True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 2114
"So, does this mean you've understood the true meaning of life now, mom?" Sylvia knew that Grace's early years were tough and things didn't always go as she wished, so her mother had matured back when she was quite young.
It was also her life experiences that had allowed Grace to broaden her horizons and to be more open-hearted.
"Every stage of life has its own lessons." Grace chuckled. "You're still young, so you can't be too sure about some things yet. Make sure to leave a little room for yourself and others in all things." "Mommy, you don't seem confident in me!" Sylvia giggled.
Grace shook her head and said, "I still have a lot of faith in you, but as your mom, I'll definitely worry. It's only natural."
"Then, do you think Celeste and Gary will get back together? I really like them as a couple." Sylvia replied.
Celeste's family background was less than stellar, but she was still a very gentle and refined woman, unlike many other ordinary girls who were spoilt and prideful. She felt that someone as arrogant and impulsive as Gary needed a gentle woman to calm him down.
Furthermore, Sylvia felt that loyalty in a relationship was the best.
To be with the same person from the beginning till the end was what Sylvia wanted.
However, Sylvia knew that it was very rare for people to be able to fulfil that wish. It was just a beautiful wish to have.
Two people who loved one another might not be able to stay together until the end as a lot of hiccups might happen along the way.
Those incidents may break the once loving relationship forever.
Some might even turn against each other, regretting having loved each other in the past.
Reality was always saddening, and Sylvia felt like she couldn't be sure of anything right then. She just wanted to love freely, and just let it take its course.
She would give her all in loving Kendrix.
"I don't know either." Grace shook her head. "Although I'd like them to get back together, relationships can't be forced." "So, even you don't have confidence in them?" Sylvia was shocked.
Grace pursed her lips. "This doesn't involve me, Sylvia. It's between your brother and Celeste, so what can I do?"
There was a hint of helplessness and regret in Grace's tone.
Sylvia felt that it was normal for Grace to see it that way as she thought about it, but she was still very worried.
"Gary's not doing so great now, though." Sylvia became worried as soon as she said that, glancing at her mother's stomach.
Grace noticed that tiny little gesture and smiled subtly. Sylvia was worried about her pregnancy, and she didn't want to upset her mother.
"Your brother will be fine after a while. Who I'm worried most about now is Celeste, who's out there on her own."
It must be miserable for Celeste to spend the New Year alone and with no place to call home.
How could Grace not worry?
At first, Heinz had sent men to keep an eye on Celeste. However, Gary had interrupted and dismissed all of them. Where could Celeste have gone then? Even if she wanted to investigate, it needed time.
Gary was such an idiot.
Well, Grace decided that it was futile to keep blaming Gary. After all, she knew Celeste's character very well.
Celeste must be trying to heal in solitude, and she was stuck in limbo for then. Hence, that would just cause her even more pain.
"I'll ask your father to try and locate Celeste." Grace continued, "We could just watch over her secretly as long as we know that she's okay. We'll be at ease. It's fine even if she doesn't know about it."
"Okay, then we should ask dad to send his men right away," Sylvia said.
Grace replied, "I got it. Go back to your room quickly, you'd better not neglect your guest."
"Got it, mom!" Sylvia was so happy that she rushed over and hugged Grace.
Grace hugged her back.
After that, Sylvia returned to her room.
Meanwhile, Claudia was awake when she returned, and she was sitting on the bed in a daze.
Claudia turned in Sylvia's direction when she came through the door and asked, "You slept awfully late last night, so why are you up so early?"
"It's not early anymore," Sylvia said. "Statistically, high school students get the least amount of sleep. So, as a high school student myself, how could I sleep in so much?"
"You act like you're studying very
hard." Claudia was of the opinion
that Sylvia wasn't the type that got good grades because she studied. Instead, she must have owed that to her intelligence.
"Of course I study hard, how would I get first place if I didn't?" Sylvia walked in with a proud expression on her face.
"It was just luck that you got first place this time, wasn't it?" Claudia teased.
Otherwise, why would Kendrix set that as a condition for Sylvia?
He was basically making a bet.
Kendrix obviously didn't expect Sylvia to be able to achieve it.
He thought it was impossible, so he got careless. That was why he was so surprised when Sylvia actually got the first place.
Hence, he suddenly came up with the idea to have his own cousin to pretend to be his girlfriend.
That was not in line with Kendrix's style.
Of course, that was also the first time Claudia had betrayed Kendrix, and it caught him off guard.
Sure enough, Sylvia felt guilty as
soon as Claudia said that. Her eyes darted around as she said, "Even if was just lucky, not everyone can be so lucky, right? Plus, I think I was motivated instead, and it's not After all, I do have a good foundation, and that's how achieved the results that I did."
Duck.
"Huh? Didn't you say that Sebastian went easy on you and let you win? He gave you the chance, didn't he?" Claudia did not forget that at all.
Sylvia rolled her eyes speechlessly. "Why do you have such good memory? Can't you let me enjoy my achievement for a bit?"
"I just feel like you're not someone who cares that much about ranking."
"I didn't care about it before, but this time is different. It meant a lot to me."
"What did you ask of my cousin?"
"I asked that he can't have another woman."
"I thought you wanted him to marry you," said Claudia. "If it were me, I'd just tell him to marry me when I got older."
"Do you think I didn't want to?" Sylvia pouted. "I'm just afraid of scaring him away."
"If he was so easily scared, you wouldn't have fallen for him in the first place."
"Well, you're not wrong." Sylvia nodded. "However, I still have my own pride and modesty, okay?"
