Just as Kendrix promised, Sylvia's phone rang ten minutes right after their last call.

Excited, Sylvia answered the call to see Kendrix's handsome face appear on the screen.

Sylvia felt her heart skip a beat, her heart racing seeing her beloved.

She never had that feeling seeing other men.

That was why Sylvia was confident Kendrix was her love at first sight.

If she didn't feel so with other men at first sight, then it wasn't love.

Just like how she didn't feel the same for Chigo.

She was clear about that.

A child's words were nothing more than jests.

But now, she was sure her heart was with Kendrix.

She merely grinned, staring at the man on the other end of the line, not saying a word, just smiling.

Seeing her beam, Kendrix asked, "Why are you smiling?"

"I'm happy," Sylvia answered joyfully, "I feel like a

soaring bird."

"Really? And how does that feel exactly?" Kendrix asked.

"Imagine a caged bird, right? It'd definitely be upset losing its freedom, but once it's free to fly straight to the open sky, soaring freely, it'd feel awesome, wouldn't it?" Sylvia said, her eyes curving into crescents. "That is how I feel right now."

She felt like a bird flying to the clouds.

"Why are you so happy then?"

"Because you're mine now." Sylvia was direct. "So, of course, I'm happy, no, not just happy. I'm very, very, very happy."

She used a few 'very's to describe how happy she felt right then.

Influenced by her happiness, Kendrix smiled faintly and said, "You'll easily be taken advantage of if you write your emotions on your face."

"Are you teaching me how to act?" Sylvia blinked and said, "Though I admit you're right, I can't help wanting to smile. What's more, you're right in front of me."

Kendrix shook his head once more, chuckling under his breath.

He had a charming smile; his lips curved slightly upward, his thick long lashes drooped, and his nose tall and straight, the epitome of perfection from her angle.

No.

He had a perfect face, perfect from every angle.

Yes, that was it.

Kendrix was that handsome.

"You can act like this in front of me, but you need to control yourself when you are in front of others," Kendrix reminded her.

"I know." Sylvia nodded and said, "That goes without saying. Of course, I will be careful."

"Good." Kendrix took a gander at her before checking his watch. They only had seven minutes left.

He thought that time was passing too quickly, as if it would pass in the blink of an eye.

"What were you reading earlier while I was doing my maths?" Only then did Sylvia suddenly remember to ask Kendrix.

"Criminal investigation," Kendrix said so but felt inexplicably guilty.

Because he was utterly distracted.

Luckily, he remembered the title of the book.

"Oh, what's it about?" Sylvia asked. "Tell me about

it."

Stumped, he could only tell her what he had read in the past.

But even so, he still felt guilty.

So he immediately changed the subject, "We only have six minutes left. Are you sure you want to hear me talk about this obscure and incomprehensible thing? It'll be a pity to waste our time on this." And just like that, he successfully swayed Sylvia. "What do you want to talk about then?"

"Anything," he said, "Maybe, you."

"Me?" Sylvia widened her eyes. "I mean, what you're seeing is what you get. What do you want to know? I'll tell you everything."

Stumped, Kendrix thought, "Yeah, what do I want to know?"

He fell silent for a while.

When Sylvia saw how silent he was, she suddenly leaned her face closer to the screen.

Kendrix was once again stumped when he saw Sylvia's suddenly enlarged face.

She blinked and asked, "What's on your mind?"

"Nothing," Kendrix leaned back on his chair, not daring to look into her eyes for fear she saw right through his thoughts.

Something wasn't right.

Sylvia looked at his handsome face in the screen and said, "Kendrix, do you know?"

"Know what?" He quirked his brow, looking back at her.

"You're really great." Sylvia blushed, her lips closing and parting as her soft voice traveled from the screen. "Absolutely amazing, no matter how or what you do. And it's even better after becoming your girlfriend."

Taken aback by her compliment, Kendrix wore a tender smile and coaxed, "Time for you to go to bed."

"There's still four minutes left," Sylvia reminded. "You're not shy, are you?"

Scrutinizing his face, she wondered if his face was feeling slightly warm like hers.

And with a good look, he did seem to be behaving unnaturally.

This was the first time she had seen Mr. Trevino acting like this.

As an epiphany struck her, she exclaimed, "Oh, you are shy. You'd also feel shy from being praised?"

She giggled as if she had found a whole new world.

Looking helplessly at the girl, Kendrix said, "Must you make fun of me?" "Of course," Sylvia acknowledged generously. "What are you going to do about it?"

Seeing her raise her chin proudly, all smug because he couldn't get to her right then, so he couldn't do anything to her, he knew she was bright.

His eyes deepened as he stared at her smiling lips, which were curved into a vivacious arch.

"You'll replace out in the future," Kendrix said with a double entendre.

Sylvia blinked, looking at him. "When?"

"When we meet again," Kendrix said, fixing his gaze at her lips, thinking he might lose control once again and kiss her if they were alone the next time they met. However, his reasoning told him no; it was already the second day of the year.

It was already a brand new day; he could indulge no longer.

He absolutely could not let his emotions prevail anymore.

"When do you want to see me?" Sylvia asked in return.

Kendrix wanted nothing more than to say tomorrow.

However, in the end, he still said, "You need to focus on your studies now. You can't keep calling me like this; it is too distracting."

"But I'm not distracted at all." Sylvia thought it was not necessary at all.

"But I will be," Kendrix said.

Sylvia was stupefied.

She wasn't sure what he meant by that until she scrutinized him once more, discovering his bobbing Adam's apple and his stare at her. Danger surged in the depths of his eyes.

Sylvia felt intimidated by him for the first time; it was a bloodthirsty gaze of a predator at its prey.

She suddenly got nervous and subconsciously licked her lips, only for his gaze to deepen further to her dismay.

After a long while, Kendrix finally said with a husky voice, "Alright, time for bed."

"Kendrix," Sylvia called to him impulsively.

"Yes?"

"I really wish I'm over eighteen now."

For if it were true, no one would restrict her anymore; she wouldn't need a chaperone whenever she went out.

She blushed, saying so.

Kendrix understood what she was trying to tell him.

Fixing his gaze at her, he said, "Me too."

Sylvia knew what he meant too.

The two locked eyes.

After around a dozen seconds.

The two of them sighed simultaneously.

Stumped, Sylvia blushed, saying bashfully, "Good night, Kendrix. Sweet dreams."

"Sweet dreams," Kendrix said.

"Let's end the call together," she suggested.

Kendrix nodded, agreeing.

"I'll count. One, two, three, end!" Sylvia counted and ended the call with a heavy heart at three.

However, Kendrix didn't, wearing a barely visible smile on his face as he looked at the disconnected call before he got up and made his way to a cold shower.

Without a doubt, it was a restless night for him.

After hanging up, Sylvia laid flat on

her bed, staring at the ceiling; she couldn't help beaming at the thought that her wish had come true. With that, she turned to her side and

buried her face in the covers.

Kendrix wanted her.

He had the carnal desires of a man toward a woman for her.

How great.

She fixed her mood for a long time before she was finally able to calm down. When she was about to charge her phone, she noticed someone sent a hi to her on Whatsapp.

It was a strange number.

She clicked on his info to replace their profile picture, a rising sun, and the name 'Waiting'.

Frowning, she hadn't a clue who it was.

So she ignored the sender and charged her phone. After checking Kendrix hadn't sent her any new messages, she went to bed.

To her dismay, a phone call woke her up bright and early the next day.

Sylvia checked the time to replace it was only six-thirty.

She would have normally gotten up at this time, but because she slept a little late the night before and was now woken up by the phone call, she couldn't help being in a bad mood. Taking a gander, it was an unknown number.

She answered the phone and immediately scolded, "Who are you? What the hell are you doing, calling so early on a holiday? Are you insane?" "Sylvia." Chigo's voice came from the other end.

"Wait, you're..." Sylvia was stunned for a split second. "Chigo?"

"Yeah, it's me." Chigo's cheerful voice travel to her ears. "Looks like I called at a bad time. You're still in bed, aren't you?"
