True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1942
Leah's face turned red from embarrassment.
Gary was deliberately teasing them.
However, Leah retorted as she blushed, "Gary, aren't you and Celeste very energetic too? Don't laugh at us when you are no different. Be more merciful."
When Gary heard Leah's words, he was stunned. He smiled at the silent Ernest and said, "Wow, Ernest, you don't like these kinds of jokes but your woman does." Leah blinked. "Did I say anything wrong?"
Leah immediately looked back at Ernest.
She wanted to see his expression. She had to know if he felt embarrassed after hearing her words or not.
When Ernest saw Leah looking at him, he smiled in reply. "Well said. That's what we should have told Gary a long time ago."
Gary was somewhat stunned.
Leah also had no response to that.
Ernest looked at Gary indifferently and said, "Gary, you started it. Is it wrong for your sister-in-law to talk back to you?"
Gary blinked and said, "Ernest, are you protecting your woman like this? I can't even tease her a bit?"
"Gary, you are wrong. She is the one protecting me," Ernest said frankly, "I don't like to quarrel with others. Isn't it great for her to protect me? That is why I feel very happy." Gary's jaw dropped.
Leah laughed out loud.
It seemed that Ernest was quite a humorous person too.
At that moment, Celeste came out with a slight blush. When she saw them, she quickly greeted them, "Good morning, Ernest. Good morning, Leah."
The moment she finished speaking, Celeste quickly lowered her head, her face was red too.
Just like how Leah and Ernest were aware of what went on in the next room, it seemed that Celeste and Gary were also of what went on in their room. After all, sound traveled both ways The people from both rooms were quite familiar with each other.
So when they met each other outside their rooms that morning it seemed a little awkward.
The four of them were well aware of what went on. It was embarrassing.
However, Gary was not the type of person who followed rules. He liked to pick on others. Naturally, he would receive the same fate.
"Good morning, Celeste." Leah reacted quickly, greeting Celeste with a smile to resolve their mutual embarrassment.
Celeste smiled back and said, "Come on, shall we go for breakfast?"
"Okay." Leah was very clever. She immediately stepped forward and took Celeste's arm. They went downstairs together, talking and laughing along the way, completely ignoring the two men behind them. The two young men looked at each other after they were left out. Gary shrugged and smiled at his brother.
Ernest glanced at his brother and said, "There are some things that don't need to be said. Why must you say it out loud?"
Gary burst into laughter. "I say what I want. Your woman is so thick-skinned anyway. I don't think she minds it at all. You, on the other hand, are more cowardly than your girlfriend."
When he heard this, Ernest was dumbfounded. He knew his brother well, yet he still felt helpless.
"I don't mind, but your girlfriend feels awkward. You need to understand that the person feeling embarrassed in the end is Celeste, not Leah or me." Ernest reminded him.
After he finished speaking, he ignored Gary and went downstairs.
It was Gary's turn to be left speechless.
He stared at Ernest's back and said, "I think we need to renovate the rooms upstairs. The sound insulation is not good enough."
Ernest did not even turn around as he replied, "You are right. Why don't you tell Mom to renovate?"
"Ha!" Gary sneered, "Why won't you say it? Since you have agreed to renovate the rooms, why should I be the one to say it?"
Ernest did not care what his brother said, he went straight down without turning back. He continued to say to Gary, "It is because you are the eldest son in the family. With you around, there is no place for me to speak. So, it will be better if you were the one to speak."
When he heard this, Gary's lips twitched. He muttered, "Are you only bringing this up now because you want me to do the dirty work?"
"Brother, you will benefit from this anyway. It doesn't count as dirty work." Ernest smiled as he walked to the corner of the second floor. He turned around to look at Gary and reminded him, "After all, I won't come back that often. When I do, I will be staying at Leah's place. However, it won't be that great for you and Celeste to be staying out, right?"
"Stop beating around the bush, you just want me to be responsible for this, right?" Gary understood.
Ernest nodded. "That's right."
"Ha!" Gary sneered, "If you begged me properly, I won't mind doing more work. However, the more you say it, the less I want to do it."
"Do you think it is fun to be rebelling at your age?" Ernest smiled. He did not care what his brother thought. To him, it did not matter whether the rooms were renovated or not.
After Ernest said that, he went down. Gary was left speechless as he watched Ernest leave.
He wanted Ernest to suggest the idea. But it seemed like Ernest was unwilling to speak up, so he had to be the one to do it.
Gary shrugged and followed them down slowly.
Everyone was sitting at the table for breakfast. Grace, Heinz, Gary, Celeste, Ernest, and Leah were all there. Sebastian and Sylvia were not on winter vacation yet, so they were absent. Grace was so happy to see her two sons bringing their girlfriends home.
As they were eating, Grace continued encouraging them to eat more. The atmosphere was really warm and happy.
As they were about to finish eating, Grace asked, "Leah, did you sleep well last night?"
Leah froze for a moment, remembering what went on the night before. Then she smiled and replied, "I did sleep well, Aunt Smith."
"Ha!" Gary laughed.
He laughed so abruptly as if he was exposing the lie.
In that instant, everyone turned their heads to look at Leah and Gary.
Leah's face turned red from embarrassment when she heard him laugh.
She was lying to Grace but she couldn't tell the truth, right?
So embarrassing!
The night before, she had to endure listening to the couple next door in the middle of the night. After that, she was thoroughly exhausted by Ernest. She was still tired but she needed to have breakfast with the family, so she woke up earlier. Of course, she hadn't slept well.
However, Gary's laughter was so abrupt that it made her feel even more embarrassed.
Looking at Leah's blushing face, Grace immediately understood something. She immediately glared at Gary accusingly.
Gary did not care. He took the opportunity to speak, "Mom, if you ask Leah, of course, she will be too embarrassed to tell you that she didn't sleep well. You should be asking me if I slept well or not."
"I can tell that you are in good spirits. It's obvious that you slept well," Grace said gruffly.
Gary shrugged. "That is because I'm gifted. I don't need a lot of sleep to be full of energy."
Grace looked at him, then at the two girls who were at the table. Celeste and Leah seemed a little sleepy. She could tell that they did not get enough sleep.
She was surprised as well. "Celeste, did you not sleep well too?"
Celeste and Leah immediately looked at each other, too embarrassed to reply.
"Aunt Smith, we're fine. We slept well." Leah was too embarrassed to say anything else.
"I'm fine as well," Celeste said.
"All right, you girls must be too shy and embarrassed to say it. Let me talk." Gary continued naturally, "Dad, Mom, our house's soundproofing is too poor. It's normal for us to sleep well. Don't ask them. This time, both me and Ernest didn't sleep well too."
Grace immediately looked at Ernest.
Ernest blinked innocently and said, "Mom, I had a good sleep, but I am quite curious as to why Gary would say otherwise."
Grace frowned.
Gary scolded, "Hey, you are forcing me to fight alone! Isn't that too bad of you?"
Ernest would not comply, not bothering to support his brother at all.
"I am sure our parents know about the soundproofing in our house. After all, when we were renovating the house, they were worried about you and me doing sneaky things in our rooms without anyone being able to hear it. Mom, Dad, you deliberately left out soundproofing our rooms. Now, this is the problem we are facing. We can't sleep well at night without good sound insulation. Isn't that right, Celeste?"
Celeste was stunned that she was suddenly pulled into the conversation. She immediately glared at him.
She blushed when she heard such ambiguous words.
Seeing Celeste blush, Grace understood what it meant when they said that it was bad for their sleep.
She looked at her husband and Heinz understood instantly. Wasn't it obvious when they said that their rooms didn't have good sound insulation?
The two of them exchanged looks.
Heinz cleared his throat. "It has been a long time since we renovated upstairs. Back then, it was necessary for us to hear what they were up to in their rooms. Now, I think we should renovate it once more to fit our current situation."
After hearing Heinz's words, both Celeste and Leah blushed. They did not say anything and only kept their heads down.
Heinz was not stupid, he naturally understood the subtext. He gave his wife a silent look then said, "I will inform the butler of this matter and renovate it after you go back to London. How about this, Ernest and Leah can live in the old house at the back. The old house is brightly decorated and the sound insulation is very good. Lowell stays there every time he comes back."
Ernest blinked then said at once, "Dad, don't bother. We can live in Leah's apartment."
Before Heinz could speak, Gary started laughing. "Come on, in the end, you just want to live outside, Ernest. That's right, you will have a lot of freedom when you live outside. You can do whatever you want. No one will disturb you."
Ernest frowned.
Grace thought for a while and said, "Gary, why don't you go live in the old house?"
