True Luna: The Darkness Within (The White Wolf Series Book 5)
True Luna: The Darkness Within: Chapter 3

Emma’s POV

I was never afraid like I was in the last eight days.

My little girl was missing.

I didn’t know where she was. I didn’t know if she was okay. I didn’t even know who took her. Why did they take her? What did they want?

I was thinking that whoever took her would ask for something. I was thinking that they would contact us and ask us to do something or give them something in exchange for her.

But there was nothing. There was no news and no clues about where my daughter was.

I tried everything I could think of. I tried every locator spell I could think of. I even tried to invent new ones. Nothing worked. Nothing helped. I tried to connect with her through our magic, but I couldn’t feel her. I could always feel her in the past.

I was so scared to know what that meant.

Emma? My brother mind-linked me. Where are you?

Logan’s office. I mumbled through the mind-link.

I was having trouble doing even that. I was exhausted and so scared.

I heard Hunter getting up and leaving the office. My mate approached me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

“We will replace our princess,” he said quietly as he placed a soft kiss on my temple.

I was hoping that Anna’s idea would bring us closer to my daughter. She refused to tell us what her idea was. She wanted us all present when she told us.

The office door opened and I knew it was my brother and his family. Andrew approached me and Logan moved away so Andrew could hug me.

“Oh, Em,” Andrew mumbled as he kissed the top of my head. “We will replace her. I promise.”

Everyone kept telling me that, but we still hadn’t found her. When would we replace her? When would I have my baby back in my arms?

I turned around and wrapped my arms around my brother’s waist. He rubbed my back gently and leaned his head on mine. For a single second, I felt like everything would be okay. I felt like a little girl whose brother would take care of everything.

“What idea do you have, Anna?” Mason asked, his voice cold and raspy.

“I will tell you when Hunter and his family get here,” Anna said, making Mason sigh.

Andrew let me go and cupped my cheeks. He placed a soft kiss on my forehead and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.

I looked at Daisy. I could tell that she was crying. Mason and Mike looked pissed off. Mason adored Sophie. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for her. This was hard for him.

The room was quiet. Every one of us was lost in our own thoughts. I couldn’t even look at my son. His pain made me want to scream and cry. This was hard on all of us, but my son lost his twin. It was heartbreaking to even look at him and the pain on his face.

I leaned more into my brother and he tightened his hold on me.

I heard footsteps approaching the office and my heart sped up.

A few moments later Hunter and his family walked inside.

Nathan looked at me and I saw how sad he was. Janet looked worried. Harry rushed to Mike and pulled him into a hug. They bonded immediately and it was nice to see the growing friendship between them.

“Sit down, please,” Anna said quietly.

Nathan and Janet sat on the couch next to Daisy. Logan was standing behind Alex. His hands were placed on Alex’s shoulders and he kept kissing the top of Alex’s head. Hunter sat down in the chair opposite Alex’s desk. He turned it around so he could see everybody. Mike and Harry were standing next to Andrew and me. I ran my fingers through Mike’s hair and kissed his temple. He looked at me and gave me a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

“As you know I’ve been reaching out to all the witches I know,” Anna said quietly.

She was leaning against the wall with a worried look on her face.

“Did you replace anything?” Hunter asked, his voice laced with pain.

I couldn’t even imagine what he was going through.

Anna looked at him and took a deep breath.

“Maybe,” Anna mumbled, making us all tense up.

My heart raced.

“Where is she?” Alex asked as he stood up abruptly.

Anna looked at him and sighed. “Sit down, Alex. I will tell you everything if you give me a chance.”

I looked at my son and my heart clenched painfully. I needed to hold him. I needed to hold my child.

I moved away from Andrew and approached my son and my mate. Alex sat back down and I stood behind him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his temple. I needed to hold my child.

Alex turned around to look at me. The pain I saw in his eyes made me cry. I felt a tear fall down my cheek.

There was nothing I could say to him. I caressed his cheek and he leaned into my touch.

“One of the witches informed me that there are rumors about dark witches gathering in some sort of a cult,” Anna said, making us look at her. “Apparently they have a leader who is a werewolf.”

I furrowed my eyebrows. Alex cursed loudly.

“A werewolf?” Logan asked, confused. “Who would be crazy enough to conspire with a bunch of dark witches?”

“We’ve combed through every pack there is,” Alex said. “There was no trace of her anywhere. Every Alpha cooperated with us. Who the fuck is working with them?!”

Anna sighed and glanced at Nathan. He was staring in front of himself with a worried look on his face. I could tell that he was trying to figure this out.

Why did Anna look at him?

“Alpha Nathan?” Anna called him, making Nathan look up at her.

I could feel Alex tense up.

“Yes, Anna?” Nathan asked her.

Anna took another deep breath and glanced back at Logan and me. I could tell that she was reluctant to say what she wanted to say.

She looked back at Nathan.

“What happened to your father, Alpha Nathan?” Anna asked. “Do you know where he is?”

My heart stopped beating.

The room was completely silent. I wasn’t even sure if anyone was breathing.
