True Love
(Book 4) – Chapter 146

She woke up and went into the bathroom to take a shower, she had a long day ahead of her with the wedding.

When she went downstairs, her mother-in-law was waiting for her with a radiant smile and a lot of things in her hands. They looked like invitations.

-I’m glad you’re coming down, several samples for the wedding invitations have already arrived.

-So quickly?

-Of course my child, we must hurry before my grandson arrives.

-Of course! she said with a half smile.

It had been a crazy day, her mother-in-law took her everywhere, decorators, florists, desserts, restaurants. Getting married was exhausting and on top of that it was super stressful being four months pregnant. Antoni called her every three hours to see how she was doing, she supposed he wanted to make up for his mistake. Even if it all belonged to his past, when she wasn’t in his life, it hurt him that he’d gotten tangled up with his secretary.

-You’re a bit distracted this day, is something wrong? Are you feeling ill? asked the worried lady.

-No, everything is fine.

-Are you sure?

-Yes, of course, everything is fine.

-Then let’s go on.

The last visit was with the dressmaker, Antoni’s mother wanted an ostentatious and very big wedding dress. She only wanted a Greek style, loose and fresh. And so she asked for it, she was grateful that the lady didn’t take it badly and accepted her decision. She just wanted to go home and sleep for a whole week.

The big day was approaching, with only two weeks to go until the wedding and the nerves were becoming more and more unbearable. Antoni was behaving wonderfully, every day he took more and more time to be with her. The matter of the secretary was in the past, the subject had not been brought up again. And it wasn’t because she wanted it, simply because she had decided to trust him. But even so, she felt a little insecure about it.

That afternoon was cool and pleasant, she was on the terrace that she had liked so much since she had seen her drinking juice with dried pastries, lately they were her cravings, and everyone was indulging her. With a good book in her hands and the warmth of the afternoon, it was wonderful to be able to enjoy such peace and quiet. The serving girl approached her and she saw her approach.

-Miss, you have visitors.

-Me? Who is it?

-She says her name is Gina.

-I have no idea who she might be.

-She says she knows young Antoni.

-Well, send her in.

She sat up a little to receive the visitor, and who she saw enter surprised her very much. She was a tall brunette, green eyes. Dark brown hair too shiny to be real. The colour of the lipstick she wore was extremely red, her make-up was subdued, it was perfect in contrast to her lipstick. She had long legs, she wore a loose summer dress from the waist down. She had no jewellery, she only wore a very pretty choker with hearts. Who was that woman?

-Hi Andromeda, it’s nice to meet you.

-Excuse me, who are you?

I’m your fiancé’s ex-secretary.

He said ex? But what the hell was that woman doing in his in-laws’ house? Wasn’t she ashamed? What was she doing there?

-And what are you doing here?

-I came to replace out who Toni changed me for, and who I lost my job for. -I’m sorry.

-Excuse me.

-Don’t play stupid, Toni fired me because you asked him to.

-I didn’t see why you were still his secretary after what had happened between you.

-And it was still going on, or do you think that after you arrived it was all over? Now that the wedding is not far away, he threw me out just like that.

-It was already over, don’t try to fool me.

-Then why did he give me this necklace?

He felt an icy current run down his back, his pulse quickening with every word the woman said. She had to be strong and believe her fiancé, not a mourner. She would not let herself be trampled or humiliated by that woman.

-I’d better get out of my house.

-Of course I’ll leave, but I’m telling you this, he was still lying to you when you got here. We were doing it in his office because he couldn’t miss much time so he could get here in time to be with you.

-Get out of my house now.

The woman looked her up and down in a contemptuous manner. I guess she was comparing them.

-I can see why he kept sleeping with me, if you’re a slovenly, fat, ugly woman. He said with a laugh.

-GET OUT! I shouted at him. Suddenly Aneth the service girl rushed in when she heard her scream. -Aneth, get this woman out of here.

-Yes my lady. Please come with me.

-I can go out on my own, I know the place like the back of my hand.

That hurt her even more, had Antoni taken her to his parents’ house? Had they had s*x in the bed where they slept? She didn’t think he was capable of such a thing. She didn’t know what to believe anymore. She was devastated again to believe that she had been tricked again. But this time she would not run away again.

She had to trust her fiancé, or else what was the point of marrying him. The best thing to do was to wait for his side of the story and not judge by what that crazy woman had told her. But jealousy was taking its toll on her patience. Soon she heard Antoni’s footsteps on the stairs, it was time to confront him. He entered the room with a radiant smile and a box of chocolates in his hand, damn they were his favorite.

-I brought you something nice, love. He shook the box in her face. She couldn’t stop herself from biting her lips.

-Thank you, they’re the ones I like.

-And my k**s? He asked quizzically.

-We need to talk.

-What happened? I ask worried.

-Today I received a not very nice visitor.

-Who? He frowned.

-Your idiot secretary.

He looked at her with his eyebrows furrowed, apparently the idea displeased him as much as it did her. Why was it? Was she hiding something?

Ex-secretary, love. Me well, I moved her to another office. She’s a long way from mine now.

-You didn’t fire her?

-I couldn’t. -I couldn’t. I’m sorry, love. – What did that woman come here for?

-To annoy me. And tell me a lot of things.

-What things? -That you were still lovers when I was here.

-That you were still lovers when I was already here.

-That’s not true, I hadn’t been seeing her for a long time. When I came to get you, I hadn’t seen her intimately for a few weeks, I swear, love.

-I want to believe in you, I need to, Antoni. But she told me so many things, until you gave her a very fine piece of jewellery, I saw it.

-For heaven’s sake, that woman is crazy. He ran his hands through his hair. -I never gave her anything, love.

-But then…?

-Believe me, I’ve had nothing to do with her for a long time.

That bitch only wants to destroy my happiness with Antoni, she only came to give me headaches, how I detest her. I feel like she’ll be a stone in my shoe after this. Because it’s more than clear that she’s declaring war on me.

-I hope you tell me the truth, because if I replace out you’re lying to me, forget about all this Antoni.

-I swear on my baby that I’m telling you the truth, love.

She sighed and gave him a tender k**s on the lips, if she swore by her son then she could put a vote of confidence in him. She just hoped she was making the right decision.
