He felt his little sister’s warm arms around his waist, she was his only support, the only one he could call family. But his heart was asking for so much more.

-Everything will be all right, remember that soon we will leave here.

She believed so, but at the same time she was afraid because what if her father was looking for them? He would beat them so badly that he would be able to kill them.

-Let’s clean up all this mess, the shower will have to wait. Shery finally replied.

The girls got down to work, still wet, cold and starving. But if they didn’t do it their father would turn into an ogre and he was furious enough, when he locked himself in his room it was for one thing only and it wasn’t healthy at all what he was doing there.

The only room in the house that was forbidden to clean and enter was his, it must be disgusting, Shery thought. Finally, after about two hours of cleaning, exhausted, they picked up their backpacks, when they were about to go upstairs the doorbell rang, they both looked at each other’s faces because they already knew who they were.

They waited for a moment to see if their father would come out to receive his guests but nothing, the Loon sisters hated when it was their turn to have to open the door, since the guys who used to arrive were tremendously disgusting, perverted and very crafty wanting to touch them.

-Open that damn door, they’re deaf.

-I’ll go. Don’t worry Eve, you go up to the room.

-I’m not going to leave you alone.

Her sister rolled her eyes, Eve was very stubborn. She went downstairs and opened the door, a gaggle of large men, and some young and very few older ones entered the house with a lecherous smile directed at the two of them.

-My daddy will be down in a moment. That was all he said as he walked away from the crowd.

-Wait little one, why don’t you join us tonight. You’re not a kid anymore, you’re so hot.

-No thanks, I have to sleep.

-Oh come on! Tomorrow is Saturday, there are no classes. Besides, your father won’t mind if his daughters join the party.

He saw Eve’s eyes widen in fright. She was holding the edge of the stairs very tightly, she would never let them touch her.

-You already have plenty of female company, if you’ll excuse me. But he grabbed her arm.

-I haven’t finished talking. I tell you, they are not valuable to me, but one like you or your sister is.

-We don’t have anything valuable to interest you.

-Don’t try to fool me. I whisper in her ear-I know you’re both virgins, and that to me is a great prize.

Oh, shit! This guy was very cunning and dangerous. Daren was her father’s boss, she didn’t know what kind of jobs they had in common but she suspected it involved drugs, and she didn’t like the way he looked at them.

He was a big, muscular guy, as if he spent twenty-four hours working out, the features of his face were like a model’s but very pronounced, because of the kind of life he led. In his late forties he only looked in his early thirties, he was a well-preserved and impeccable man, his bright green eyes were menacing and intimidating, causing her to shiver.

I don’t know what to talk about, sir, I don’t know what to talk about.

-I don’t know what to talk about sir, I think my dad has made it clear that’s not the case.

-Your father is a complete idiot, but don’t worry, this secret is only for me, as I intend to enjoy it myself.

She released her grip and ran off, grabbing her sister by the hand and dragging her to her room. Things were going from bad to worse, Daren had never been like this before. Once locked in, he sits on the bed to think.

-What the hell happened? What did that guy say to you?

-Eve, we have to get out of here soon, we’re not so sure anymore.

-What are you talking about? They heard them turn on the music at full volume, at least they had more privacy to talk.

-That guy has his eye on us, we must take care of ourselves and not get separated for anything in the world.

-What did Shery tell you?

-He wants to do ugly things to us.

-What kind of things? Her poor sister’s voice trembled.

-Take it easy, I’ll get you out of here before that happens.

-But if we don’t have any money, where will we go?

-We’ll have to go with what we’re afraid of.

Under the bed was a small hiding place Shery had made, perfect for stashing all the money she had collected from her work. She couldn’t take it to school since she was bullied most of the time, she wasn’t going to risk it being stolen, she reached in and pulled out a white envelope, her sister looked at her curiously.

-When did you do that? If Dad replaces out you broke the floor, he’ll be upset.

-I don’t give a damn if he does, you and I won’t be here by then.

She counted the money slowly so as not to make a mistake, and knew it wasn’t enough, maybe to rent a room for a few weeks, but what about food, school? He would have to stop studying and look for a full time job while Eve studied. Maybe her sister wouldn’t accept her dropping out of school but it was all to save their lives.

-We have very little, the only way is for me to stop studying and work full shifts, I would earn more and we wouldn’t have to worry about anything.

-Are you crazy? You can’t stop studying, I won’t allow it.

-Eve, this is life or death, if we stay here we will be raped and no one will help us.

-Raped? She opened her eyes wide, the tears were even thicker than a while ago.

She hated to have to tell them such harsh words, she was just a child, but it was better to prevent her from opposing all their decisions.

-That’s what Daren told me, so I don’t want you to question everything I tell you we’ll do, okay?

She nodded her head, wiping away her tears she was already red as a tomato. She needed him to take a shower so she could rest.

That night Shery watched her sister sleep, she asked her to sleep in her own bed. Unlike her, she couldn’t sleep a wink. The music downstairs was getting more and more annoying and some men came upstairs with women into Eve’s empty bedroom making grotesque noises. Her house had practically become a brothel. What was wrong with her father? Why did he always allow all this?
