She should not have been like that.

"You are the best version of yourself," Jensen said while holding her face in both hands. "In future, I won't allow you to slander yourself. You are not allowed to do that, understand?"

"I want to help you," she said. She couldn't remain guarded against that man. "Jensen, even though I couldn't successfully do it with you, I think there may be other ways." Jensen was taken aback by her words, and his eyes were full of unspeakable complex emotions. His deep gaze made him look even more charming and indifferent at the moment. "Alice," Jensen said after a long time. "I can endure it."

"I don't want you to endure it anymore," Alice replied with eyes full of tears.

He wanted to do it.

But she couldn't do it with him.

However, she wanted to sincerely comfort him.

She thought that she could at least do that.

Jensen's eyes widened instantly and he looked at her in disbelief. She actually reached out her hand towards him.

Once again, he was surprised.

This girl... she was really warm-hearted. She had a heart of gold, which was rare and precious.

"Uh!" Jensen took a deep breath and held her little hand.

Alice lifted her eyes and looked at him shyly.

There was a glint in his deep eyes. He said in a hoarse voice, "I'll teach you."

"Yes!" Alice nodded while blushing.

Jensen then lowered his head and kissed her affectionately.

Finally, both of them progressed to the point where Jensen felt a kind of happiness after being comforted.

However, after experiencing that, he felt extremely sorry toward Alice.

"Alice, I'm sorry." After a long time, he held her in his arms and whispered in her ear, "I didn't hold back."

"It doesn't matter," she replied while shaking her head. She felt better after that episode.

She felt very happy that she could use that method to repay Jensen.

After all of that, it was already eleven o'clock.

"Wait for me. I'll prepare something for you to eat," Jensen said softly. "You must be hungry."

"Yes, I'm a little hungry." Alice replied, "I want to eat some noodles."

"Okay," agreed Jensen.

"By the way, are you free this afternoon?" Alice asked.

"I have a meeting at two o'clock at the police

station," he replied.

Alice paused for a second and said, "Then, can I stay here?"

"Of course, you can," Jensen said in surprise. He wished that she would stay with him every day.

But on second thought, he felt that Grace might worry about her.

"What if your sister is worried about you?" Jensen asked.

"I'll give her a phone call," Alice said. "Let me call her now. Where's my phone?"

"It's outside the room. I'll get it for you," Jensen replied and got up to go outside.

After a while, he brought her mobile phone into the room.

"I'll make you some noodles. Go ahead and call your sister," Jensen said.

"Okay," she replied.

When Jensen went to the kitchen, Alice called Grace.

At the Emerald Apartment.

Right after Grace had peeled some apples for the children, the phone rang.

At that moment, Heinz entered the kitchen.

Grace passed the plate of fruits to him and said, "Take this out. Alice is calling me. I'll pick up the call." "Okay," Heinz replied and took the plate out. Then, he put it on the table and asked the two little guys to eat the fruits.

Grace answered the phone call and walked towards the room.

"Alice?" Grace said.

"Sister," Alice replied in a bright voice. She didn't sound as emotional as the night before.

Alice continued, "Sister, I'm sorry."

When Grace heard her apologizing, she immediately smiled and said, "You don't need to apologize to me."

"Sister, I'm sorry," Alice repeated seriously. However, her tone sounded a little like a spoiled kid. "I shouldn't have been so emotional yesterday. It was my fault."

"You don't need to say anything. I already know everything," Grace said softly. "Alice, I understand you."

"But I protected you like a lunatic. In that b*stard's eyes, I am a madwoman," Alice said as she felt aggrieved, but she was not as resentful as before.

"Heinz will also understand," Grace assured her softly. "Alice, if he can't understand, he doesn't deserve to be my man."

"Sister, you're too demanding," said Alice with a tinge of cheerfulness in her voice. "I feel that he doesn't deserve you. He was the cause of your misfortune."

"But he also gave me Little Gary." Grace continued, "Who is the best gift of my life."

"Uh." Alice took a deep breath and said, "Sister, I love you."

"Silly girl, I love you too." Grace was moved by Alice's words, and her voice reflected her feelings. She said in a gentle voice, "We rely on each other for survival in the past, present and in future." "Yes, we're interdependent," Alice replied and her eyes were watery. "Sister, I won't go home today, okay?"

Grace was startled and asked, "Are you afraid of being the third wheel?"

"It's not entirely because of that." Alice explained, "I was with Jensen yesterday. I feel that what you said makes sense. I should move forward and take the first step."

"So?" Grace asked. She could tell that there was an underlying meaning to her words.

"So I took a step forward," Alice replied.

"And what was the result?" Grace asked again.

"I failed in the end," Alice answered regretfully.

Grace was shocked. It seemed that she didn't succeed.

However, she felt much relieved in her heart.

It might not necessarily be a good thing to proceed too fast.

It was not necessarily a bad thing to progress together, to try slowly and finally succeeded together.

But from Alice's voice, Grace sensed a mixture of regret and joy.

It was as if everything was heading in the right direction.

"You seem to be very happy," Grace said.

"Yeah," Alice did not conceal it from her dearest sister. "Sister, I think that Jensen is a good person."

Grace laughed in her heart and said, "Then, don't bully him in future."

"Sister, when did I bully him?" Alice denied.

"You always felt that he was an eyesore," Grace said.

Alice was suddenly speechless.

Alright.

Her attitude toward Jensen was bad most of the time, but that was the way she treated every man.

She was actually quite polite to Jensen.

"You just need to be sure of what you are doing. Jensen is a good person," Grace added softly. "You can come back home at any time. No one will treat you as a third wheel." "Sister," Alice called.

"Don't worry. If I feel that it's inconvenient, I may go over to Heinz's place," Grace replied.

"Sister!" Alice called again.

"I'm serious," Grace repeated. "It's not that I replace it inconvenient but this place is a little small. It's a bit annoying to bump into him all the time."

"Why do I feel like that is something to be happy about?" Alice commented.

"Then you should share that kind of happiness with Jensen," Grace said. "In future, I will let Heinz take charge of caring for our child."

"Sister, what if Little Gary and I grow distant?" Alice

asked.

"It's impossible. You'll forever be his aunt. He's interested in Heinz now, but when his excitement dies down, he might not bother with him anymore," Grace said. "Alright," Alice then responded. "Let's do this then."

"Yes, let's do it," Grace echoed and hung up the phone afterwards. In a blink of an eye, she saw Heinz standing behind her, silently staring at her with a gloomy face. She was surprised. Then, she asked, "When did you come in?"
