True Love
(Book 2) – Chapter 71

− Of course I understand you. She stood up from the chair feeling like she was losing something very valuable.

− Don’t feel offended Megan, I didn’t mean it with that intention. You are a very beautiful woman but…

− Yes I know, I am not from your territory. I’m just a city dweller who wouldn’t be able to adapt to this ranch and this life.

− I only said it because I saw what my parents’ marriage was like, they were both from here and their marriage was exemplary.

I think that a city woman would replace it difficult to adapt to a life like that, having to leave the comforts that she had.

− Of course! I’m snotty and nothing more. Leave it Jack.

− Listen to me, we can…

− Do you know, Jack? I’ll go up to my room and rest for a while, this conversation is over and everything that happened between us let’s pretend it didn’t happen.

− But Megan passed!

− Then we will live with them Jack! She closed the door behind her, wiped away her tears, and went up to her room.

Melisa and Grisell were waiting for her in bed with all the clothes they had bought that day, they laughed at each item of clothing they tried on.

− What is all this, a parade? She told them, laughing.

− It has taken you years to upload Megan. Did you argue with Jack?

− Not only did we talk about some faxes and some emails that came to me, but also that he will be busy in his office for a few days so he couldn’t use it.

− Is that all? Her friend asked her.

− You two are like hiding something!

− No grandmother, we are not hiding anything. I’m exhausted, I would like to lie down for a while.

− Of course we are going to collect everything, friend.

Jack was still sitting at his desk checking his mail and some bills, but despite this he couldn’t stop thinking about everything he had said to Megan. He had classified her as an unfit woman for him, yes, she was from the city but that was no reason to tell her that she did not qualify to be the wife of a Texan, was she an idiot or what? How did she even think of saying something so horrible.

It was so hard to say that he didn’t want a serious relationship. He suspected that after that conversation he would not be able to touch her again, and it was to be expected that no woman would have liked him since she was not the type of woman for a man, perhaps it was for the best, although he was not very sure that he would never k**s her again. those fleshy lips.

A couple of days later Megan was in her room preparing her bags. She couldn’t deceive herself any longer by staying there because not even in another day or month would Jack change his mind about her. She was in love with a man who did not want to get involved with a woman like her, she had to leave before her pregnancy became noticeable or worse, her symptoms gave her away.

− What are you doing Megan? Her friend asked her, very surprised at her.

− The suitcases!

− I notice that, but why? I thought we would stay longer.

− What else do you want to keep, Melisa? We have already abused Jack’s hospitality. So tomorrow we leave.

− Tomorrow! Meg, I…

− I know… sigh. –If you want to stay, do it, I’m sure my grandmother will replace you a job.

− I can’t let you go alone, and does he drink?

− I know you are in love with that cowboy, you shouldn’t leave him alone because I ask you to. I’ll take care of myself.

− I don’t feel good leaving you alone there.

− I’ll be fine, I love you Mel. But it’s time for you to make your life, if you want to stay, stay and be happy.

− What about Jack? He is the father.

− What I’m doing is the best. Promise you won’t tell him.

− Okay. But I think she should know, plus I know she likes Meg.

− He doesn’t want anything serious with me, he told me himself, a baby would only make him stay with me just for him, and that is something he couldn’t stand.

− It’s okay, you know what you’re doing.

− Could you tell Rodrigo to take me to the airport early tomorrow?

− Of course I will talk to him.

How it was possible to feel uncomfortable at home and at dinner time, Jack couldn’t understand and since he had had the conversation a few days ago with Megan, she no longer sat next to him. That made him feel guilty because she would also feel uncomfortable, he missed her like crazy, he was dying to k**s her and make love to her. What could that mean? Maybe he liked Megan more than he should, he was confused and had already completely lost his appetite.

− Jack, do you feel bad? Grisell asked, taking him out of her thoughts.

− Nothing, don’t worry Grisell. I don’t have much of an appetite.

− But it’s your favorite dinner!

− Thank you Grisell. If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to leave first. Everyone at the table looked at him in amazement, except the woman who was responsible for her lack of appetite and her out of character actions.

Megan waited to hear the door to Jack’s office knock to give everyone the news of his departure the next day, to be very discreet. Her grandmother burst into tears, hugging her and asking her to visit her more frequently, how could she give her grandmother so many excuses to avoid visiting her for so many months? If she arrived there pregnant, perhaps she could arouse suspicions, especially from Jack, she could draw up her accounts. .

− I’ll visit you, grandma, don’t worry. I will visit you both!

− So you will leave my little flower. Rodrigo told him with a radiant smile.

− I hope you take good care of her and behave well with her.

− I do it every day. I hope to see you here soon.

− Safe cowboy!

After Jack left the dinner everyone began to relax enjoying the dinner which in the end became a farewell for Megan. After a good dinner Megan was in her bed touching her belly thinking what her baby would be like, if she would look like her father or her.

She hoped that he would be born healthy and strong, suddenly her eyes began to cloud and tears rolled down her cheeks. It hurt to have to leave and separate herself from her grandmother and Jack. Accepting that she was in love with him had been a hard blow for her and more. even after him, he had told him that she was not his type of woman to marry.

Her pregnancy had definitely made her very sensitive, she cried for nothing and she became sad, a light knock on her door startled her. Who could she be? She asked herself, wiping away her tears. She got up and opened the door. Of all the people who lived in that house, the one who least thought she would knock on her door at that hour could be Jack.

− What are you doing here?

− Why are you crying? She told him, wiping the tears from her cheeks.

She reluctantly turned her face away and cleaned herself.

− Nothing that might interest you. Why did you come?

− I wanted to know how you were, at dinner you seemed strange. In fact all these days.

− And what did you expect, that I smile at you every time you cross my path?

− No, but… the truth is I don’t know why I’m here.

− I don’t know either, Jack.

Megan’s vulnerability was not something he could resist, and he approached her and kissed her tenderly. He knew he was wrong, and he might get a slap from her for that but he didn’t care, because he couldn’t stay away from her even if he wanted to. But strangely she did something different: she clung to him like a lifeline, responding to her k****s with the same degree of tenderness as his. He dragged her to the door of her own room, he had to make love to her regardless of the consequences.
