Celeste's eyes grew teary. Crystal droplets threatened to fall from her eyes with just a single blink.

Her ethereal yet pitiful look was enough to make any man swoon for her. As long as the other party was a man with a heart, they would definitely take Celeste into their arms and swear to love her forever. Celeste wanted to nod. However, her head did the opposite of what her heart wished to do and instead, she shook her head.

She pursed her lips and looked at Gary. After taking a deep breath, she sighed, "Gary, I really want to say yes, but I don't think I can."

"I don't even know if I should blame you or thank you. Right now, I can truly feel your love for me, but I also feel the worst pain a woman can ever experience."

"I'm really grateful for the happiness that you have given me, but I just can't get the image of what you and Janice did out of my head." "I want to try to, but I really can't. I'm sorry." The moment Celeste finished, her tears started to fall.

Her scalding tears fell onto Gary's hands, dampening his hands as well as his heart.

He clenched his fists and his pupils violently contracted as he trembled. His eyes were filled with immense distress.

Gary said nothing and pulled Celeste into his arms.

Celeste had her face pressed up against Gary's chest as she listened to the man's rhythmic heartbeat.

His arms around her were strong and sturdy. However, he had such a tight hold on her that Celeste found it slightly difficult to breathe.

Some time passed before Gary made a move. His cold yet handsome face was emotional as he slowly closed his eyes before finally opening them again. As he did that, there was a teary glint in his eyes that spread to his long thick lashes.

However, men like him preferred shedding blood over tears, so he quickly tried to hide his tears.

Gary rested his chin onto Celeste's shoulder gently and whispered into her ear, "Alright, I won't force you. It was my fault in the first place, so I should face the music." Celeste's nose was runny, and her arms froze while in his embrace. After a moment's hesitation, she reached out tenderly and wrapped her arms around Gary's back. They hugged each other tightly. Two lonely souls embraced each other in the bony wind and desolate winter.

The remainder of Celeste's tears dried up.

"Don't cry, Celeste. I shouldn't have forced you to make a decision once more, I'm sorry. This is all my fault!" Gary kept apologizing.

Celeste had initially stopped crying, but because of his humble apology, her tears started to surge and pour down again.

"Stop apologizing," Celeste suddenly frowned before breaking free from Gary's embrace. She turned around and took a few steps away.

Gary's arms were suddenly empty. He felt a sense of loss and longing flashed through his eyes. He reached out and clenched his fist as he sighed bitterly.

Once again, he cast his gaze afar to watch Celeste wiping her tears from a distance away from him. Although she had her back turned, Gary knew that she was secretly wiping her tears away with the back of her hand.

Meanwhile, Celeste kept taking deep breaths.

Finally, she stopped crying.

It took Celeste around a minute or so to calm herself down. After doing so, she felt a lot better.

Celeste once again turned to face Gary and tried to plaster a smile, "We'd better get going."

Although Gary was unwilling to leave, he knew that time they had was limited. Hence, he could only nod.

When they returned to the car, the air between them was different from before, but still as awkward as ever. Celeste chose to look out the window silently.

After that conversation, Gary no longer knew how to start a conversation with Celeste.

The two of them drove in silence all the way back to the Jones family manor.

Upon entering, it was almost dinnertime.

When Grace turned around, she was shocked to see Celeste and Gary. She chortled, "Both of you are home already? Weren't the two of you supposed to enjoy your time in the villa? What's with the sudden surprise? You didn't even tell me that you guys were on the way home."

"I missed you," Celeste stepped forward and gave Grace a big hug.

Grace was shocked but she smiled and returned the hug that Celeste gave.

"I missed you a lot too, Celeste," Grace patted Celeste's shoulder lightly. After letting go, Grace looked into Celeste's eyes and was shocked to notice that Celeste's eyes were slightly red-rimmed.

Grace immediately looked at her son and suddenly realized that Gary's gaze was fixated on Celeste. In fact, he seemed a little absent-minded while staring at Celeste.

What was going on? Since they were constantly together, didn't they have enough of staring at each other lovingly?

Grace couldn't help but smirk, "It's

good that you guys are home. Lowell is back too. You guys can even head out and have fun these two days. Gary, you should replace time to bring Celeste around too. Time and youth won't wait. You guys should go for a trip to the seas and the mountains to enjoy some scenic imagery."

"I don't have any problems with

that!" Gary answered smoothly, his tone this time round sounding nicer than usual. However, his tone changed as he looked at Celeste and said to Grace, "It's just that I'm not sure if Celeste is up for a trip. I've suggested bringing her around two days ago, but she wanted to come back and spend the festive season with the family. That's why we chose to stay home instead of going on a trip."

"Oh? What's wrong with spending a festive season on a trip? You guys should take the time to rest since you've been busy the whole year. You two have also been busy with your studies as well, so you should take a trip and relax. Cut yourselves some slack."

"Although I appreciate you guys staying at home with me, I won't be able to move about as much when I'm like this. It's going to be very boring and confined when you're with me at home."

"If I were not pregnant, I would propose a family trip too."

Celeste pursed her lips in embarrassment and wasn't sure of what to say.

She didn't understand the purpose of the trip. It sounded more like a trip to commemorate their breakup.

The very thought of it now enshrouded her entire soul in a sorrowful aura.

"Celeste, don't you want to go?" Grace asked upon noticing Celeste's silence.

Celeste was stunned and immediately shook her head, "Maybe not. I prefer to stay at home with you."

Grace was stunned. Her gut feeling told her that something was off with Celeste.
