Lawrence was terrible.

From his tone, and what he said, Timothy could naturally tell that he was full of jealousy and wicked thoughts.

"Are you trying to get an edge over me by saying these things? You're trying to hit my sore spot, and make me feel even more guilty for my daughter."

Lawrence raised his eyebrows. "Do you feel guilty for your daughter?"

"Of course I feel guilty," Timothy said in a low voice. "I'm not like you, who can do your children wrong and still act like it's something natural to the point where you hide it. I think you must feel guilty, and you are afraid of saying it in fear that they will hate you."

"No matter what, your daughter married my divorcee child. Your heart must hurt." Lawrence felt even cockier. It was as if he was happy about being able to one-up him.

"What's wrong with being a divorcee? It's not a big deal, as long as they love each other until they're old and grey. Don't think I'm a stubborn old man. I'm telling you, I'm not. As long as my daughter is happy, it doesn't matter who she marries. What's important is whether she is happy, and whether she can feel fulfilled."

"Your son is lucky to marry my daughter and give birth to two such wonderful grandsons. You should feel your ancestors smiling down on you."

"Oh, that's not it!"

"I'm afraid your ancestors haven't done anything virtuous. The ones who have been virtuous are Old Master Carter and his wife. If it wasn't for his virtuosity, how could he have two such smart and lovely great- grandsons?"

"As for you, you're irresponsible, and you've even come here to belittle me in an attempt to subdue me. Only someone with bare conscience would care this much."

Lawrence replied, "From the moment you refuted me, your conscience has been bare as well." He didn't compromise, and his eyes were still full of pride.

Timothy smiled lightly and reminded him, saying, "Let me remind you that you seem to have forgotten the purpose of you coming here. I don't have time to chat with you. I'm going to see my daughter and my two grandsons later, and I don't have much time to talk to you about such meaningless topics."

Lawrence was stunned. He had not seen those two children yet.

They were Lawrence's own grandsons.

Timothy wanted to show off in front of him, saying he was going to see the two children. Lawrence squinted his eyes and sneered, "Don't come at me with this!"

Timothy smiled slightly, and his attitude became even more arrogant.

Lawrence's voice was sharp, "Are you trying to pressure me with this? Trying to agitate me? The two children have already gone to school today. You won't be able to see them even if you want to." Timothy narrowed his eyes. It seemed that Lawrence was keeping watch on Heinz and Grace. He really had all kinds of means.

Timothy was not angry. He only smiled faintly and said, "Then I'll go see my daughter, and wait there to have dinner. If I want to have dinner there, my daughter and son-in-law likely won't refuse me. On the other hand, if you want to do so, I'm afraid it wouldn't be that easy."

"You!" Lawrence frowned tightly and tried to calm himself down. "You're irritating me so much, and you still say that you're not trying to hit my sore spot?" "I am trying to hit your sore spot," Timothy confessed. "If your heart can still feel pain, you should know that what you've done has seriously hurt Grace and Heinz. You keep saying unnecessary things, but you can't admit your mistakes and take responsibility for what you have done. Didn't your parents teach you anything?"

"Then what did you do? Didn't you abandon Candace? Now, you're on your high horse criticizing me. What right do you have to do that?"

The two of them were on edge, and looked as if they were about to fight. Their voices were getting louder and louder, and they looked incredibly agitated.

There was no clear winner.

Although they were desperately holding back their emotions, they couldn't control their inner regret and anger.

The cries of fury and unwillingness in their veins were so concentrated that they were going to burst.

Lawrence said coldly, "Why are you asking me to do something that you can't do yourself? Everyone is selfish. I don't think it's wrong to think for myself. If you hadn't thought about your own feelings and your own life, and instead selflessly offered yourself up, you and Candace would have amounted to something." "She would never have married Anderson, and you would never have married someone else. Everyone is selfish; the only difference is how selfish they are. You're not a completely selfless person, so why do you need to say that about me?"

"I'm not asking outsiders, I'm asking my son and daughter-in-law. I don't think they're irrelevant. Heinz is my son, and I raised him for a long time. I don't think I haven't contributed anything. For Heinz's sake, I trembled in fear for decades in my marriage."

"Could it be that I haven't done anything for him? Can you really say that I've never given, and only taken?" Asked Lawrence.

"I seriously don't want to talk to you. You're so unreasonable. Your words seem reasonable, but every word of yours is full of intense selfishness," Timothy said in a low voice. "You only think about yourself, and don't want to give anything at all."

"We're the same," Lawrence said in a low voice. "You and I are two sides of the same coin. Neither of us gets to say anything about the other." Timothy naturally understood what he meant. The two of them were like children fighting, and neither of them gave way to the other.

The aggression in their words became more and more obvious, and the atmosphere in the office was filled with tension.

Lawrence even said, "Don't be cocky. Even if you get cocky, so what? Those two children still have the Jones name."

Timothy refused to back down. "You seem to have made a mistake. One of them is a Smith."

"Yeah, they're a Smith. It's not your surname either, is it? There's no connection with being a Yarbrough at all, so you're just a nobody!" Lawrence was even cockier.

Timothy's face stiffened. It was true that they had nothing to do with him.

It was true that he had never contributed anything, so even if they had no connection with him, he could understand that, and felt comforted in his heart. That was his daughter, and his daughter's children. Thinking of this, he still felt very comforted.

"So what? They're still my grandsons, and she's still my daughter. What about you? They obviously know that they're your grandsons, but they ignored you."

"You have nothing. You're alone now. Even the so-called lover that you were proud of, Candace, doesn't really love you. Why are you saying these nonsensical and meaningless things here?"

These words suddenly stung Lawrence's heart. He couldn't move for a long time. He looked at Timothy in a daze and suddenly said angrily, "I want to see Candace. You have to help me."

"I'll do it in exchange for the truth about the news incident. Tell me the truth, and I can help you see Candace once." Timothy did not continue to put him in a tough position.
