Gary had said so purposely to test Celeste's reaction. After all, he had already chosen to woo her shamelessly, so a little embarrassment wouldn't deter him anyhow.

If he chose to preserve his pride, he would have to forget about getting Celeste back.

Even now, he couldn't bear not seeing Celeste for long periods of time. Even if it were just half an hour, he would feel uncomfortable leaving Celeste out of his sight. Thus, there was no way he could live without her.

Upon hearing Gary's words, Celeste felt extremely awkward.

The two of them used to stick together like glue, but things were different now. To be honest, to sleep separately on the floor did sound a bit unreasonable.

After giving it some thought, Celeste could only smirk in resignation, "Yeah, it is quite unreasonable."

Gary raised his eyebrows and asked, "So do you agree to continue sleeping together?"

Celeste blushed. She was in a tight spot but still nodded in agreement, "Fine. Your bed is large enough for the two of us anyways, so let's just sleep together. Even so, I hope you'll give me some respect. Don't attempt to force yourself on me."

Upon hearing this, Gary blinked innocently, "You seem to be thinking too much. I have no intention of touching you in any way."

The voice in his head added, "I only want you to touch me."

"Only you."

"I'm not interested in touching anyone other than you, Celeste White."

However, these words could only be said in his heart. He couldn't really do anything about it.

Gary was fully aware that if he really tried anything, Celeste would never forgive him.

As soon as he finished speaking, Celeste blushed all the way to her ears. Her cheeks were flushed and scarlet.

She turned away as she felt a little uncomfortable.

The one that felt the most awkward was none other than herself as she had placed herself in a tricky situation.

Celeste didn't want to care about anything else. All she cared about was to avoid spilling the beans to Grace and Heinz and making them worry.

Since Grace was pregnant, Celeste wanted to avoid affecting Grace's mood and indirectly, the baby's health.

This was probably the only thing Celeste could do for Grace.

After all, Grace and Heinz had taken care of her for so long.

Because of this, Celeste couldn't hurt them anymore.

Just then, the phone suddenly rang.

Celeste was stunned and picked up her phone. Someone was calling her.

She accepted the call and realized that her classmate from England was calling. It was rare for her classmate to call her.

Celeste greeted the other party cheerfully.

Greetings were exchanged. Primarily, her classmate was asking her when she was to return to England. It seemed like they wanted to work on a project together. Celeste whispered that she didn't have any plans to return this year, but her plans were still pending.

She agreed that once she returned, she would inform her classmate so they could work together.

Gary looked at Celeste with a droopy gaze. He could hear everything and knew that the person talking to Celeste was a guy.

This phone call really came at the wrong time.

Once again, Gary's pride had resurfaced.

The fact that a guy was looking for Celeste made him alert.

This was a big deal.

This was especially true since things between Gary and Celeste were delicate. Now that a guy was looking for Celeste, how could Gary calm himself down?

Moreover, Celeste's mention of not returning to England didn't deter the guy. Instead, he said that he would be coming over to Boston in April or May. He even invited Celeste to meet up. Gary felt as though he was facing a formidable enemy.

To make matters worse, Celeste agreed to meet up.

After hanging up, Celeste put down her phone and continued to pack her things calmly.

However, Gary kept staring at Celeste sharply without even bothering to blink. The tone in his voice was filled with jealousy.

"Why don't I know of this male classmate of yours?"

Upon hearing this, Celeste looked up into Gary's eyes.

In fact, this was just a phone call from her classmate that she wasn't quite acquainted with. Celeste herself was pretty shocked to receive this call.

Furthermore, this classmate of hers was sincerely asking her out to work on a project under their professor's instructions.

Other than that, they had nothing else to do with each other.

However, what did Gary mean by asking this question?

Celeste just looked at him faintly before shooting back, "Same goes for me. I don't know why I have a classmate like that. What problem do you have with my studies and the people I know?" Celeste's tone of voice and expression seemed rather frank as she just stared at Gary nonchalantly. Her frankness made Gary shrink in awkwardness.

Now, he felt like he was being a little too petty.

Moments later, Gary shrugged and turned away before scoffing at his actions, "Even if I have a problem with that, I no longer have the right to interfere."

Celeste was shocked to hear him say that. She nodded mechanically, "Indeed. However, there's no need for you to overthink anything. I have never been truly close with anyone apart from Maria."

Celeste retorted.

Gary fell silent.

Nothing else was heard from him after that. His expression had sunk and he looked slightly dejected. Gary's sorry sight made Celeste feel slightly bad for what she had said.

A slip of the tongue did the two of them no good. After all, they would only end up shooting themselves in the foot.

Now, Celeste thought that she had gone overboard. To say such a mean thing to Gary meant that she was still not over it.

"It's great that a guy is asking you to do a project with him," Gary chuckled. He recomposed himself before apologizing, "That's how things should be. You should be free to make friends. I was just being too narrow-minded, and I'm sorry for that."

Celeste paused to hear Gary' apologize. She, too, fell silent.

Gary looked at her for a long while and smiled before saying, "Alright, don't take it to heart. I'm just being a little jealous."

It was rare for him to admit his jealousy. More so, it took him a lot of courage to put down his pride and say so.

Gary already admitted that it was embarrassing to be envious of every little thing. Yet, it was no longer the first or second time for him to feel jealous, Because of that, he had only grown even more brash at admitting it

Upon hearing these words, Celeste was stunned and cast an incredulous look at Gary. He was being jealous?

What was the point of speaking about this now?

"I'm done packing. If there isn't anything else you need to tell me, let's get going now," Celeste wanted to head back to the Jones family house that very instant.

If there was no way to avoid it, they might as well just get it over with.

Gary nodded as he stared at Celeste, emotions fluttering underneath his gaze, "Alright, let's head back."

The two of them headed out. After loading the luggage onto the car, Gary decided to drive. However, they weren't heading towards the Jones family mansion situated at the foot of the hill. Instead, they headed even further up the mountain.

After driving for two or three miles, Celeste finally realized that they weren't ascending the hill but they were heading in the opposite direction. She couldn't help but ask, "Where are you taking me?" "You will know when you get there," Gary grunted.

The car sped up. When it reached

the top of the mountain, Celeste took a look at the place and blushed the minute she saw the trees that were a short distance away from the observation deck on the mountain.

This was the place where they had done it together before.

"Why have you brought me here?" Celeste couldn't help but ask angrily.

Gary raised an eyebrow at her and shrugged, "You don't have to be so nervous. I just want to get some fresh air before I go down the mountain and head home."
