True Love -
Chapter 14
-Shery, where have you been?
-I’ll explain later, now help me up.
-Yeah sure let’s go. Shit you look like shit!
The climb had been as difficult as the walk from the forest to the house and only with a pair of pink socks. But they barely made it, Eve was very worried, her expression was very obvious. But she remained silent as she removed his wet clothes and covered him with a dry blanket. She gathered up all the wet clothes in the bathroom and found him a clean nightgown.
-Thank you, I was freezing. It took me a long time to get here.
-Where did you come from? -What happened to you?
-A lot of things, Eve.
Her sister sat next to her hugging her to comfort her. She was happy to have her back but not this battered and weak.
-Tell me what happened. Who did all this to you?
-That doesn’t matter now.
-Of course it matters. You never tell me anything, you’ve been missing for two days and you come here in this state. My nerves are on edge and you don’t know the things that have happened here.
-What happened? And what happened to you here? He said, touching his forehead.
-Dad! That’s all he said.
-What happened?
-For covering up for you he hit me, Shery, something bad happened in the other room.
The older girl touched her cheek to try to comfort her, you could tell she had been crying for hours.
-Calm down Eve, tell me what happened.
-No, of course not. Tell me where have you been?
-When I left work I was very late, I took the way to the alley, I know I shouldn’t have been there at night but I did it anyway, I didn’t want to leave you alone for long, then that idiot Derek followed me and tried to… She paused, just remembering that night made her nauseous. -Well, he tried to abuse me, but a boy saved my life and took me I don’t know where, he cured my wounds and took care of me, I don’t know why Eve did it, anyway when I felt better I came back. I’m very sorry.
-No, I’m more sorry for you sister, everything you had to go through was horrible. But that Derek is that of the school? We should report him if it’s him.
-No, nothing like that. If they did Eve could be in more danger.
-But…
-I said no.
-But look how he left you, all bruised and purple.
He touched her forehead and noticed that she had two stitches, but they were bleeding.
-I have to fix that, I have to go out and get the first aid kit.
-I don’t want you to go out.
-I have to. But first I want you to tell me who is that young man? From school?
-I don’t know who he is. Now you tell me, what happened here?
-I don’t really know whether to tell you, but you should know because it’s very delicate. Last night I heard screams in the next room, and this morning when I went out to clean the room it was all full of b***d. Something very bad happened in there, I’m scared.
Damn! I didn’t count on something like that happening in the house, now more than ever they had to get out of there, and with her injured it would be more tedious. Her sister got out of bed.
-I’ll go and get the first aid kit to fix you up.
She didn’t protest, she knew full well she needed to be taken care of in her condition she would only be a burden to get the hell out of that house.
Both wolves watched the house from behind some bushes. Their bright eyes were watching Shery’s room very carefully, as they had seen her climbing the big tree with another young girl. After a long search and in spite of the great storm he had at last found his girl’s house, but there was too much movement inside to break in and get the girl out.
-We can’t do anything else Ethan, I don’t see any way to get her out,” said his friend.
-Yes, I know.
-We should leave and come back later.
-I don’t want to leave her here.
-She’s at home, I don’t think anything will happen to her”.
The rain had worsened and Ethan had no choice but to go home without his partner again. But he would come back for her.
A very luxurious black car pulled up in front of the noisy house, Daren got out of it, stopped in front of the door but before grabbing the door handle he smiled bitterly. Inside the house he was greeted by a somewhat drunken Steven.
-Daren, good of you to come, your men said you had some unfinished business.
-Yeah, something I’ve already taken care of. Where are my women?
-Well, they’re all over the place. He swept his hands around the room.
-I’m talking about your daughters, you idiot.
-I guess they’re upstairs.
-Come on, let’s talk.
I take him up to his room since no one will disturb them there.
-What’s the matter?
-Tomorrow I’ll come for your daughters. -But…
-But… -Well, Eve’s not quite the right age yet, I thought you wanted her to be a bit more mature.
-She’ll be fine with me. -I’ll take them anyway. I’ve waited long enough for them.
-Well as you wish, but what about the house? -Well as you wish.
-Don’t worry, you can go on living here as long as you want.
-All right.
The men sealed the deal with a handshake, while Daren told her that after school he would pick them both up the next day. But what they didn’t know was, they were being listened to by Eve who held the first aid kit tightly to her chest.
They had run out of time in that house. She had to tell her sister immediately. He walked slowly to his room, trying not to rattle the old wood on the floor. He was sweating cold, and already he was replaceing it hard to hold back the tears, the fear so powerful that his legs threatened to give out before he could sit up in bed.
Outside the storm was torrential, as if it would never end, it looked as if lightning was going to strike her house. It was not a good night.
She walked into the bedroom, closing the door slightly, behind her she knew her sister was watching her as she still had her back to her.
-What happened?
She turned around and her pale face indicated that something had happened, as best she could she got out of bed but her sister prevented her from doing so by sitting her back up as she did too.
-You mustn’t force yourself, Sher….
-You will tell me at once what happened.
-Something bad is about to happen. I heard Dad and Daren talking about us and our future.
-For heaven’s sake, Eve, tell me once and for all. -Tomorrow that man will come for us.
-Tomorrow that man will come for us, after school. -Tomorrow that man will come for us, after school. He told Dad that he wasn’t going to wait any longer, that he would take care of us.
-Shit! He got up suddenly causing her to feel dizzy and made her sit down again.
-Calm down, breathe, I have to treat your wounds.
I take out all the necessary things from the first aid kit. The stinging of the antiseptic didn’t hurt at all, with so many problems in her head she was a nervous wreck. After a few minutes she was ready with a new bandage.
-Eve takes out the money that is under the bed. And begins to pack a single suitcase, she keeps the necessary, we don’t need the burden of several bags.
Her sister did as she asked, first looking for the money. But it took her a long time to get under the bed, which she missed very much.
-Oh Shery! This is serious.
-What?
-The money is gone.
-What do you mean it’s gone?
-There’s nothing here, I think they’ve taken it.
The young woman came out from under the bed empty-handed.
-Who could have got in here? asked the older girl.
-Dad is the only one who could have done it.
-But he doesn’t have the key, and if he did, how could he do such a thing? It’s despicable.
-What are we going to do now? We’re stuck here.
She thought for a long time, her head hurt like hell, her stomach was roaring with hunger and her brain was working like crazy trying to replace a solution for the tremendous problem that was coming.
He looked out of the window, it was damp and foggy from the cold and the water. In the distance in the mountains he could see the lightning suddenly strike “mountains” he thought. Yes that was it, and as if by magic a light bulb came on.
“Of course there was the solution, she would go back to the forest with the boy who saved her,” she was sure he could help her escape or at least hide. It was crazy to think something like that, but she was desperate, plus he had saved her life, he couldn’t be a bad person.
She was beyond crazy, but she had no more ideas, she was worried about the idea of putting her sister at risk but if they already were, they were going to be Daren’s slaves and that wouldn’t happen as long as she lived. They would wait until the morning when everyone else was gone before they left for that little cabin.
