True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 400
Grace waited at the entrance of the kindergarten.
After picking up Little Gary, they bid farewell to Butler Holland and Ernest.
"Ernest, let's have dinner together tomorrow night. I will take Little Gary with me today. You'll have dinner with your dad, okay?"
There was a hint of displeasure in Ernest's big eyes, but the child was very sensible. Regardless of what he felt, he had never shown emotions that would embarrass the adults.
The little fellow nodded and replied obediently, "Okay, Aunt Smith. Tomorrow! You must keep your promise!"
Grace felt a twinge in her heart.
She stepped forward and gave Ernest a hug. "Ernest, I promise you that we will have dinner together tomorrow."
"Can I go to your house tomorrow?"
"Of course," she assured him.
"Alright," said Ernest with a smile on his little face. "Then I'll go now. Goodbye, Aunt Smith. Goodbye, Gary!"
"Goodbye!" Little Gary replied.
Grace held Little Gary's hand and they walked back together.
Gary asked Grace in surprise, "Mommy, why do you want me to go back? Do you have something to tell me?"
"I just want to be with you today. Only you and me," Grace said softly.
Little Gary tightened his grip on Grace's hand. "Mommy, what's wrong with you? Anything happened?" "Nothing," Grace said. "Let's go and grab some groceries. I'll cook your favorite dishes."
"Alright!"
Off they went to the supermarket and bought some groceries needed. Then, they made their way home.
Walking upstairs and arriving at the door, they saw that Simon was waiting for them.
Grace was taken aback. She frowned and wondered why he was there.
Little Gary, too, was surprised to see him. "Mommy, don't tell me this is the surprise you're going to give me."
"You go in first." Grace took out the keys, opened the door, and let Little Gary in.
Simon stood at the side and fixed his eyes on Grace. However, he did not utter a word.
Little Gary entered the house and looked at Grace worriedly.
Grace shook her head at him and comforted, "Wash your hands and get changed first, okay? I will come in right away."
"Okay," said Little Gary before he stole a glance at Simon again. Then, he entered the house.
Grace looked at Simon and asked, "What are you doing here?"
"Grace," Simon began. "I'm here to apologize to you."
"Please leave now," Grace said coldly. "You're not welcome here."
"Grace." Simon pursed his lips and smiled bitterly. He uttered, "I know you think that I'm annoying and you're disappointed in me."
Grace rolled her eyes and blurted out, "You're not worth my time."
She opened the door and was about to enter the house.
Simon reached out his hand to block her way.
Frowning, Grace said, "Get out of my way."
"Grace, let me just say a few words." He began, "I feel so ashamed to come and see you. I know I was wrong. I was framed by Marry..."
"Simon, everyone can make their own choices," Grace cut him off. "The past is in the past. No matter what you choose, I hope that your judgment isn't skewed. The most important thing is that you're sure of what you want."
Simon blurted out, "I just want you."
Grace frowned and straightened her back. She was disgusted by Simon's words.
He gave a self-deprecating smile and said, "I know, I am not worthy."
"Please don't say those irrelevant words again," Grace said frigidly.
Simon smiled bitterly and spoke, "I'm getting a divorce with Marry. She might vent her anger on you. Be careful, Grace."
Grace was surprised. She didn't expect him to say that.
Looking at him, she frowned and asked, "Have you made up your mind?"
"Yes," Simon nodded. "I can't live any longer with her. I used to feel sorry for her, but now, I despise her."
Grace couldn't help sighing.
Before this, she didn't hate Simon as much as how she hated him at that moment. She didn't even want to see him.
It was hard to judge a person's mind.
Grace opened the door and said indifferently, "Simon, no matter what is the outcome of your choice, it's your life. I wish you happiness."
With that, she went into the house and closed the door.
Simon stood rooted to the spot.
He looked at the closed door with a flash of regret and frustration in his eyes.
In the end, he could only leave with a heavy heart and complicated emotions.
When Grace entered the house, she noticed that Little Gary had not changed his clothes yet. He looked at her and then poked his out of the door. "Mommy, is he gone?" he asked.
"I don't know," Grace shook her head. "Please go and get changed. I'll start cooking after I get changed too."
"Is Little Aunt not coming back?" Little Gary asked.
"She has been busy recently."
"Is she dating Uncle Charm?"
"Yes."
"Are they getting closer now?" Little Gary asked, ever the busybody.
"Probably," Grace replied.
"I heard what Uncle Simon said. Is he going to divorce Aunt Marry?"
Startled, Grace shook her head and said, "I don't know. It's their business."
"But he seems to have feelings for you." Little Gary said angrily, "Just now, he even said that he wanted you! Hmph, why doesn't he look at himself in the mirror?"
Grace was dumbfounded by her son's level of understanding.
"He's not as handsome as Heinz, and not as capable as Heinz. Also, he didn't have a child with you. How dare he try to pursue you!"
"Gary!" Grace said firmly, "Stop saying that!"
"Mommy, do you still have feelings for Uncle Simon?"
"Since when I had feelings for him?" Grace responded and walked to her room.
Little Gary followed behind her. "So, do you like Heinz?"
Grace looked at him and said, "Little Gary, don't get caught up in my affairs, okay?"
"Mommy, why did you ask me to come and have dinner with you? What do you want to say to me?"
"I want to tell you to respect your father," Grace said. "He is a good man who values friends and family. You should be calling him dad, not Heinz. It will make people think that you lack manners."
Gary was stunned, his expression full of suspicion. "Well, I can call him dad. But mommy, it's so weird that you suddenly have so much respect for him. What happened?"
"Gary Smith," Grace called his name in a serious tone.
Little Gary immediately stood up straight. He had a guilty and obedient look at the same time. "Mommy, I should be calling him dad willingly, instead of being forced to. Am I right?" "You're not willing to call him dad?" It gave Grace a headache.
"It's not the right time. I can't do it."
Grace sighed. She knew that Little Gary was very opinionated, and it seemed that she could not force her way on him.
"Little Gary, I just want you to know that your father likes you very much. He would be very happy to hear you call him dad."
"Mommy, I think if you call him hubby, he would be even more glad, wouldn't he?" Little Gary pouted and said, "If you don't believe me, go ahead and call him hubby. I can guarantee that he'd smile to his heart's
content!"
