Chapter 11 The Goddess Clemential

The game was becoming more thrilling by the minute. I gently blew on the traditional medicine to cool it, before taking a tentative sip. The bitterness was so overwhelming that I spat it out immediately.

I was oblivious to when Henry had arrived home.

He watched as I spat out the medicine, a hint of contempt flashing in his eyes. His voice was icy as he said. “If you can’t handle it, don’t drink it.”

“What’s it to you?” I shot back, wiping the corner of my mouth.

His recent behavior had been irking me, so I asked, “Why are you here?”

He casually loosened his tie, a simple yet suave gesture. “This is my home too. Is there a problem with me returning?” Henry retorted, sitting down across from me, his face impassive.

“Right.” I responded, nodding and continuing to drink the medicine.

The medicine was unbearably bitter. Even though I was used to drinking Americano, this was on another level. Unable to handle it, I spat it out before I could swallow.

This time, I spat further away, and some of it splashed onto Henry’s face and shirt.

His face darkened instantly, and he shot me a frosty look.

Unable to speak due to the bitterness, I noticed the droplets clinging to Henry’s eyelashes. I reached for a tissue and pressed it against his face, my final act of courtesy, or so I thought.

Henry brushed my hand away. His disgusted expression took me aback. A familiar bitterness welled up in my heart.

“I’m sorry. This medicine is too bitter,” I stated calmly, tossing the tissue on the floor..

Henry said nothing. He simply stood up and went upstairs to change his clothes.

Amber walked into the room then. She efficiently cleaned up the mess. This woman always worked diligently and meticulously, setting her apart from her peers,

Once Amber had finished cleaning, I instructed her, somewhat wearily, “Mrs. Velma, please prepare my

meal.”

Amber nodded and busied herself in the kitchen.

I needed to nourish it to gain some weightional medicine. My body needed more than just food;

After finishing the medicine, 1 ascended the stairs to the music room, removed the dust cover, took out the cello, and began to play. The deep, rich sound filled the room as I lost myself in the music,

reminiscing about everything I had been through.

Initially, I had already decided to stop playing. But hearing this, a surge of anger welled up within me.

In my previous life, I had put away my beloved instrument because he found it annoying. Now, recalling that, I couldn’t blame Lilly and the others for calling me a fool.

In my anger, I pulled the cello bow randomly a few times, creating a discordant noise.

Henry furrowed his brow in displeasure.

“Then, let’s get a divorce! After we divorce, we can live our own lives. Even if I play the trumpet, it won’t bother you.”

Henry retorted mockingly, “I think we can live separately without getting a divorce.”

“Why did you come back?”

His recent actions had left me puzzled.

I wonder what brought Henry home? It couldn’t possibly be me, could it?

Henry seemed to struggle with my sharp words. His face darkened further. Given his temper, he should have walked away by now. He could easily replace somewhere else to be with a simple phone call.

Clearly, he was suppressing his anger. He asked me, “Ramona, do you not want me to come back? Have you found a lover?”

Did he come home frequently because he suspected I was cheating? And he did it so he could catch me red–handed.

I widened my eyes in disbelief and asked, “Is there a problem? Didn’t you say it’s fine as long as I don’t make it public?”

“How dare you cheat on me?” Henry asked menacingly.

“Men and women are equal. Why can’t I do what you’re doing?” I retorted.

We were

now at a stalemate.

At this point, Amber cautiously interrupted, “Mr. and Mrs. Patterson, dinner is ready.”

I pushed Henry away and went downstairs to eat. I was no longer willing to torment my body because

of this man.

Amber made delicious meals. Every dish she prepared was mouthwatering. I ate two servings of pasta at once. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Henry descending the stairs and leaving the villa.

I savored the last of the soup and complimented Amber with a beaming smile, “Your cooking is wonderful, Mrs. Velma! You’re an exceptional cook. Anyone who marries you or has you as their mother is fortunate.”

Amber looked shy as she said, “Mrs. Patterson, these are just simple home–cooked dishes. You’re too kind.”

“My daughter enjoys my cooking too. She often suggests that I open a restaurant, but she sees things too simply, Amber said, her eyes filled with affection as she spoke about her daughter.

I responded, my smile fading slightly. “There’s nothing wrong with her idea. It’s simple to achieve your goals when luck is on your side.”

In my past life. I yearned to see Henry one last time before I passed away. My mother told me that he came to see me because he was attending the grand opening of Amber’s restaurant. Naturally, Henry was the one who invested in the restaurant. It was grand and ranked among the top three in the city.

We’re simple folks, and we don’t have much luck, Mrs. Patterson,” Amber responded modestly.

“You can’t stop luck when it comes your way, Mrs. Velma. What if your daughter marries well?”

I wanted to tell her she had no reason to feel inferior. The opportunity for her family to rise to the top was less than two weeks away, but I held back.

I left the dining table after Amber gave an embarrassed smile.

I had to admit that Violet’s family had a good heart.

In my previous life, her parents were strongly opposed to her being with Henry at first. She was still in college and already madly in love with a married man. It would be embarrassing if word got out.

Henry’s persistence eventually won her parents over, and they decided to approve of their relationship.

They never realized that while they were beaming with joy, I was going through the most agonizing

Torture.

After taking a shower, I comfortably lay on the bed and browsed through my phone as usual before going to sleep. By chance, I read in the news that Henry, Duncan, and a few attractive women were enjoying themselves in a bar.

Everywhere he went, Henry was a man who drew attention. A man of his status would make headlines. even for eating a simple lasagna on the street.

I also frequently appeared in the comment section as his wife.

“His wife is so understanding that I want to refer to her as the goddess Clementia!”

“Hmm, I’m willing to help with the mistress‘ confinement time if I get this man as my husband.”

“Hey, how could you please a man to this extent? I’m willing to bet that if this repulsive situation happens to you, I doubt you can handle it. So let me put up with it instead!”

“You are all a bunch of morally corrupt people! Henry lacks any manly virtue. This man has had so many scandalous relationships since getting married.

“The paparazzi have terrible skills and consistently miss out on the important moments.”

People sympathized with me, envied me, and made fun of me. I simply grinned and moved on.
