True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 2111
He seemed to be a little nervous.
Sylvia gazed at Kendrix's face from up close.
She felt an unexplainable sense of panic inside her chest. It made her want to run away.
However, such an opportunity was too rare to pass up.
She had no choice but to take the risk and face it bravely.
No one could stop her from liking Kendrix.
Even though she was blushing so much, she did not want to miss any expression Kendrix might make.
After all, she had to get a sense of what he was feeling from his expression.
Fortunately, the answer was what she wanted.
Sylvia blushed as she smiled slightly. Then, she got up and backed up far enough to see Kendrix properly.
She looked at Kendrix with a mix of smugness and shyness as if she were a cat that had stolen some fish from the table.
Her eyes were filled with fear and excitement.
Meanwhile, Kendrix neither moved nor spoke.
"I'll be off now. See you." Sylvia gave Kendrix a meaningful look before she left.
Kendrix sat on the sofa motionless until the door closed. Even then, he did not move except to close his eyes. It was as if he was trying to relive something.
However, the door suddenly opened, and Sylvia stood there looking at Kendrix.
Kendrix's eyes were closed with his arms spread over the back of the sofa. He seemed relaxed.
That tipped Sylvia off as to how Kendrix felt.
Kendrix's sharp senses detected Sylvia's presence, and he opened his eyes.
Indifference set onto his face after he saw Sylvia again, and he became very stoic.
Sylvia smiled and said, "Don't you have anything to say to me? I'm going home."
Kendrix frowned as his body exuded a chilling aura.
Sylvia stuck out her tongue and said, "I know that you're embarrassed, but you should be more forward as a man. But alas, you're so gentle, so I have to do all the hard work. I guess that's what makes us a perfect match, no?"
Kendrix narrowed his eyes a little at her.
Then, Sylvia smiled cheekily and closed the door.
That time, Sylvia really left.
She felt as if her legs had turned to jelly.
It was really a little bit out of character for her to do something like that.
She had done something beyond her imagination. She could be shameless in front of anyone except Kendrix.
When she was with Kendrix, she felt like she turned into a little girl.
She would be extremely shy.
She would also be too embarrassed to be cheeky with him.
Therefore, what she did just now was really out of character.
Alas, he did not say anything about it.
Sylvia felt that with their current situation, Kendrix would not be able to say anything either. Propriety did not allow it.
However, she knew how Kendrix felt, so she was not so anxious anymore.
She covered her face with both hands and let out a long sigh.
Then, she smiled.
Sylvia made her way downstairs.
Kendrix sat quietly for several minutes before he got up.
His tall figure walked to the balcony and stood there, staring out into the darkness.
Then, the phone rang.
He glanced at it and saw that it was Claudia calling.
He stepped back and put the call on speakerphone.
Claudia said, "Kendrix, doesn't it feel sad to watch her leave while you hide by the window?"
Kendrix frowned as he set the phone aside and looked out the window.
"No need to look. I'm in the car downstairs." Claudia smiled and said, "I can see you, but you can't see me. Isn't that interesting?"
Kendrix glanced backward and found that he did not turn off the lights in his apartment. That was what gave him away.
He smiled wryly.
It was indeed annoying to have a cousin like Claudia.
"You ruined my plan. I'll get you back for that,"
Kendrix said.
"Kendrix, you've got to be kidding me. I'm doing this for your own good! You've been single for so long, so how can you miss this opportunity? You're going to wither away from loneliness if you don't do anything."
"Shut up!" Kendrix yelled, unable to hold back anymore.
Claudia was way too cheeky.
Some things could not be taken as a joke. As a policeman, he had to set an example.
He was going against his morals and ideals, and it was uncharacteristic of him.
"All right. I know you're pissed. Don't worry. I know my limits." Claudia laughed.
Kendrix was silent.
That was because he had spotted Sylvia walking.
Her petite figure was walking toward a car. The lights downstairs were not very bright, but he could still see her.
A burly man stepped out from the driver's side and opened the door for her.
Kendrix knew that it must be a bodyguard or driver of the Jones family.
Sylvia was born when the Jones family's wealth was flourishing, so it could be said that she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She was not someone that could withstand hardship.
He had assumed that Sylvia would never get first place in the test, and he did not expect her to achieve that in a matter of days.
It was way out of his expectations, and Kendrix was a little surprised.
However, it was too late to take back what he had said.
Claudia's actions were rather immature, but he could not do anything about it.
He had already prepared for the possibility of not getting what he wanted.
Alas, the strong walls of the fortress were broken by forces from within.
Claudia was usually very reliable, but not that time.
Kendrix smiled bitterly as he watched Sylvia get into the car.
Claudia greeted Sylvia with a smile. "Sylvia, I'm speaking to Kendrix on the phone. Would you like to talk to him?"
Sylvia sucked in a deep breath.
She was obviously nervous.
"I... No... There's no need." It was the first time Sylvia had ever stammered in her entire life.
Kendrix could not help but smirk.
He remained silent.
His phone lay on the table next to him, emitting a cool blue glow.
"Kendrix, Sylvia is so shy," Claudia remarked, determined to stir up trouble for them.
Kendrix continued to remain silent.
"Kendrix, why aren't you saying
anything? Claudia glanced at her et
phone when there was no reply to
make sure that Kendrix had not hung up on her.
Suddenly, she realized that Kendrix was shy.
Claudia knew Kendrix's character very well, and he preferred to stay silent when he did not know what to say to avoid embarrassment.
"Oh, fine. I know both of you are shy. I'll keep the conversation going for both of you." Claudia chuckled.
It was admirable that Claudia could do that all on her own.

Sylvia suddenly became alarmed.
Since Kendrix would be returning, then kissing him earlier was way too embarrassing.
Sylvia was so embarrassed that she wanted to hide and never see anyone ever again.
"You'll be back once school reopens right, Kendrix?" Claudia asked cheekily.
Finally, Kendrix's low voice came over the phone, "You talk too much."
Claudia burst into laughter.
The call was disconnected immediately after that.
Claudia knew that Kendrix would use that method to escape if he had nothing to say.
She put away her phone and said to Sylvia, "Does that put your worries to rest?"
"Will he really be back after school reopens?" Sylvia mumbled.
Claudia nodded. "He did not deny it and said that I talked too much."
"But he didn't admit it either."
"That's why you should have a better understanding of his temper. He's rather annoying sometimes," Claudia said wisely.
Sylvia defended Kendrix immediately. "It's not annoying. He's just a little aloof."
Claudia rolled her eyes and said, "Oh my God, you're so obsessed with him."
"Yup, I'm obsessed with Kendrix." Sylvia leaned back against the car seat and gave Claudia a steady look, trying to control her excitement.
Kendrix would come back after school reopened, and that meant that they would meet again. Sylvia thought to herself.
That was amazing!
The thought of it made Sylvia smile brightly.
