True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 972
Miranda was startled by his question.
She subconsciously stared at Diego and found that his attitude was cold, and his gaze was icy, like the glacier of the North Pole.
Miranda's heart once again jolted. She replied in a low voice, "I think today's meal should be on us. Mr. Carter is your boss after all, and you respect him very much. We shouldn't let them pay, that's why I wanted to go and have a look."
Diego narrowed his eyes and stared at Miranda. He smiled and that gloomy expression on his face became even more strange. "You're right. Go ahead then."
Miranda immediately left.
As soon as she left, the room became much quieter.
William smiled lightly and looked at Diego. He said, "Diego, don't be nervous. It's not a big deal. Just relax."
"It seems that she doesn't want to confess," Diego said. "She doesn't want to confess in front of you."
"Yes. She is not really a smart person, but she thinks she is. People like her have a common problem. They are very stubborn and like to deceive themselves."
William stared at Diego calmly as he spoke. Miranda was obviously not as provoking as she thought she was. Compared to the various kinds of people whom William had fought against throughout his life, Miranda was nothing but a speck of dust.
She wasn't a threat at all.
Therefore, William was in a completely relaxed state.
Meanwhile, Miranda had immediately looked for Heinz as soon as she exited the room.
Heinz deliberately walked very slowly. He found a waiter and ordered a few dishes.
When he came back, Miranda happened to block his path in the corridor.
Heinz merely glanced at her.
"Heinz." Miranda looked at him and said, "You didn't tell Diego about me, did you?"
"What difference does it make? Anyway, you don't actually care. You look unbothered, and you're not scared of anything. Why did you come out to look for me?" Heinz asked back nonchalantly. "I'm asking you a question. Can you answer me honestly? Don't beat around the bush."
"Am I obligated to answer your question?" Heinz retorted with a sneer.
Miranda took a deep breath at his response. She was about to lose her temper.
"Answer me," she growled.
"What are you doing?" Heinz asked in an equally somber tone, "Do you think I'm afraid of you?"
Only then Miranda realized that she could not confront Heinz head-on. She pursed her lips and composed herself before speaking, "We can talk about that again later."
"What do you mean?" Heinz narrowed his eyes and questioned coldly, "Say what you want now. What do you want to talk about?"
"It's about Marry." Miranda replied, "We'll talk about it later. I'm warning you, don't you dare tell Diego about our meeting."
Heinz thought for a moment and responded, "Okay, I won't say anything from now on."
"Do you really mean that?" Miranda asked with uncertainty.
"If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do about it. I won't force you," Heinz shrugged and said. "Just like how you can't force me not to tell Mr. Quell." "Heinz." Miranda gritted her teeth and seethed, "I'm serious. As for Marry, I'll let nature take its course."
Heinz smiled and said, "Do you think you have the right to negotiate? You look terrified. I am not afraid of anything, and you don't have the right to negotiate with me."
"Heinz!" Miranda couldn't vent her anger. She felt like a mouthful of blood was stuck in her throat, suffocating her.
Heinz glanced at her and continued, "Behave yourself and lower your head like how you did just now. Be respectful and don't be arrogant with me. Otherwise, there will be consequences."
Although Miranda was very reluctant, she had to step down and listen to him. She knew that she was trapped. If she couldn't do as Heinz said, it would be over for her.
She took a deep breath and replied, "I am a mother, and you have also become a father. I believe you can understand me. I'm just doing what's best for my daughter."
"Madam Scott, there are a lot of things a mother could do. You could have discussed with Xavier instead of letting him kidnap Alice. You were wrong from the beginning. The reason why Marry is in this situation is that she wasn't raised well."
Miranda did not say anything.
Heinz spared her one last glance and then walked toward the room.
"Mr. Jones," Miranda called him again.
Heinz halted and turned to look at her, waiting for her to speak.
"Can... Can you spare Marry?" Miranda asked again, "I really don't want her to go to jail."
"That is out of my control," Heinz answered while shaking his head. "It's useless for you to beg me. Compared to the hardships that Grace has endured, Marry barely suffered. She's the one who brought this upon herself."
"I..." Miranda wanted to say something, but she couldn't go on when the words were on the tip of her tongue.
Heinz didn't wait for her to finish. He turned around and entered the private room.
In the private room.
Diego stared at Heinz when he stepped into the room.
Heinz shook his head at him as an indication.
Diego then saw Miranda followed behind Heinz and entered as well. She first looked at Diego, and then at William. Diego's gaze looked calm and a little cold.
After that, they ate their meal in silence and no one said anything.
Miranda assumed that Heinz hadn't told Diego anything, so she was relaxed and kept a smile on her face.
Soon after their meal, William and Heinz both left.
After getting into the car, Heinz asked, "Grandpa, do you think Mr. Quell will confront Miranda?"
"Of course." William said with certainty, "Diego cares about his reputation very much. The foundation that he has worked so hard to build over the years will not be ruined by a woman. He will never let Miranda go so easily."
Heinz heaved a sigh of relief. "That's good to know."
On the other hand, Miranda followed Diego back to the manor. After entering the room, Miranda looked at him with concern and asked, "How are you feeling now? Are you tired? Let me draw you a bath. You can rest for a while."
Diego unbuttoned his coat and threw it aside. He walked to the sofa and sat down, leaning back. Then, he spoke, "Don't you have anything to say to me?"
Miranda was taken aback, and her heart skipped a beat. She asked nervously, "What do you mean?"
