Lawrence's face was pale and he seemed to have lost his previous confidence.

He looked at Heinz intently.

He remained quiet for a long time.

Their gazes met, but they didn't say anything. There was a silent game between them.

Lawrence wanted to see clearly what his son was thinking.

But he was disappointed that he couldn't see the real emotions in Heinz's eyes.

He knew that his son was really exasperated and hated him.

He knew that his son was no longer the child he used to be. His son was very mature now and he could no longer understand his son's thoughts at first sight. Lawrence couldn't help but sigh. He was really getting old.

However, he did not expect his son to want to send Lowell to a place where it was crowded with people with AIDS, to relieve his hatred. It was so unbelievable.

Heinz was still looking at him apathetically. He thought Heinz didn't mean it. Maybe his son deliberately said it to make him angry.

He spoke again, "You see, he's just a child. Why do you have to wreak vengeance on a child?"

"You are very funny. Do you know what Grace and Alice have gone through? That's easier said than done."

Lawrence tried to persuade his son, "In my opinion, Grace should not be aggrieved. On the other hand, there seems to be a kind of resentment in you. I thought you have never been with your mother-in-law, so how do you know what her behavior is like? What makes you so furious with her?"

Heinz sneered and said, "Tell me, how should I think of a woman who abandons two of her daughters? Should I respect her for abandoning her children? Should I admire her for eloping with others? Or should I praise her for being so courageous in pursuing her love?"

Lawrence knitted his brow and said, "Anyway, you shouldn't vent your anger on a child, right?"

Heinz continued to say, "His parents have abandoned him and left him to us. Why don't we have the right to be angry? You are very strange. You seem to be indignant for my brother-in-law and you care so much about him. In this case, it's better for you to raise him!"

Lawrence clenched his fist and said patiently, "I just want to advise you to be kind to others. It's not easy for a child. He will thank you if you raise him."

Heinz said with a smirk, "Forget it! My grandfather treated you very well and allowed you to make such achievements in the Carter family. But in return for his kindness, you abandoned his daughter. I don't think it would be a good idea for me to raise a person because he might return my kindness in the same way that you did. Therefore, why should I waste my time and energy on an irrelevant person? I'm already having trouble devoting more time to my own children."

"Even so, you shouldn't send him to Alsburg," Lawrence raised his voice while saying it, sounding a little agitated.

Heinz said with a sneer, "Hey, why are you getting irritated? It almost sounds like the one who would be sent to Alsburg is your son since you care about him so much. To be honest, you are in no position to judge me."

"You can't even take good care of your own son, yet you are asking me to raise someone else's? And Grace's mother didn't take care of her and Alice at all, so how could she ask Grace to raise a child on her behalf? How can you be so self-righteous?"

"Are you out of your mind?"

"I've been wondering why there are so many selfish people in the world. Now, I get it. It's because of the existence of people like you. You are so unreasonable that you ask others to treat you generously despite being an egocentric person yourself."

This quarrel seemed to be getting more and more intense. Lawrence seemed to be unaware of what his son was thinking. He could only notice a kind of rage in Heinz.

And it looked like Heinz could not suppress it any longer. The more they spoke, the angrier he became.

Lawrence narrowed his eyes slightly, and his heart skipped a beat. Could it be that his son had already known Lowell's background?

He tried to figure it out, but eventually, he felt it was impossible since no one had spoken on that matter before.

Heinz shouldn't be able to replace out about it.

At least not so quickly.

That day, he came to hear his son out and to make sure that Lowell had settled down with them.

However, at that moment, there was a heavy atmosphere, and he felt that Heinz was really vexed, so he couldn't tell him his real purpose.

It seemed that Lowell's background had to be kept a secret.

"Alright, I admit that I might have gone too far in asking that of you, but after all, it's an innocent life. It's not very wise to send him to Alsburg, as that would harm the child. You can be a philanthropist, so why can't you accept your brother-in-law?"

Heinz nodded. "Yes, I'm also curious about this. Why can't I be nice to my brother-in-law in spite of my donations to charity? I think there is only one answer, and that is, I'm too angry. My mother-in-law used to commit a lot of misdeeds, and now it affects her son. This is retribution."

"Does Grace also think that way?" Lawrence asked cautiously.

Heinz stared sharply at his father and intentionally said it in a way to make it sound bloody, "Yes, I asked Grace to slap Lowell a few times everyday. Anyway, it's a pleasure for us during our free time. Besides, we can take revenge on my mother-in-law, so that she would not be at ease even if she died."

Lawrence was stunned for a moment. He clenched his fists, struggling for control.

Heinz's gaze fell on Lawrence's fists. He smiled and said, "What's wrong? Why are you so excited? Why are you clenching your fists? Are you trying to hit me?"

Lawrence was taken aback as he saw his son looking at him with a mocking smile.

He moved his throat, trying to speak, but it was hard for him to open his mouth.

He looked at Heinz who was in front of him. This was his son, but Lawrence couldn't speak a word.

However, he couldn't end the conversation just like that, not before they reached a conclusion regarding Lowell.

With an ashen face, he said dejectedly, "Heinz, you are hostile to me."

"Why should I be friendly to you?" Heinz retorted.

Lawrence smiled bitterly and said, "It seems that it's really hard for you to forgive me."

Heinz said, "That's right; it's impossible. I guess I might hate you until the last second of my life."

Lawrence looked at him for a while, then slowly said, "If you really don't want to raise Lowell, hand him over to me. I'll raise him."

Heinz sneered, "Why should I send him to you? If I hand him over to you, how am I going to send him to Alsburg? How will I eliminate the hatred in my heart? How can Grace and Alice deal with the fury in their hearts? We need a punching bag to pour out our wrath on. Did you just ask me to hand him over to you? It's easy for you to ask that of me. What's your relationship with him? I guess you must have been spoiled by others and always think that you are right when nobody voices out an objection. Am I right?"

"Even so, we shouldn't send the child away." Lawrence was a bit anxious.

Heinz looked at him and said calmly, "it's none of your business. I'm in charge of the matter, so it's my call to decide his future."
