True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 243
Grace was embarrassed for a moment. She subconsciously glanced at Heinz.
The doctor said bluntly, "Answer my question. Why are you looking at Mr. Jones?"
She didn't want to look at him either, but he was the one who initiated the whole thing. As soon as she woke up, she was almost suffocated to death because her mouth was being blocked by someone else.
"I kissed her." Heinz said bluntly and said in a low voice, "Then she yelled and said she was short of breath. I touched her pulse and it was beating very fast."
"That's fine then." The doctor breathed a sigh of relief. "The toxin alone wouldn't cause such a reaction, but the both of you were at the peak of your hormonal reactions. It's normal that Miss Smith's mood was out of control and it disturbed the nervous system. It is normal."
"Do you mean that it's not the effect of the toxin?" he asked.
"Not entirely." the doctor answered.
Heinz heaved a sigh of relief.
Grace's mind was a blur.
"Mr. Jones, Miss Smith can't be disturbed these next few days," he advised strictly.
"Just say what you want to say," Heinz grumbled.
"What I meant was you two can't be too intimate." The doctor could only be straightforward. After he said it, he felt that it was inappropriate and his face turned red.
Heinz frowned. "Why though?"
The doctor said, "If you get too intimate, her surge in hormones will disrupt our diagnosis. It will be difficult for us to determine whether it's the toxin or intimacy which is affecting the nervous system.." Heinz nodded. "Okay, I understand."
Grace blushed and her eyes widened. She finally spoke after a long pause, "Was I poisoned by the snake venom?" "Yes." The doctor answered, "It's very dangerous to suck out the snake venom. Even a little bit of snake venom is enough to kill, especially from snakes that are highly venomous."
"Then why does he look fine?" She pointed at Heinz and asked, "Shouldn't he be more affected by the venom?"
"Both of you have a very deep connection. Just now, Mr. Jones asked the same question." The doctor took a glance at Heinz. "Let me repeat it again. Everyone's body reacts differently towards toxins. And when you sucked it up, it may have entered through the blood stream and caused oral ulcer, gum inflammation, and tonsillitis. It's also possible that you have a weaker immune system, which made you more sensitive to the toxin."
Grace's mind buzzed at his words.
"Miss Smith, next time if something like this happens again, please do not attempt to suck out the venom again." The doctor reminded her.
She muttered to herself, "Let's hope we're not so unlucky that this will happen again. There's no way that there are so many venomous snakes around."
"Are you going to do it again if you do encounter one?" The doctor looked at her, as if she answered the question without thinking. He looked at her and asked again, "If Mr. Jones encountered such a situation again, will you do the same?"
"Of course I will, if it's for Heinz," she whispered.
Heinz's body suddenly moved, and his eyes were tightly locked on Grace. He wanted to hold her in his arms.
"Mr. Jones, please restrain yourself." The doctor immediately reminded him, "You might be moved by her words, but Miss Smith's heartbeat really can't be stimulated further. It's already at one hundred and ten."
Heinz then looked at the doctor and nodded.
"Can you calm down?"
"With the medicine's treatment, I think I'll be fine, soon," Grace said. "It will probably take two to three months for the toxin to be totally cleansed from my body."
"Two to three months?" Heinz was shocked.
"You can't get pregnant within this half of the year," the doctor advised.
Grace was speechless. They usually made sure they are well protected, so this was not an issue.
However, it was very embarrassing to be advised in the face out loud.
This doctor was really daring.
She lowered her eyes and avoided their eyes.
"Miss Smith." The doctor called her again.
"Yes?" she answered.
"Do you still feel any numbness in your tongue?" The doctor asked again.
"Oh, not anymore." Grace shook her head. "It feels much better."
"What about your lips?" The doctor asked again.
"They're much better now."
The doctor once again checked her pulse with the stethoscope.
After a while, he asked the nurse to measure her blood pressure.
Once the results came out, the doctor announced, "Her blood pressure is in the ideal range, and the pulse is 97, which has stabilized slightly. This means that the effects are not too serious. You can rest assured, but do not be too careless."
"No, I won't. Don't worry," Grace said hurriedly.
Heinz also looked at the doctor and said, "I see. Such a thing won't happen again."
"That's good." The doctor smiled and said, "Then both of you should take a rest. I'll head off to do some rounds."
"Okay," the both of them answered in unison.
After that, everyone left the room.
Lester went out and stood by the door. He was on alert at any time.
Grace laid on the bed, and stared at Heinz with a pitiful look.
Heinz also stared back at her.
When she saw that his red eyes were bloodshot, she asked, "Have you not slept?"
"No." Heinz answered faintly.
Grace immediately said, "Get some sleep now. I'll keep an eye on you."
"I'm not sleepy," he said.
"Your eyes are red." Grace looked at him, who was staring at her with a rare and gentle gaze.
He remained silent and said nothing.
Seeing that he wasn't moving, she blinked her eyes gently. "Go ahead."
"I'm not sleepy." He shook his head and said with a faint gaze, "I'll stand guard until your condition is completely stable."
"No need for that." Grace shook her head. "I think I'm much better now. What happened just now was just a small matter."
"You fell asleep and no one could wake you up," he said in a deep voice.
He was afraid that once she fell asleep, she would never wake up again.
He couldn't describe the fear he felt in words. So he said nothing.
"No, I was probably just too sleepy." She said.
"The doctor said you were poisoned." "Ah!" She widened her eyes. "Well, the doctor said that I'm fine now. Don't worry. I feel much better now, really."
"You do look much better." He said with gratitude. "But this doesn't mean that you're fully recovered and safe." "But I think sleeping now is the best way to conserve energy."
He still didn't move.
Grace moved to the side slightly and patted the space beside her. "Hey, if you're still worried, let's lie down and sleep together."
Heinz's eyes lit up.
"Don't just sit there, come over here. Maybe it's because it rained, but it's a little cold this evening. You're not wearing thick clothes, so you must be very tired, right?" Heinz hesitated for a moment, then took off his shoes and laid beside Grace.
Grace smiled and said, "Good, that's right."
He laid on the bed, hugged Grace, and the two of them fell asleep.
The two of them faced each other and hugged each other to sleep. They looked like husband and wife, and they looked lovely together.
