True Love -
Chapter 16
-Very well, it is decided, tomorrow we leave before dawn for my domain. Marcus Dallas’ voice was loud and husky in the meeting hall of the White Wolves’ territory.
-It’s a bit of a forced journey considering that most of the travellers are pups and women Mr. Dallas, have you thought about that? Because I have, they are my people and I care about them. Said a small girl with incredible blue eyes and silver hair.
-Of course I have thought about them, that’s why we will go in human form. In order not to force anyone, some of them will be transformed for our protection.
-I warn you that we will have a hard time integrating into your pack, Mr. Dallas. He said with impetus.
-Princess Deysi, you must address us as your alpha, you have already signed the agreement. Marcus’ Beta told her.
-It is not necessary Seus calm. In the end she is a Queen.
-And I will be the best for my people, but unfortunately I am surrounded by male chauvinists who won’t let me reign yet. She said with disdain.
-And I don’t doubt it, but it’s not the time yet. But I would appreciate it if you could talk to your people about integration, I need them to try to get along with everyone.
-We were not raised to get along with the others, it will be difficult enough for us, you must understand. It is against our principles.
Marcus and Seus looked at the young woman with a bit of suspicion, they had heard that white wolves were difficult to deal with because of their character to denigrate others who were not of the same lineage, they were racist.
But they never imagined that dealing with one of them for more than an hour would be so cumbersome. He rubbed the bridge of his nose at the sight of the young cub looking at him as if he were on the ground and she was on a pedestal. Her gaze was defiant for a mere fifteen year old, no doubt she would make a great leader, a good alpha queen.
She wouldn’t be intimidated by anyone, even though she had accepted him as her leader, she didn’t bother to call him as such. It would be a great fight to have all those wolves on her lands.
-I ask you, then, to give it a try.
The alpha rose from his chair without another word. He was the leader, they had to do as he commanded whether he liked it or not. Seus, his Beta followed him everywhere. While Deysi stayed in the chair belonging to her late father watching them leave without letting her guard down she would not be intimidated by this great man.
She gently stroked the armrest of the throne, her heart crumpled at the memory of him sitting there giving her his advice. He was an honest and just man, he was very old and unfortunately he was ill and to make matters worse he never had any sons. She would take her place as Queen of the pack by becoming a she-wolf, following her father’s legacy but with him by her side as her mentor until she was ready to go it alone.
Everything was ready for her to be proclaimed Queen, only her transformation had yet to happen, she was anxious to meet her she-wolf. But none of that would happen for now, with her father dead no one wanted to have her as alpha, without being a she-wolf she couldn’t take the position.
They had killed every single one of the older, stronger wolves, leaving only the pups and females. They were starving, there weren’t many strong enough to go out hunting without the few that were left being attacked by surprise by a pack of wild wolves.
His only option, and for the sake of the remaining ones, was to join Marcus’ pack. She felt she was betraying her people and all because she was weak, but it would not be like this forever. As soon as she could become a she-wolf she would increase her power and strength, gather her people back together again and lead them back home.
She would avenge her dead, she would wield her hands until they grew whiter, she would avenge her dead. Those damned wild wolves would pay dearly, he would kill as many as possible. And if he had the chance to replace their leader, he would tear out his heart with his teeth.
She would train hard every day, now more than ever to become more powerful, no one, absolutely no one would ever judge her for being weak again. And once a she-wolf she would become a Queen.
-I promise!
It was too early in the morning for a pair of young women to be walking alone in the streets of Seattle, but they had no choice. The cold was embracing, even though they were dressed warmly, the icy air was seeping through their clothes. Only a small suitcase in their hands, in which almost nothing would fit, but it was necessary not to carry so much weight.
The walk to the mountain was a long one, considering that one of the two girls was badly injured. Getting out of their house had been a challenge, there were still a couple of drunks scattered around the living room. They were forced to resort to plan B, escape through the window.
For Shery it was torture, her ribs complained like hell, but in the end they made it. Daren’s car was gone, and it was a great relief for them because that guy seemed to read their every move. He was very strange, and it was very scary the way he was. Especially when he gave them those devilish smiles.
-Shery, which way do we have to go? asked his sister as they stood at the foot of the mountain.
-Hmm… I don’t know, I think we should follow that path.
-You’re not sure? What if we get lost? There might be wolves.
-I wasn’t attacked by any when I went all the way, that’s the way we’re going.
-Are you all right? I ask him when I see his pained face.
-Yes, I’ll rest when we get to the cabin.
-But…
-Eve, we must go on before dawn.
His sister nodded without another word. They walked on with clumsy steps among the rocks and branches, their journey was slow, it was almost no time before sunrise. They had to be quick before their father or Daren realised they had escaped.
The mess in the house that morning would not go unnoticed. They walked and walked and walked. The air was getting thick and it was a little hard to breathe. There was a kind of thick mist that covered much of the path, at the end of the path the great rock wall came into view. At last they made it, it took them longer than they expected but there they were.
-How are we going to get through here?
-There used to be a secret way through here, but it’s gone. It’s impossible.
-What are you saying? said his sister, sitting down on a pile of rocks.
-How did it disappear?
Ethan was heading down the stairs to the kitchen, dying for a cup of strong coffee. And that’s what he did, he made one just the way he liked it. He opened the window to breathe in the mountain air as he sipped his coffee.
He had a big day ahead of him. First he would look for his girl, second he had to get her settled in the house and third he had to try to fit her into the pack, including the council and his own father perhaps that would be the hardest task he would have to deal with.
Suddenly a familiar scent choked his entire body, invading every fibre of him. His pupils dilated immediately and Dom was euphoric inside him, it was her… But how had she given off her scent all the way to the house? Unless…
He dropped the cup in the wash and shot off in the direction of the scent that was driving him crazy. His heart was racing, faster than normal. He could smell her b***d too, it scared him, he feared for her. What was she doing in the woods? Why did she come back? He ran and ran… Until he got lost in the forest, he transformed into a wolf, it was much faster and safer to walk like that.
-Calm down, Ethan,” Dom was telling him.
“I can’t.”
“You’ll scare her off if she sees you in this form.”
-“You don’t appear in front of her like that, but if we’re in danger I won’t hesitate to use your powers.”
“I remind you that you’ll be completely naked, you don’t think you’ll scare her away like that.
Damn it, he hadn’t thought of that. He was so anxious to see her that he couldn’t think what would happen after she was no longer in wolf form. He kept running until he reached the wall, her scent was getting stronger and stronger, she was definitely on the other side.
-Shery, how do we get across?
-I just don’t understand what happened, I swear there was an entrance here.
-Maybe you hallucinated it, it was raining, you were cold and scared. Plus you were alone and hurt.
-I know what I saw, I crossed here, damn it.
-Okay, calm down, we’ll replace a solution.
The sun was already peeking behind her, but not strongly. Many grey clouds refused to disappear to make way for the hot sunlight to warm their cold bodies. Shery kept looking for the entrance but to no avail, she could replace nothing. It was a large smooth rock that was impossible to climb. Turning back was not an option for them.
