True Love
(Book 3) – Chapter 107

The brunette’s heart fluttered at the sight of Jean’s hand outstretched towards her, it was the moment to close the deal… the detail was, would she really do it? She turned her gaze towards that pair of blue eyes that shone anxiously and expectantly.

With fear and nervousness Zoé made the craziest decision of her life?

-It’s a deal. She holds out her hand.

He smiles with mischief in his eyes, in the middle of the handshake Jean pulls Zoé towards him. The collision of the two allows the blond to k**s her on the lips as he wraps her in his arms. But that k**s didn’t last long, as she was pulling away within seconds.

-What do you think you’re doing?

-So we’ll seal our pacts from now on. He smiles at her.

-You idiot!

-Very well, now that we’ve settled everything. Of course you know you won’t be going to work anymore.

-That’s fine with me, but what about Maya?

-She can live here, she’s your best friend. I won’t kick her out. I’m not a bastard!

-Thanks. -Anything else?

-You have to meet my dad, so he’ll leave me alone… -All right, I hope he’ll believe the

theatre.

-If you do your job well, he doesn’t have to know anything. -If you do your job well, he doesn’t have to know anything. Another thing, we’ll go and buy you some clothes. Whatever you want, you need to be better dressed.

-Whatever you want.

-We’re going out today, so get ready. -We’re going out today.

-When is the wedding? -When?

-A month from now… I’m sure my father will be pleased with the news. He laughs as if thinking of something.

[…]

-You what?!

-Shh… be quiet Maya, don’t shout, those two are out there.

-Zoé, but what you told me isn’t something like, oh yes, I’m going to buy a new house! She replies ironically. -You’re marrying that millionaire just for looks, it’ll all be a sham.

-Yeah, but at least I’ll get out of that damn strip bar and I won’t have to work. Or well, we won’t. The brunette smiles at him.

-What are you talking about?

-You’ll live with me, I won’t leave you alone. And you’re not going back to that bar either.

-What are we going to live on? How long is this marriage going to last?

-That I don’t know, but while it lasts we’ll do whatever it takes to raise money. -When it’s our turn to go away from home, we’ll go home. The day it’s our turn to leave this place we’ll have a way to do it without depending on an uncle.

-That guy must be planning something, did you tell him you’re a virgin?

-No! You think I’m an idiot… he doesn’t know anything, besides we’re not going to be intimate. It will be included in the contract.

-Girlfriend, you’re really punishing that guy. The brunette denies. -You don’t do that to a man.

-Well, he’s not gonna get anything from me. Let him do it to other girls.

-Are you going to let him f**k other girls?

-Yes. -She told him, putting on a dress. -He has to let off steam with someone.

Her friend laughs out loud when she hears her talking nonsense, it was very hard for Maya to believe that her friend wouldn’t give in to the seductive commands of this Frenchman. It was more than impossible for a woman to be indifferent to him. And she didn’t think she was going to let that stallion sleep with someone else.

-Whatever you say, but you can’t fool me.

-Don’t say anything, go change. I won’t be able to go shopping alone with that man.

-I remind you that that man will be your husband in a month.

Zoé looked at her reflection in the huge wardrobe mirror. She was going to marry Jean, without loving him, nor hers… she always thought she would replace true love someday, a good man who would fall in love with her.

But she got what she got… Prince Charmings didn’t exist. And if they did exist, she was too late for the delivery.

Jean and Adrien, took the girls to a beautiful elegant place where Zoé would change all her clothes. The friends when they entered the place seemed not to want to take two more steps.

-What’s up girls? Adrien says to them.

-Are we going shopping here?

-It’s the best shop in France.

-I don’t think so,” says Zoé.

-We’ll shop here. Go and choose clothes. Whatever you choose will be fine, they sell the best of the best here.

-But… -She turns to look at him.

-You’ll be my wife, you’ll wear the best. He says to her a little arrogantly. She made him angry when she spoke to him in that tone.

-Good! She rolls her eyes, pulling her friend away from the two of them.

Jean just watches her walk away, she was so stubborn… of all the women he could choose from he had to come and be infatuated with her. The most stubborn and difficult in the world.

-She’s going to make it hard for you. Adrien says next to her.

-Too hard.

-There’s still time to back out!

-No, I’ll keep going. I’ll teach the old man a lesson.

-Will you tell him she’s a stripper?

-No. -If he knows, he won’t approve of the marriage.

-What a mess you’re getting into, brother. -Believe me, dad will scream his head off. You’ll end up killing him with rage.

-That old man won’t die. -I know what I’m doing!

The girls were walking through the corridors crowded with girls looking for clothes… they noticed the difference in class. They were both dressed, so to speak, not at all smartly. They felt a little self-conscious

-Pick something quick and let’s get out of here. Maya says to her.

A few hours later, the four of them were leaving the shop, Zoé was already wearing a nice, loose, pleated dress. And her friend wasn’t far behind either, she was also wearing new clothes.

Adrien asked her to choose whatever she liked, he paid for everything. So the brunette without remorse or pity chose a number of garments that even she was surprised.

After shopping, they were taken back to the flat…

-And what are we supposed to do locked up here? Zoé asked Jean, who was changing her jacket.

-Whatever they want. There’s a huge pool downstairs, you can go and sunbathe.

-Swimming pool?

-Yes… What’s the matter? Can’t you swim? he asks a bit jokingly.

-No.

-That can change, I can teach you. In the little jacuzzi I have in the bathroom. Just you and me.

She frowns at Jean’s less than decent suggestion, she thought she’d made it clear that they weren’t going to have s*x.

-I thought I’d made it clear to you that…

-Yes, I know, no s*x… but I remind you that we’re not married yet.

-It’s the same thing, now that we’re married!

Jean Pierre walks towards her with a wicked smile on his lips, she had blushed. She liked that, it meant that sooner or later he would have her in bed.

The Frenchman, when he got a few inches away from her, breathed in her scent… she smelled like roses, she was much more beautiful now than before.

-I’m sure you’ll be looking for something to entertain yourself with. He takes a lock of her loose hair.

Zoé shuddered at Jean’s touch, sometimes he used to be kind and other times he was such a jerk… the boy leaned down leaving a chaste k**s on her lips leaving her a bit confused. After that, he left.

-You bastard! Always looking for a way to take advantage of me! She angrily retorts as she touches her lips.

The Dubois brothers left the building a few minutes later, they could have the girls at home but they had to do their job. As soon as they reached the main office, the brothers enter their father’s office. One that the old man had stopped using.

But one that he still visited frequently… and it was no surprise to the brothers to see Antonie sitting in his armchair, like the don he was.

-All morning, and you have nothing to show for it. Do you think you have no responsibilities? If you want me to put you out of business, all you have to do is ask.

-Always with your threats. You don’t understand that you’re old, and that we’re your only children.

-Ungrateful children who have yet to give me a grandchild. He answers Jean reproachfully.

-Well father, I have news for you. I already have a girlfriend.

Antonie’s expression changed immediately… he stood up walking towards his eldest son. He narrowed his eyes so he could search his soul. Typical of the old man. He was a demon.

-I want to meet her. Demands the old man.

-You will. -Very soon!

-Tonight. He demands again.

-No. -Sentences Jean with a frown.

-Yes. -Take her home, tonight Jean Pierre. And I don’t want to hear any more about it.

His father said as he walked towards the door, at a slow pace. Jean didn’t even bother to turn around to see him off. You always had to do what he wanted. And all because of a damned inheritance that was beginning to annoy him.

-Work! Work! Work! Stop being a bum. Old Dubois said to him before he went out the door.

-It’s unbearable. Jean says aloud, going to the chair behind the desk.

-What are you going to do? Will you take her?

-I will, if he wants to meet her, he’ll meet her.

He was just counting on Zoé to play the role of devoted fiancée very well.
