He hesitated.

Should he answer the phone this time?

Candace retorted and asked, "Why don't you dare to answer the phone?"

He was stunned for a moment. "It's my wife."

"Your wife?" Her tone was sour.

"Earlier, Lawrence threatened me that he would tell my wife about Grace's existence. I haven't had the time to tell her about it yet, so I just sent her a message. She's in class."

"Is your wife a teacher?" She asked in surprise.

"Yes." He nodded. "She's a middle school teacher."

She smiled bitterly and said with a little sourness, "You've always respected your teachers. You regret not having studied properly, so you found a woman from a well-educated family. It seems like this is the kind of wife you really want."

He stared at her and smiled. "Weren't you married to a man from a rich and powerful family? But you were dissatisfied and found an even richer one. As a result, he lost his fortune and Lawrence is bankrupt now." "Candace, you and I are two sides of the same coin. Let's not compare ourselves to each other. My wife and I are living a peaceful and happy life now."

"Then why don't you dare pick up?" She asked.

He shook his head and said, "It's not that I don't dare to pick up."

As he spoke, he picked up the phone.

Over the phone came the voice of his wife Quinn, which was slightly hoarse, "Timothy, I've read the message you sent me. I didn't expect you and Candace to have a daughter. Since it's a child that was conceived before we met, I have no reason to be angry or jealous."

"Furthermore, I'm very satisfied and happy that you told me this. You can bring your daughter to our home. I want to get to know that child as well, and I would like the children to meet their sister." Not only did Timothy hear this, but so did Candace. She was shocked.

She couldn't come back to her senses for a long time, so she could only watch him answer the phone in a daze.

"Thank you, Quinn." He was moved. He had only respect for his wife. "I'm outside now. We can talk about it later when I get back. I am very busy these two days. I've been constantly dealing with this matter. I will truthfully tell you every single

detail once I'm back."

His voice was very hoarse, and there was a touch of tears in it.

"Okay, do what you have to. Don't worry. I'm at home and the children are all doing well. I will take care of the children, and the elders as well. You can rest assured." Quinn's voice was very calm and gentle. "You can handle things with your heart at ease. I'll wait for you to introduce your daughter and explain everything in detail. I don't know if she will like me. We don't have a daughter. Having a daughter like this all of a sudden is pretty good too."

"Thank you, Quinn. She'll like you." Timothy was even more touched. His heart was filled with gratitude for his wife. "I can rest assured with you at home. I believe my daughter will like you."

That was because his wife was so reasonable, gentle, and kind.

"That's good."

Soon after, when Timothy hung up the phone, he was still in a state of excitement, but was interrupted by Candace's sneer.

"Hmph, what a fake woman!" She said in a sharp tone. "Two-faced!"

He suddenly frowned and stared at her. "You're jealous of her benevolence. You're not as kind as she is. How do you know that she's not being sincere?"

"Hmph!" She said. "In this world, no woman is willing to be a stepmother. Even if she loves the man, she would not be willing to be a stepmother."

"Grace is all grown up. She doesn't need my wife to raise her," he said.

"That won't work either. Don't you think your wife's benevolence is fake? It's people like this in the world who seem nice, but are actually incredibly despicable. Their souls are evil to the bone, because they hide everything in their seemingly kind bodies. However, their hearts are actually very dark."

"Do you think everyone is like you?"

"Timothy, she might not be like me. I'm not belittling your wife; I'm telling the truth. She's pretending just to get on your good side. Doesn't it sound fake that she wants to meet a child that she has no blood relations to?"

"You seem to have forgotten that I've been a stepmother before. When I married Anderson, his daughter was several years old. I tried my best to please her, but what did I get? Nothing. I understand that kind of mentality. I wanted to slap her, but I endured it. A stepmother and her stepdaughter can never get along."

"Don't let my daughter see your wife. She has grown up and doesn't need to flatter her stepmother anymore," she said coldly. "You can go now. I don't want to see you anymore."

Timothy was very indifferent. Looking at Candace, he frowned and said, "It's her choice whether she wants to see my wife or not. If she wants to, I will ask for her opinion and let them meet. If she doesn't, I won't force her."

"Don't let Grace meet your wife," she said coldly again. "Timothy, I'm saying it now. I'm telling you, if your wife sees my daughter, she will try everything she can to harm her."

"I don't believe that benevolent women exist in this world. So-called kindness is just relative. People are only nice to the people they care about. They can't be honest and kind to the people who affect their lives."

"Especially your wife. She is very jealous of the seven years I spent with you. She must be very angry. You can secretly observe her. If I'm wrong, I'll apologize to you in the afterlife. If I'm right, you can pay your respects to me after I die. It'll be an apology from you to me."

"My wife is not the kind of person you are talking about." Timothy still didn't believe her.

She smiled coldly and looked at the man in front of her as if she was looking at a fool. "You're so sad!"

"Alright, I'm sad," he said, nodding and getting up. "I'm leaving!"

"Are you really going to leave?" She was suddenly taken aback. She was a bit reluctant to let him go, but didn't say anything. She was the one who had just driven him away.

He could see that she really didn't want him to go.

"Lawrence will definitely come. He has put in his best efforts to meet you. I want you two to meet for the last time."

"No!"

"It's not up to me. Even if you don't want to see him, Heinz and Grace will disagree."

"I won't see him even if that's the case."

"I'm afraid it's not up to you," Heinz's voice came from the door.

He appeared at the doorway and looked at Candace calmly. "It seems that the Henry situation doesn't really have to do with you. You put all the responsibility on yourself. Are you afraid that I will hate my father if I replace out that he had planned everything? Are you trying to help my father get money?"
