True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 935
Lawrence was beaten to the ground. His entire body was covered in blood. He was even more embarrassed as he looked like a bloodied man.
Timothy still could not control his emotions. He regretted that he did not intervene sooner.
He never thought that things would turn out that way.
Grace tried to stop him, but he still couldn't control himself.
"Mr. Yarbrough, we can't destroy the scene anymore. If we continue to destroy it, I'm afraid we won't be able to gather any evidence." Lester had no choice but to stop him.
Timothy was stunned. He tried to compose himself. He restrained himself and looked at Lawrence who was lying on the ground. His eyes were flickering, and there was an obscured, complicated feeling in them.
Lawrence did not say a word. He did not say a single word at all.
"Come on, say something." Timothy did not punch him. Instead, he stared at Lawrence and demanded, "Why did you kill her?"
Lawrence remained silent. He could not be bothered with Timothy, let alone answering for what he had done. He got to his feet and walked out of the door.
Alex followed him closely and blocked his way.
"You are not allowed to leave. The police are on their way."
Lawrence glanced at Alex and sat down on the stairs outside without saying a word. It was clear that he was not afraid.
Alex calmed down a little and stood beside him. He was looking out for the police, and at the same time, he did not want Lawrence to escape.
Lawrence reached out and touched his pocket.
Alex suddenly became nervous. His eyes were fixed on Lawrence.
Lawrence was stunned. He pursed his lips and took out a packet of cigarettes as well as a lighter from his pocket.
He just wanted to smoke.
Alex also let out a sigh of relief.
Lawrence's hands were trembling as he held the lighter. Unexpectedly, he couldn't light his cigarette.
When Alex saw him in this state, he took out his own lighter from his pocket and helped him light his cigarette.
Lawrence took a deep breath and then looked at Alex. He pursed his lips into a slight smile.
However, Alex was shocked when he saw Lawrence's smile.
He felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He then looked at Lawrence and said, "Sir, you should not have done that."
Lawrence did not say a word. It seemed that everyone suspected that he was the one who murdered Candace.
He did have the intention to kill her, but he did not expect Candace to slit her own throat.
He was caught off guard.
"Candace's days were numbered. It was not worth it to kill her in a fit of anger. You gave up your own freedom."
Alex felt really sorry.
"Look at what happened. You killed President Jones' mother-in-law. What are they going to do now? What is Young Master Lowell going to do?"
These were all right in front of him. Why couldn't Lawrence see this clearly?
Lawrence opened his mouth and tried to speak, but he could not form any words.
He could not make a sound. He remained rooted to the spot and could not react.
Inside the house.
Grace could smell a strong stench of blood that filled the entire room. It was the blood that belonged to her mother. The smell was extremely suffocating.
Heinz had to suppress his emotions. He did not know what to say.
After all, his father had murdered his mother-in-law. Not only that, he was also partially to blame.
Grace did not say a single word as she sat on the stool in a daze while she waited for the police to arrive.
Timothy had managed to compose himself. He then looked at the blood on the ground and then at Candace. She lay there on the bed, motionless and lifeless. It seemed that she was really dead. He looked out of the door and at Lawrence who was sitting on the steps. However, he could not leave the room.
About 20 minutes later.
Jensen and a team of police officers arrived at the scene. Medical examiners came into the house to verify the evidence.
When Jensen saw Candace's body, his heart
skipped a beat.
"Wh-what the hell happened?"
"Lawrence murdered Candace," Timothy said when Heinz did not say anything. He said truthfully, "I kept hearing him say that he wanted to kill Candace. I thought he said it out of spite and he sounded as if she had deceived his feelings. However, when I tried to listen carefully, there was suddenly no movement. Later, I heard Lawrence shouting. We quickly broke into the room and realized that Candace was already dead. Blood was gushing out of her neck. He had slit her throat. Lawrence had a knife in his hand. It was right there. We were afraid that he would go crazy and start hurting people, so we took it away." Jensen and the rest of the police heard what Timothy said. They looked dignified. Then, they turned to look at the rest of the people in the room and said, "Everyone, please leave the room. We have to verify and collect evidence."
Heinz reached out to support Grace as they walked out of the room together.
Only the police and medical examiners were left in the room.
Jensen stayed in the room for a little while longer. He put on some rubber gloves and examined
Candace's body. Then, he examined the entire room.
The room was already cordoned off by the security team, and no outsiders were allowed to enter as they pleased.
As for Lawrence's knife, it remained on the ground, in the corner of the room. It was glittering like frost and snow.
Jensen went over and knelt on the ground as he examined it. He asked the coroner to pick up the knife and put it in a special bag. He got up and walked to the bedside to examine Candace's wound.
The slit on her neck was very precise. It seemed like it was slit with a scalpel. The flesh was wide open, and the blood vessels inside were exposed. The blood on the flesh was black and sticky, which was a horrible sight.
Jensen frowned and looked around Candace. Suddenly, he noticed that Candace had a hairpin in her hand.
Jensen opened her hand and picked up the hairpin. He saw a thin blade inlaid on the hairpin. It seemed that this hairpin was specially designed to fit a blade in it.
There were traces of blood on the thin blade.
As soon as Jensen saw the blood, he immediately understood something.
He cried out to the forensic doctor. "I want you to keep this as evidence as well. I'm confident that she had been slit by this blade. I want you to go back and run a test of the blood on this blade. In addition, I want you to do a post-mortem examination on the body to determine if she committed suicide or was murdered. Judging by the wound, I have a feeling that it was the former."
The forensic doctor came over and examined Candace's body. "Yes, judging by the looks of the wound, it seems like it had been self-inflicted. If she was murdered, the wound would most likely be much deepe than this. This wound seems very precise."
"However, we must not exclude any possibilities. Regardless of whether she was slit from the back or not, we will have to make sure that we conduct a proper examination," Jensen said.
"Yes, Sir!"
Soon, he exited the room.
Outside, Lawrence had finished smoking two cigarettes. He remained seated on the ground. Two policemen stood by him and waited to escort him back to the police station. Lawrence did not say a word.
As soon as Jensen came out, his subordinate immediately said, "Chief, well be escorting Lawrence back to the police station."
"Yes, you have to take him back to the station." Jensen looked at Lawrence and said respectfully. "However, he might not necessarily be the murderer."
Everyone stared at Jensen in shock as soon as they heard him.
Lawrence was even more stunned. He looked at Jensen and frowned slightly.
