True Love -
(Book 2) – Chapter 52
-Rodrigo will be fine, he can handle the situation. I’ll tell him to prepare a notice with your granddaughter’s name on it so they can be identified.
-Hmm… What’s wrong with you? You don’t like my granddaughter’s visit. You don’t like her spending a few days here with us. I accuse him, looking him straight in the face.
-Of course not, your question is absurd! I have a lot of work to do, I’m leaving, I’ll be back later.
-Fine, as you wish! And don’t let Rodrigo run too much when he brings her back.
-Yes, all right. He said leaving the house, then Grisell watched through the window as Jack gave Rodrigo instructions and then Rodrigo got into Jack’s car and sped off down the dirt road that connected to the road to San Antonio.
At least his granddaughter wouldn’t be waiting so long at the airport Rodrigo would arrive in plenty of time.
At the airport the girls’ plane descended, as they went through the respective checks, then went in search of who was going to pick them up. Their grandmother had said that someone would be sent for them, so they had no choice but to look around for a sign that someone was waiting for them.
-Look Megan, that man over there has your name written on that sign. exclaimed her friend.
-That’s right, we’ll have to ask him, maybe it’s someone else.
-Oh wow, you’ve already noticed he’s a handsome cowboy! Apparently they’re not ungainly at all. Her friend laughed.
-Melisa for God’s sake! Megan laughed, suppressing a smile. In spite of everything her friend was right, that cowboy wasn’t bad at all, tall, dark, very muscular, his hair and eyes were not visible because of the hat, but he had a firm chin.
They walked up to the cowboy….
-Hello, is that sign for Megan Blake?
The man blinked for a moment as if he was astonished to see them.
-Yes, I’m waiting for Grisell’s granddaughter.
-Oh, how nice, I’m herself, how do you do? He held out his hand. – This is my friend Melisa.
She had to nudge her friend to make her react to this beautiful man.
-A pleasure, ladies. He touched the brim of his hat in greeting, smiling at them. – Then I’ll take your luggage, just those two suitcases?
-Yes, just these two suitcases.
-All right then, let’s go, we’re half an hour’s drive to the ranch.
-Did you notice his accent? I love the way people talk here! She whispered to her friend.
-Behave yourself. That man’s got you all wrapped around his little finger.
-And who wouldn’t be! She fanned herself with her hand as she watched him carry the two suitcases as if they were weightless.
-Oh, please, Mel!
-You don’t see this kind of man in Atlanta Megan, or do you think I like to see the mailman or the milkman?
-No, but… -Hey, what’s wrong with the milk delivery guy?
-Nothing, just that his wife and three kids don’t make him attractive at all.
-Oh, I didn’t know that! Repressing a smile.
-Well ladies, this is our car. Rodrigo announced, putting his suitcases in the back of the car.
-Are we going in this big car? exclaimed Melisa.
-Yes, the boss gave it to me so I could come and pick you up and make you comfortable.
-I understand, your boss is very considerate. Remind me to thank him, Melisa.
-Of course!
On the way to the ranch Rodrigo told them about the ranch and the acres it had, the cattle and the breeding of the best horses. Both women were fascinated by what was so new.
-Rodrigo, do you think we can go horseback riding one of these days? Melisa asked.
-Of course, Miss. I can take care of that, if you don’t have any problems. He said looking at her in the rearview mirror.
Megan immediately caught that battle of glances and understood that this Rodrigo liked Melisa and she was drooling over that muscular cowboy.
-You should know that we don’t know how to ride. Megan said looking out the window at that wonderful landscape covered in grass and dirt as far as the eye could see, she was beginning to understand why her grandmother was still there.
-That won’t be a problem, we have the best and most docile horses. Teaching them to ride won’t be a problem for me, and I doubt my boss will have a problem either.
-That’s great. I can’t wait to learn.
Said Melissa enjoying every minute of the ride.
-Then you will be our trainer Rodrigo, as long as it doesn’t interfere with your work. We don’t want you to get in the way and have time problems.
-Relax lady, I’m the foreman, I usually have a lot of free time!
-Call me Megan please, and you can call her Melisa.
-Well if that’s what you want then so be it!
She was fed up with Miss this, Miss that. Why couldn’t they just call her by her name like everyone else.
-If it’s all right with us if you call us by our first names.
-Very well, I hope the boss won’t object to that.
-Don’t worry, there won’t be any problems!
-Well, we’re coming to the ranch, you’ll see your grandmother soon.
-Thank God!
-The temperature here is a bit cruel, and it must be even more so for you who come from the city and your skin is more delicate than all of us who are used to the climate here. I recommend that you stay more indoors, it is much cooler.
I understood that he wanted to advise them to be careful about the weather, but why did everyone insist on telling him what to do?
-Thank you for your concern Rodrigo, I assure you we will be fine.
-All right, we’re here!
Jack was in the kitchen with Grisell drinking a lemonade when they heard the noise of their SUV. That meant that Megan had already arrived, he got up from the table to accompany Grisell to the door, who was jumping up and down with excitement. When they opened the door and he looked in the direction of the car, he froze, was that a joke? Rodrigo looked at him and just smiled and touched the brim of his hat. Grisell rushed out to meet the woman who was his granddaughter and who was really beautiful.
He could not believe it, she was no child. She was a full grown woman as beautiful as a rose, short in stature, her skin was as white as snow and her hair was pulled back in a dreadful plait. She wore no jewellery or designer clothes, just a pair of jeans that would get her jailed if they were illegal, along with a pink checked three-quarter shirt and trainers.
This woman was not at all what he expected, she would be in her mid-twenties. He watched as Grisell gave her a very affectionate hug, showering her with k****s, as did his granddaughter. It was very noticeable that both loved each other very much, and if Grisell wanted to leave with her he wouldn’t have the courage to stop her, but what was he doing standing there like an idiot, he looked at Rodrigo and he only looked at him and laughed at him, “idiot for sure he was making fun of him” surely because of what he had told him, that he should be careful because the visitor could be a snob.
He walked down the steps and approached the family gathering, he didn’t feel guilty for thinking that way, he hadn’t dealt with this woman yet, it all depended on the deal.
-Welcome ladies. He looked at Rodrigo out of the corner of his eye and saw that he was suppressing a smile, he would punish him for his mockery.
-Oh Jack, until you finally come over! Meet my granddaughter Megan and her friend Melisa.
Damn! What beautiful eyes that woman had, brown as pure honey.
-How do you do, Mr. Jack?
-Oh no, daughter! Just call him Jack. He’s the owner of the ranch!
Megan’s eyes widened like saucers, so it wasn’t an older man who owned the ranch? Then that had to be her son Jack Manson. She couldn’t deny that the cowboys at that place were good looking, because the owner was no slouch, he was dangerously sexy in fact his eyes had a lot to say and those lips were made to be kissed for a lifetime.
He took off his hat, placed it on his chest and held out his hand to shake it, that hand was firm and felt rough, the hands of a man who worked hard every day. The sun had tanned his face giving him an air of masculinity that would make any woman lose her temper, she looked him up and down as he was extremely tall and muscular.
