True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 406
Grace was stunned momentarily. She opened her mouth but no words came out.
What should she say?
Alice looked at her, surprised, "Grace?"
Grace suddenly came to her senses and smiled.
Suddenly, Heinz's voice came from outside, "What are you two talking about? Hurry up and get us some food."
Grace turned to look at Heinz and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Perfect timing," Grace thought to herself.
She picked up the food and passed them to Heinz. "Take these out. Let's eat."
"Are you two having some girl talk?" Heinz suddenly realized something. "It seems that I came at the wrong time."
"Too late for that," Alice rolled her eyes at him. "I don't know how you became the head of a company. You couldn't even read the room." Then, she left the kitchen with the dishes.
Heinz gaped helplessly at her before looking at Grace.
"Don't argue with her, for my sake," Grace laughed. "You came in at the right time. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known how to answer her." "I won't." Heinz's heart immediately softened. "Alice is very protective o you."
"We're close," Grace said, "She will accept you eventually, Little Gary, too. Can't you see that they had actually accepted you? It's just a matter of pride."
Heinz went black for a moment. Suddenly, as if he finally understood something, he let out a laugh.
"What you said makes sense," he said.
Grace laughed too.
"So, what were you two talking about just now?" Heinz asked her.
"It's a secret," Grace said with a wink. "Come on, let's eat."
It had been a close call. She would have to be more careful with her words next time.
With the addition of Alice and Jensen, the dinner was livelier.
Everyone sat around the dining table and the atmosphere was warm.
Alice made eye contact with Heinz several times. Although she was still not very friendly, it was obviously much better than before.
Alice also stole glances at Grace and Jensen.
Somehow, she felt that something was amiss
After dinner, Alice left with Jensen. On the way back, Alice asked him straightaway, "Are you and Grace keeping a secret from me?"
As a police officer, Jensen naturally had a calm temperament.
He tightened his grip on the steering wheel and took a glimpse at Alice calmly. "Why are you asking that?"
"I could just sense that you two seem to have a secret," Alice frowned and said.
"What makes you think so?" he asked, smiling. "She will probably be my sister-in-law in the future. What kind of secret can I share with my sister-in-law?" "It's just weird," Alice said. "That's what I think."
"You're too sensitive."
"Maybe."
"What did you talk about in the kitchen?" Jensen asked, acting inadvertent.
Alice thought for a moment and replied, "We talked about Ernest."
Jensen was startled. There was a flash across his eyes. "Speaking of secret, that's indeed a secret, about the identity of Ernest."
Alice suddenly laughed. "That's it? The secret that Grace knows but I don't."
"Ernest is not Heinz's biological child. I found him during a crackdown operation on an illegal child trafficking scheme. Nobody took him in, and Heinz decided to adopt him after seeing him only once." "He decided to adopt Ernest after their first meeting?" Alice was very surprised. "Is he such a kind person?"
"Of course." Jensen smiled and said, "Heinz has a kind heart. It's just that he has a bad temper. Apart from that, he is overall a decent man. Otherwise, I wouldn't have agreed to be his brother for life." Alice nodded, "Oh! Well, that's a brownie point! I admit that my impression of him has changed a lot. But poor Ernest, he was abandoned by his parents at such a young age."
"Heinz has been treating him as his own child. It's just that he is not spending much time with him," Jensen said. "This child is very obedient and well-behaved, which makes people adore him very much." "I like him too. My heart aches for him," Alice said. "Since the first time I met him, I've taken a liking to him. Grace and Little Gary too."
"I'm no exception. We all like him. He is indeed a lovely child," Jensen agreed.
Alice nodded.
They made their way to Hart Villa District.
"Jensen, do you have to work tonight?"
"Yes. I will send you back first before going to the station. I should be back around midnight."
"Okay. It must be hard for you," Alice said sincerely.
"It's okay. I like my profession. Thus, I cherish my job very much."
When they arrived at Hart Villa District, they entered the house together.
Suddenly, Alice turned to look at Jensen.
She asked him, "Jensen, will you ever leave me?"
He was taken aback by her sudden question. "Why are you asking?"
"If... If I still can't do it, will you leave me?"
Alice had always thought that men were sensual animals. If they could not be satisfied for a long time, they might lose interest easily.
Jensen shook his head firmly and said without any hesitation, "I won't leave you. Unless you are the one who wants to leave me, but I don't think I will allow it."
"Why?" Alice was puzzled.
"Because I like you," Jensen said solemnly.
Moisture welled up in Alice's eyes and she couldn't hold it in any longer.
She abruptly turned around and said, "It's... it's time for you to leave."
Jensen hugged her from behind and said softly, "Alice, you don't have to feel sorry. And also, I am not a man who only wants your body. My love for you is not that supercifical. I am a responsible man." She pursed her lips and nodded.
Jensen couldn't help worrying, Alice had almost seen through him that day.
It seemed that he had to put more effort in keeping the secret.
Moreover, it was time to move on to the next level with her.
"But Jensen." Alice was still not that reassured. "I'm a bit worried. If I really couldn't make it, it'll be too unfair to you."
"I have a way. It won't fail you," he said.
"What's that?" Alice suddenly turned around and looked at him, her face full of curiosity. "Hurry up and tell me. Let's try!"
"Medication," Jensen said. "Sedatives."
"Huh?"
"I know, you are terrified of the pain." After thinking for a while, he added, "If you take some sedatives, you might be able to get through this."
Alice was shocked by his suggestion.
"Then what are you waiting for?" she asked.
"I think it's better that we only do this as a last resort. If we work hard and have our hearts close together, we could break through this. I don't want us to be controlled by medication." Smiling, Alice said, "Thank you, Jensen. Go now, I'll wait for you."
He nodded, "Go to bed first. Don't wait for me."
However, as soon as Jensen left, Alice immediately went downstairs.
She walked toward the pharmacy.
