True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 369
Chief Stone saw some stretch marks. Although they were very faint, they did not escape her trained eyes. After all, she had seen many similar cases before during her work.
She knew Grace's condition at a glance. Grace had been pregnant before.
She was shocked and a little suspicious in her heart. She was unsure whether Heinz was aware of that.
Grace, who was lying on the examination bed, realized that Chief Stone was staring at her stomach. After Chief Stone's gaze fell on her stomach, she was motionless for a while and seemed to be in a contemplative mood.
She was also surprised.
At that moment, Dr. Ross whispered to Chief Stone, "Chief Stone, the endometrium is shedding. It should be the menstrual period."
Chief Stone immediately came to her senses and looked into Grace's eyes. She was stunned for a moment and then smiled. After that, she moved her gaze away without exposing her thoughts. It was as if nothing had happened.
Grace was not sure what Chief Stone had seen.
Grace felt that Chief Stone was acting a little strange. Perhaps, she as a doctor could tell that Grace was once pregnant.
Then, Grace saw Chief Stone nod at Dr. Ross. Looking at the screen of the scanning machine, Chief Stone frowned and said, "The shape of the uterus is normal, and the ligaments are also fine." "Yes, the shape is normal, but the uterine wall is a little thin," said the doctor.
"Why is the uterine wall a little thin?" Chief Stone asked while looking at Grace suspiciously. Suddenly, she seemed to realize something after a thought crossed her mind.
Grace's heart skipped a beat. She couldn't help but ask, "Is it a bad thing if the uterine wall is thin?"
"It might pose a problem," Chief Stone replied while looking deeply into Grace's eyes and frowned. "Strictly speaking, it's only good if nothing is wrong."
"Will it affect me in any way?" Grace asked again as she didn't know what she meant.
She seemed to remember that when Marry suffered from a miscarriage previously, the doctor had also said that her uterine wall was very thin.
Could it be that everyone in their family was like that?
"Don't worry." Chief Stone comforted her, "I'll explain to you later."
Grace nodded in agreement, but she was still a little worried.
Then, the two doctors discussed in medical terms, which she couldn't understand. So, Grace listened in a daze.
Dr. Ross examined her very carefully. After the examination was over, she passed a piece of tissue to Grace so that she could wipe off the ultrasound gel. Grace tidied herself up quickly.
"Chief Stone, I will send you the report later after I have written it," said Dr. Ross.
"Okay," said Chief Stone. Then, she went back to her room with Grace.
Heinz and Lester were still waiting at the door.
"How is it?" Heinz asked.
"Wait," replied Chief Stone as she glanced at him and took Grace in. She closed the door and walked to the chair. Then, she sat down and looked at Grace. Her eyes were sharp and she was not as polite as before.
Grace didn't know what was going on. She could only look at Chief Stone with her lips pursed and said, "Chief Stone, if you have something to say, you can tell me directly." She thought that the doctor had discovered that she had an illness.
However, Chief Stone asked directly, "Young lady, have you given birth before?"
Grace was astonished. Once again, she was surprised by Chief Stone's superb medical skills. It turned out that Chief Stone could tell from just now.
In fact, she did not have any scars and her skin had recovered very well in the past few years.
She had not expected Chief Stone's sharp eyes to catch that detail.
"Yes," Grace nodded without hiding anything from her.
Chief Stone was stunned. A light flashed in her eyes and she said, "Does Heinz know about it?"
Grace nodded and said, "Yes, he knows."
Chief Stone was shocked again. After a long while, she said, "Well, since he knows, I won't comment about it."
Grace felt very strange.
Chief Stone's attitude toward her changed drastically in an instant. She was much colder now.
Grace thought, "Perhaps Chief Stone has misunderstood me. She might think that I'm unworthy to be with Heinz since I have had a child."
"I'll prescribe some supplements for you. You need to take the supplements for a period of time to improve your body," Chief Stone said. Grace was startled and asked, "Do I have to take supplements?"
"Yes, take the supplements," Chief Stone said. "Don't underestimate the benefits of supplements and think that it's too troublesome to take it every day. You can really feel the effects from it. There are many doctors in my family in every generation and all of us take supplements. I have lived for more than 60 years now. What do you think of my physique?"
Grace was really surprised. She asked in disbelief, "Are you over 60 years old?"
"Yes, I'm 68 years old now." Chief Stone said, "I've been retired for many years but I've been rehired. I
don't look 68 years old, do I?"
"I thought you were at most 50 years old," Grace replied. She had guessed that Chief Stone might be a bit older than how she looked. However, she had not expected Chief Stone's actual age to be so much older than what she had guessed.
It seemed that she was truly an accomplished doctor.
"I like what you just said," Chief Stone smiled and said. "These supplements have to be taken for three months. Try them for three months first. After that, you can come back for a check- up. Remember, during this period of time, you must not get pregnant."
Grace was stunned and blushed. Then, she nodded and said, "I don't plan to have a child."
Chief Stone pondered for a moment and said, "Young lady, you don't want children but the Jones family is not an ordinary family."
Grace smiled and stayed silent.
Chief Stone looked at her again, and there was a trace of doubt in her eyes. She didn't seem to understand or know why Heinz had taken a fancy to Grace.
A woman with a child.
Chief Stone didn't probe further.
Soon, Chief Stone wrote a prescription and said to Grace, "Give this to Heinz and ask him to come in. I want to talk to him alone." "Okay." Grace picked up the prescription and thanked Chief Stone. Then, she left the room.
When she got outside, Heinz, who saw her coming out, immediately came up to her.
Grace said, "This is the prescription. I'll go and get the medicine. Chief Stone wants to see you alone."
Heinz was startled as if he just realized something. He said to Lester, "Lester, take Grace to get the medicine and ask them to write clearly the instructions on how to take this medicine."
"Yes, Sir," Lester said as he took the prescription and left with Grace.
When she turned around, Grace looked up and saw Chief Stone's eyes staring at the pots of green aloe veras on the windowsill. Chief Stone's eyes seemed to be fixed on the spot, and she had a deep look on her face.
A glint of surprise flashed through Grace's eyes.
Heinz had already walked into the room.
The door was closed instantly.
After her view was blocked, Grace followed Lester and left.
As soon as he entered the room, Heinz sat down on the sofa and said to Chief Stone, "Aunt Stone, are you looking for me?"
"Heinz," Chief Stone turned her head and stood up. Then, she walked over to the sofa and sat down as well. She asked, "Are you serious?"
"Of course, I'm serious." Heinz answered, "Aunt Stone, if I'm not serious, would I have brought Grace here to see a doctor?" "I know, you must be serious," Chief Stone replied as she looked at the aloe veras again and sighed softly.
Heinz was startled when he saw the aloe veras. He was somewhat in a daze.
He said, "Aunt Stone, let bygones be bygones. Don't be sad anymore."
"Do you know Grace?" Chief Stone asked, "Do you know everything about this girl?"
Heinz did not know what Chief Stone meant.
He frowned and said right away, "Aunt Stone, if you have something to say, just tell me directly."
