Grace and Alice, who were hiding in the closet of the ward, were shocked.

Through the narrow gap of the door, they saw Lawrence gently kissing Candace's forehead, a kiss so precious, however, they were completely shocked.

Grace then saw Lawrence gently reach out to hold Candace's hand, looking so gentle that even his eyes were filled with deep appreciation.

Grace frowned and felt astonished. She could only use the word "shock" to describe how she felt at the moment.

Alice tugged at Grace's clothes. Grace knew very well that Alice was as shocked as she was. They were stunned and felt that the way Candace was being appreciated by Lawrence was surprising. Even a young couple who were madly in love would probably not be as intimate nor cherished one another the way Lawrence and Candace did with each other.

The actions were so gentle, as if Lawrence was taking care of precious porcelain, afraid that it would shatter from the slightest touch.

They were both stunned, but they couldn't make a single sound. They could only watch quietly.

"Candace, can you wake up? I want to hear you speak." Lawrence gently shook Candace.

But Candace didn't wake up. Her eyes were tightly shut, and her breathing was smooth. It seemed that she was really asleep.

Lawrence's gentle movement did not wake Candace. He sighed and said, "It seems like you really are tired. Over the years, you have worked so hard. It's time for you to have a good sleep. You should rest well now."

"I know that I can't take you away as it is not good for your body. Although I miss you, I can't selfishly whisk you off, so you should stay here to recuperate."

"It's late now, and most people are asleep. I haven't slept well for many days. I want to lie down with you and not do anything. I just want to snuggle and sleep next to you."

"But I also know that there is not much time left, and the time we have together is decreasing."

"I know very well that we are in our last of days. You don't have much time left, but I can't keep you by my side openly and spend the rest of your remaining days with you. Candace, it's so arduous for you to be with me.

Grace listened carefully. She didn't understand the underlying meaning of what Lawrence was saying.

She really wanted to listen and catch as many details as possible from what Lawrence was saying.

He looked at Candace who was on the bed in a daze and did not move for a long time.

Alice couldn't sit still any longer. She reached out her hand to signal for Grace to leave. But Grace shook her head. She hadn't heard much, so they couldn't leave yet.

They needed some patience.

Eventually, they waited long enough.

"Candace!" After a long while, Lawrence said, "Our son, Lowell, was badly beaten. I don't know where Lowell is now, and that's why I said that we did the wrong thing. We shouldn't have sent Lowell to them. This was a wrong and dangerous decision, and has caused our son to get injured."

Upon hearing this, Alice got mad. She motioned to pull Grace over and was ready to rush out.

Grace held Alice's hand tightly to prevent her from leaving.

Grace shook her head.

Alice opened her eyes wide. She couldn't understand why Grace refused to leave.

Grace couldn't help feeling that something was amiss. If they were to get out now, what would be revealed?

It was better to annihilate them while he was in action.

Seeing that Grace did not move, Alice stopped moving.

She looked at Grace and pouted.

Lawrence stood up suddenly. He sighed and said, "I'm leaving, Candace!"

After saying that, he placed something under the pillow.

Grace and Alice saw this.

After Lawrence left, they stayed in the closet for a while, making sure that the surroundings was safe, and then they came out of the closet.

Alice immediately ran to the bedside, lifted the pillow, and looked at what was below.

She saw a note under the pillow that said: Operation in two nights' time.

"Operation in two nights' time?" Alice frowned and asked subconsciously. "What are they doing? What on earth do they plan to do? Why leave her such a note? That's really abominable."

Grace took the paper and looked at it. The handwriting carried a sense of vigor and power, and the penship was good. It was probably Lawrence's handwriting. However, he wrote on this piece of paper and left it here. What was he trying to do? It puzzled them.

"Lawrence and Candace are still showing off their love at such an old age. How could they do such a disgusting thing and plan so many fretful things? It's detestable," Alice mumbled, and her opinion on Lawrence and Candace went to the extreme. "Lowell is the product of their love from a moment of passion, but they refuse to raise Lowell. Shouldn't they be ashamed of themselves?"

The door opened.

Grace and Alice looked at the door at the same time and saw Jensen standing at the door. He looked at them and frowned. "You girls didn't come out?"

Grace shook her head. "I didn't think it was the right time, so I didn't come out. Lawrence left this note."

Jensen rushed over and took the note in his hand. He read it and asked, "What are they going to do on the night after tomorrow?"

"We certainly don't know what they're planning to do, but these two old people definitely do. This is their secret plan." Alice said to Jensen, "You are a policeman. You should be able to tell, right? Anyway, I can' figure it out. What Lawrence is doing has gone too far. They are shameless, no one knows what they are going to do!"

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

Little Alice looked at her mother, who was lying on the bed, with full indignation. The more she looked at her mother, the more irritated she became. Candace was her mother, but she had betrayed Alice's father.

Candace and Lawrence had a child together. The more Alice thought about it, the more she wanted to strangle Candace.

She said furiously, "They are going to take action the night after tomorrow, and he's changing the time. Why not, let her read the note tomorrow night and see how she reacts, and then learn some clues from her reaction."

Jensen and Grace made eye contact and looked at Alice at the same time. They felt that Alice's angry expression to be amusing, and what she said was very useful.

Jensen smiled slightly and said, "That's a good idea. I should ask our police to imitate the writing of this note and leave it here."

"No, it's fine. I'll do it." Grace said, "Bring me a pen.

Jensen had a pen with him. The bodyguard found a similar piece of paper and handed it to Grace.

She imitated the elegant handwriting at the table and changed the note into "operation in tomorrow night".
