True Love
Chapter 22

It wasn’t long after the boy had left when she started with her suspicious looks and silly giggles, she was silent, she wasn’t going to give him anything to talk about. I knew her, she could be very intense. But to no avail, as she attempted to prepare a decent breakfast Eve bombarded her with questions.

-So what, you’ve got something going on, have you? she said, raising her eyebrows.

-What are you talking about? The brown-haired girl said seriously.

-Don’t do that, I saw the look he gave before he left. I assure you that if he hadn’t been here I would have eaten you alive, sis.

-You’re hallucinating.

-Oh, no! -Of course not. I didn’t imagine that.

-Seriously. He wants us to stay at his place, he says he can’t protect us here.

-And he’s quite right, you see what happened last night. -I think it would be best. I think it would be the best thing to do.

They both looked at the casserole with the food, they thought the same. For their safety it was better to go deeper into the forest. Away from civilization. Away from their father.

-You’re definitely crazy Ethan, Dad’s due to arrive tonight with the white wolf pack. How could you even think of bringing those girls home today.

-Last night the savages were at the cabin, there were too many of them Megan. They might as well have tried to get in but they didn’t. They just wandered around the place or else. They just wandered around the place sniffing.

-How did they manage to get into our domain?

-I don’t know, but someone must have let them in. It’s the only logic I can think of.

-But who, no one here would do something like that. And why didn’t they attack the girls, don’t you think that’s odd?

-Too weird.

The first thing he did when he left his house was to head for the girls’ hut, by the time he got close he could smell those stinking animals everywhere. He got so scared that he ran out of the place. But everything was intact.

The wolves had surrounded the place, even the roof had been mounted. And to top it off Shery’s scent was all over the entrance and that wasn’t good. Those crazy critters could follow her everywhere just by having her scent, and from what she could smell they had scavenged the place, soaking up her scent. That wasn’t good.

It was no secret to anyone that those damn wolves knew the way to the Blue Moon pack very well. They hadn’t attacked directly, but they had attacked any wolf that wandered unprotected through the forest. His own theories were, that, their leader had no interest in his village or so he believed.

And he hoped with all his being that this was so. He did not fear, for his people were the strongest of all the territories around him. The most warlike and powerful lived in Blue Moon, an attack of those wolves in magnitude would unleash a great battle.

-I have decided to bring them no matter what.

-Fine, but dad will be very angry.

At that they were interrupted by JB coming in the back door of the house, looking like he hadn’t slept at all. He stung his eyes as he yawned.

-Good morning, is there coffee in this house?

-You’ve got some nerve. Megan said annoyed.

-Why are you always so grumpy? He stressed to her.

-You come here if it’s not to eat, it’s to drink coffee. You think it’s a restaurant?

-My mum hasn’t done anything. She shrugs her shoulders.

-If there’s coffee, help yourself. His friend says with a chuckle. -And leave him alone, Megan.

-You’re always defending him.

-What are you talking about?

-Your friend wants to bring the humans home today.

JB looks at him as he takes a sip of coffee, smoke covers his eyes for a moment and then he lowers the cup to get a better look at him. He shakes his head.

-You know I’ll support you, but you should know you’ll be in a lot of trouble.

-Yes, I know that. But I’ll take my chances.

-All right. -When are we going to get them?

-This afternoon.

Daren was in his office reviewing some important documents when he was interrupted by that jerk Steven together with his men. They looked exhausted.

-What’s going on? He says in all annoyance.

-We can’t replace them. The idiot replies.

-I know that, I only need to look at your stupid face to see that you failed.

-It’s very difficult, we went to all the places they frequented. And at school, no one had seen them for days.

He sighs deeply as he leans his head back in his comfortable black leather armchair. Without taking his eyes off Steven who was shaking like a jelly. He didn’t understand why he still hadn’t finished with his pathetic life. His presence bothered her, it always had. But since he knew he was taking care of two pretty young girls, he couldn’t kill him. And he knew he was still alive only because of those two women.

-And what do you plan to do about it Steven?

-Keep looking.

-No! -No more. What you’ll do is this. You’ll go home and stay there, I’m sure one of them will have to come back. If they do go, I want you to be there and hold them at all costs, do you understand?

-Y-Yes, I understand. Said the man nervously and stammering.

-Now get out of here, you’re annoying me.

The men shoved him out of the office, while he ran his hands over his face. He was frustrated, but his anxiety would soon subside. He clasped his hands as he laughed.

-Soon I will see you again, my sweet and naughty Shery. He sighed as he remembered her.

The girls were organizing the small cabin, putting things away because they had made the decision to go to Ethan’s house, just waiting for him. He never told them what time he would pick them up, but they hoped it would be soon, as they were looking forward to a nice shower.

The cleanliness in that cabin was not the best. Shery was putting away her clothes when her whole body suddenly bristled as she stopped doing her homework. She stood very still as she felt that strange sensation in her whole being. Was it the cold? She didn’t think so, rather what she felt was something inside her gut and it was something bad. She looked at her sister who was watching her in confusion.

-Is something wrong? Are you feeling sick?

-No! I’m fine, I just got the chills.

-You must have a fever. He touched her forehead, but she shook her head. -You don’t, it must be the cold.

-Yes, maybe that’s what it is. But I felt it wasn’t that. -We must hurry.

-Yes, what will your boyfriend’s house be like?

-Come on Eve, stop saying that, the boy will end up believing it. -Come on Eve, stop saying that, the boy will end up believing it.

-Sis, he already believes it. she says laughing.

Shery blushes as she remembers that wonderful k**s, she still feels the soft touch of his lips on hers. She still couldn’t understand how he could give her so much warmth through a k**s, her whole body had warmed up in seconds after the k**s.

She still felt the sensation inside her screaming for him to do it again. His heart pounded, and he touched his chest, what was happening to him? He was frantic, in his hand he could feel it pounding, it had never pounded like this in his life. He shook his head.

Marcus and his Beta walked slowly through the dense forest, long since they had arrived. But one problem after another arose, they were exhausted, children crying, making their position easy. Pregnant women with problems, everything was chaos. He was trying to keep his patience intact, but it was costing him a lot already.

“What’s wrong Marcus?” I ask him through his mind.

“I’m stressed, we would have been here long ago.”

“These people can’t go any faster, we must be patient.”

-Yes I know.

He wasn’t known for being a grumpy, bossy Alpha, or for being able to lose his temper so easily. But he had a lot of work to do in his pack. To keep delaying was a waste of time, when all these people arrived they would have to locate them and that meant a lot of work, construction, giving up land, avoiding arguments.

He hoped his son was at least getting some work done, he had been absent in his thoughts lately. The familiar scent of the albino girl reached him, he knew she was behind him.

-Mr. Dallas, how much longer? The girl couldn’t have expressed herself in a more sarcastic and contemptuous tone because she didn’t have a huskier voice.

-We’ve still got a couple more hours.

-We’re all exhausted.

-If they’d let us carry them on our backs, they’d all be resting by now, Deysi.

-We would never allow ourselves to be a burden to you any more than we are. Pride was bigger than that girl thought.

-Well then, you’ll just have to make do.

-If necessary, we’ll make another stop. He stressed in a commanding tone, that girl was definitely no good for his son. Ethan couldn’t stand her.

-We’ll see!

It was getting cold, he could see snow in the distance in the mountains. It smelled like ice, a storm was coming, and these people surely wouldn’t make it. They had to hurry or it would take another day to get there and that was not in their plans.

In the afternoon after Ethan had arranged for many workers to put up small houses according to the list of people who would be arriving, so that at least they would be ready in time. They found a plot of land very well located, they were not in conflict with anyone so it was perfect for the work. After that, he went to the cabin in search of his girl, he was nervous to have her home. Every time he was near her his whole body vibrated.
