses on the table were beautiful and fragrant.

Leah took a deep breath, the strong scent of roses wafting into her nose.

"Do you like it?" asked Ernest.

Leah was still in a daze. She looked at the roses blankly and nodded. Her eyes were colored with surprise and a bit of shyness.

It was the first time that she received such a large bouquet of roses.

"It's a really large bouquet, Ernest." Leah complimented them sincerely.

"They're from Belgeria. The restaurant's arranged for 99 of them to be in this bouquet," Ernest replied.

Leah paused for a moment. She'd estimated that exact number earlier.

Even so, she was very delighted to hear that number.

99 roses symbolized Ernest's eternal love for her.

Leah had no idea that Ernest also wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

She came back to her senses quickly, beaming happily at Ernest.

"Why have you suddenly become so romantic? Are you afraid I'd run away?"

Ernest was stunned by the question and he frowned.

Well, it was true. He did feel a bit threatened when he saw the photos Clinton sent earlier.

He felt that he wouldn't be able to keep Norval away if he didn't do anything.

He wanted Leah to be happy and he wanted Norval to give up.

"Do you like it?" Ernest's tone was a rich, low timbre.

Leah shivered slightly. Did his voice need to be that sexy?

She nearly melted into a puddle.

She looked at him dumbly. On the other hand, Ernest's eyes were filled with deep affection for her.

She nodded. "I like it very, very very, very, very much."

She couldn't help repeating the word to illustrate how much she enjoyed the surprise.

Ernest laughed when he heard her say that.

It seemed that women really enjoyed romantic things.

In the future, he needed to surprise Leah with more romantic gestures to make up for lost time.

He believed that the news of them going on a date would reach Norval.

He knew the man's character. Norval would definitely have someone follow them if he hadn't given up on Leah.

As expected, Ernest's guess was correct.

Norval knew about Leah and Ernest going on a date. He was also aware of the romantic surprise Ernest had prepared.

He received the news while in the car and his lips curled up in a mocking smile.

Meanwhile, Sieara had returned to the Qualls family home with him.

Norval made sure his stepmother was safe in the house before he drove out again.

He was alone in the car. Norval's eyes gleamed as he looked at the photo on his phone. However, the light faded from his eyes quickly, replaced with a helpless look.

He swiped at the photos then paused as his slender fingers landed on Leah's face.

Leah's eyes were fixed on the huge bunch of roses and she had a beautiful grin on her face.

He narrowed his eyes and made a call. "Have we

managed to bribe the Wells family?"

After hearing the reply, Norval said, "I want a full report by tomorrow morning. I want to see Hogan in prison."

How dare Hogan treat Leah like that? Norval would never forgive him.

Halfway through the romantic dinner, Ernest's phone rang.

He glanced at it to replace that Jensen was calling.

He said to Leah, "Uncle Charm is calling."

"Go ahead and answer it," Leah said.

Ernest promptly answered the phone. "Hi, Uncle."

Jensen's voice came over the speakers. "Ernest, I'm calling to ask if you'd made any deals with anybody on Hogan's case aside from me?

Ernest was stunned when he heard this. "No, what happened to Hogan?"

"Someone else is trying to pull some strings on the case. I just found out about it. It seems like they've been at it for a few days."

"Really?" Ernest was confused. "What's their plan?"

Jensen was silent for a moment before he said, "It took some investigation but I figured it out. They want Hogan to go to jail."
