True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 306
Grace was immediately bewildered.
She sighed inwardly. What on earth was Heinz trying to do?
Based on Grace's understanding of Heinz, she believed that he would never do this. Since they had already parted ways, why would he apologize?
Heinz stared at Grace for a moment, his eyes full of emotion. He locked onto Grace's eyes and said seriously, "I admit that I was caught unaware back then. When I heard about it, I was really mad, so I spoke without restraint and said so many hurtful things.
Now that I've calmed down and thought about it, it wasn't your fault actually. I wasn't gentlemanly enough and didn't want to move on."
Grace wanted to laugh, but she was in a panic.
She lowered her bright eyes and stared at the luxurious carpet in the car. She pursed her lips, and a self-deprecating smile appeared on her lips. However, she hid her cynicism in silence.
There was no need to say anything. She felt that there was no point in his apologizing anymore.
No, maybe it was better than nothing.
At least, when she heard him apologize, she didn't feel so angry anymore. Nonetheless, she still felt a sense of bitterness within her.
After a long period of silence, Heinz received no
reply from Grace.
He was perplexed. He took a breath and said with self- mockery, "Grace, I was too shocked then. I didn't expect you to have a child already. I really couldn't accept it and was caught off guard."
Grace still kept her head lowered. She didn't want to say anything. There was no need for her to say anything.
Heinz continued, "I admit that I was too shallow. I thought that you were lying to me and taking me for a fool."
"I'm used to having everything under control, but when I suddenly realized that I couldn't control you and that there were things that I couldn't fix, I was instantly angry and lost. Perhaps I was mad at myself because I couldn't accept that."
"But now, there's nothing more important than losing you."
Grace slowly raised her eyes and looked at the man beside her. His gaze met hers. He seemed to have a lot to say, looking at her piercingly, as though he was expecting something.
Grace only licked her lips and said nothing.
Heinz frowned and said softly, "Grace?"
Grace's expression was very calm, as if she had suffered too much, and nothing hurt anymore.
After he had humiliated her, mocked her, and spoke ill of her, she had become much calmer.
At first, she felt wronged and dejected, but at this moment, she felt relieved.
But feeling relieved didn't mean that she would forgive him.
Grace looked away, fixing her gaze on the scenery outside the window. She remained silent.
"I know you're still angry." Heinz said, "I don't think I understand you enough. I don't understand myself enough either. I'm not a perfect person. I have many shortcomings. My actions saddened and hurt you, and that's my fault."
Grace felt that such an apology was meaningless after having hurt someone so deeply. He stabbed her to the bone and made her bleed, then sat on his high horse and judged her. After humiliating her, he came to apologize.
If everyone could do that, then prison wouldn't mean anything.
She didn't want to make a fuss about it, but she just felt that it was too cruel.
Grace was silent for a long time, not saying anything at all.
"Grace, can you say something?" Heinz said softly in a cautious tone, fearing that she would turn around and leave.
Grace nodded. "I accept your apology. Are you done?"
Heinz was stunned.
"Can I go now?" Grace asked again.
Heinz was stunned. He could see that Grace's attitude toward him had obviously changed.
She no longer exhibited any tenderness toward him.
There was no passion, only indifference, a calm indifference.
It was alienating.
This feeling was tormenting Heinz. It was shredding his heart.
"Grace, I'm apologizing because I want you back." Heinz finally voiced his innermost desire.
Grace was stunned. Her expression was calm, and the corners of her lips were tightly pressed together.
Heinz saw that she did not move at all.
He reached out and took her hand.
Grace did not struggle.
This made Heinz happy. He looked eagerly into her eyes and realized that they were still indifferent.
His heart suddenly went cold. "Grace, I'm serious about this. I hope you can give us a try. After all, we've been together before."
They were together before, and they had had feelings for each other. In that aspect, the two of them understood each other.
No matter how outrageous Heinz was, he couldn't deny the truth. In terms of relationship, he couldn't replace a woman who was more suited for him than Grace.
He felt differently about her.
"Heinz." Grace finally said, "Heinz, do you know that I really wanted to spend the rest of my life with you?"
Heinz felt a twinge of pain in his heart. He nodded
and said, "I know."
"No." Grace shook her head and said, "You don't. You don't know anything. Someone like you only cares about his own reputation. You're not suited for a relationship or marriage." Anger flashed in Heinz's eyes. He felt attacked, and it hurt him a lot. He said, "I know I behaved terribly, but Grace, let's try this again. We still have a long way to go. We have to try again to know whether we are meant for each other." "I've tried it. We're not," Grace said in a deep voice. "I admit that I was guarded. I was indeed guarded about my child, but it was also my instincts as a mother. I want to give my child the best."
"It was indeed my fault that I was not honest to you," Grace continued
"I no longer care about what you said to humiliate me. We are even. From now on, let's go our separate ways."
Heinz's body shook, and his heart ached. He felt so much pain, it was suffocating.
With all his strength, he slowly said, "Grace, we must work for everything we want in life. For two people to be together, we have to try to work it out together if we want to reach the finishing line. I think I can accept your child. I will treat him like my own child. Let's try it again."
Grace was stunned. "You will treat my child like your own child?" "Yes." Heinz nodded.
"Then why did you say those things?" Grace retorted, "You said I wanted your money and your power."
Heinz tensed up and said, "Grace, I was too upset then." "So, you're not upset now?" Grace said faintly and pulled her back hand forcefully. She said in a tired and cold voice, "We are not suitable for each other. Let's not hurt each other anymore. It would be a waste of time."
Heinz's eyes were full of pain. He opened his mouth, and his lips trembled. He wanted to call out her name, but the words were stuck in his throat.
Grace knew what he wanted to say. Her eyes were indifferent and full of exhaustion.
"Your ten minutes are up. Goodbye," Grace said softly. Then, she opened the door on the other side of the car and got out.
"Bang!"
The sound of a door slamming sounded.
The sound shook Heinz, and he collapsed on the back seat.
