True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1962
As Maria and Liam had joined them in the middle of the night, their vacation became even livelier, especially for the ladies. They had not seen each other in such a long time, so they talked for the whole night. They went straight to a guest room, leaving the men downstairs.
The men could only start chatting downstairs, knowing that the ladies had things that they wanted to talk about on their own.
After all, unlike men, women tend to have people to vent their emotions to.
Thus, Gary had no choice but to allow it that time.
In the guest room upstairs, the ladies were covering themselves with the blankets as they sat together and chatted excitedly.
Maria was the most excited.
"Leah, tell me! How did you and Ernest get back together?" Maria looked exceptionally curious. "How did that happen? Did he beg for your forgiveness? Did he get humble?"
Leah felt helpless looking at her being so gossipy.
She chuckled. "Shouldn't you know more about Ernest than I do? Does he seem like the type who would beg for forgiveness?"
"That does make sense." Maria nodded. She practically grew up with Ernest. She knew him well.
Yet, she was still very curious, and she gave Leah a look with hidden meanings behind it. "So how did you two get back together? If he didn't beg for forgiveness, did he perhaps have his way with you? Did he forcefully bring you to bed? Was that how you two get back together?"
Leah's cheeks flushed and she laughed wildly. "How can you ask such a question in front of Celeste?"
Celeste knew Maria well too, hence she was not surprised at her question.
However, she still spoke up for Leah to help her out the awkward situation.
"Maria, when did Leah break up with Ernest?" Celeste was surprised about that instead. "Why did I not hear of this? When did it happen?"
The other two were startled after hearing her question. They both kept quiet, as they thought of the reasons behind it.
For a moment there, the room was filled with silence.
Celeste felt odd, and she was puzzled at their expressions.
"Did something happen when I was at Boston?" Celeste asked again.
Maria shook her head as she twitched her lips. "Actually, it's nothing."
Leah was in a daze.
Maria took in her expression and then quickly explained, "They were just having a quarrel, and the break up was just an impulsive decision. I don't know how to explain it, but Leah was feeling like Ernest didn't love her enough at that time. We are always hung up on matters like these, aren't we?"
Celeste was also startled. She wanted to say something after hearing Maria's words, but she couldn't come up with anything.
Leah finally came back to her senses and said, "Yes, it's nothing too serious. I was feeling insecure back then, thinking that he was still in love with some other woman and didn't love me enough. That's why I ended things with him. However, I realized I still couldn't move on from him after the break up. I couldn't stop thinking about him, and then he came to me. So, I couldn't help it, and agreed to get back together with him."
Leah was being truthful, as if she was reading her
own behaviors.
There was nothing for her to hide.
Of course, except for the fact that they broke up because of Celeste.
After all, it was Ernest's one-sided feelings. Celeste was not involved in it.
Leah would never take it out on Celeste, as she was clear about it, and she would keep the matters separated.
She also believed that things weren't that easy for Celeste either.
Why would she give Celeste a hard time when Celeste was clueless about it since the beginning? She had never promised Ernest anything.
She was in no place to blame it on Celeste.
Although it was a little awkward for Celeste to ask her that question then, Leah was still able to adjust her emotions quickly and dealt with it with a smile. Maria gave her a thumbs-up. She respected Leah's honesty and also for not hurting Celeste.
She liked Leah even more for being so kind.
She held Leah's shoulders and said cheerfully, "Regardless of how it happened, I'm still happy that you got back together with Ernest.
"I'm happy too." Leah smiled and leaned on
Maria's shoulder. "That's especially so when the three of us can have fun like this again."
"That's for sure. We're around the same age and we are soon to be family as well as besties," Maria said.
"That's right."
Celeste also smiled upon seeing how happy they were. Although Leah didn't say it out directly, Celeste could tell that it was nothing more than a couple's quarrel.
"It seems that you two are really destined to be together, and no one could ever set you apart. People who aren't fated wouldn't be able to be together regardless of how hard they tried," Celeste said with a smile, "I can see how you two are when you are together, and I think you two make a great couple. Anyway, I just hope the best for you two, and to spend a lifetime together."
"Thank you for your blessings." Leah nodded, looking genuine. "I wish the same for you and Gary."
"Same here," Maria seconded.
Celeste had a sweet and gentle appearance that could easily attract men.
By looking at Celeste, Leah and Maria could understand why Liam and Ernest had a crush on her right after they saw her.
As women themselves, they had to admit that Celeste was breathtakingly gorgeous, that even women would be attracted, let alone men.
Her beauty dazzled vibrantly like fireworks. At the same time, it was also calming and would make one's heart flutter.
She looked like a flower fairy especially when she was just sitting quietly with a smile.
Her smile was so beautiful that it made one's heart race.
"You two carry on. I have to go to the washroom." Celeste got up.
"Go ahead." Leah nodded.
After Celeste went to the washroom, Maria immediately lowered her voice and said, "I almost forgot about Celeste earlier and it almost slipped my mouth. It'd be really awkward if Celeste found out about this." Leah raised her index finger and shushed her.
Maria dropped her voice lower into a whisper, "Don't worry, she won't hear us. By the way, are you really over this already? I saw you talking so happily with Celeste, seeming like things are okay with you two." "Celeste has nothing to do with this, so of course, I wouldn't blame it on her," Leah said.
Maria admired her even more upon hearing that and she sighed. "Leah, you know, you're really impressive. Ernest would be blind to not cherish you."
"You're right. That's what I think too. If he doesn't cherish me, he's really blind!" Leah chuckled. She was also impressed at the fact that Maria wasn't spending the night with Liam but instead talking to her and Celeste in the middle of the night. She then asked, "What about you and Liam? Are things okay?"
After all, Maria and Leah both overheard Ernest and Liam's conversation back then. She understood that Maria must be suffering from the same pain too.
Leah only decided to break up with Ernest because of how painful the whole thing was to her at that time. She was devastated, and she could only imagine how Maria felt too.
Yet, Maria didn't choose to break up with Liam. The incident might still play a detrimental role in their relationship.
"We're fine." Maria's expression froze slightly as her breathing halted for a second, pursing her lips. "It's not like I could hide it from you, and it would be a lie if I say that I don't mind it. I'm just trying my best to distract myself from that, and not care about it as much. After all, I care more about him and our future together, instead of his past.
As a fan, I'm already lucky enough to make my idol my boyfriend. Leah, are you going to make fun of me? Would you think that I'm a fool in love? I just couldn't let it go at all when it comes to love." "Everyone's a fool in love. No one can actually be open-hearted about it." Leah smiled bitterly. "It's just that I believe sooner or later, what bothered us will fade away too. We just need an opportunity or go through the phases for that to happen."
Maria nodded. "I know Celeste has nothing to do with this, but every time I see her, I can't help but to observe Liam's reaction to see if he still has feelings for her."
Leah was startled.
Maria then asked immediately, "What about you? Do you observe Ernest too?"
Leah laughed bitterly. "It was the same for me not too long ago. It was only since last night that I actually let it go, and I stopped doing that. I think I've completely moved on from this after last night. We just really needed the right time and the opportunity."
"Is that so? Have you really let it go?" Maria was surprised, and she raised her voice without realizing, "Do you really not mind the fact that Ernest used to have a crush on Celeste?"
At that moment, Celeste was about to walk out of the bathroom. Her hand froze mid- air by the doorknob upon hearing that.
Her face turned pale in an instant.
