Twist of Fate(BOOK 1) -
Chapter 10
Sophia
"Adé mí*, your food is ready. It's on the table," I called out to Yusuf- my husband. (my crown).
I didn't know what else I could do again. I was tired of making his life hell because he said it made him fall harder. He was such a cheesy cool guy.
Since past months, I'd been trying but didn't stop myself from my wifely duties like cooking, maintaining the house, caring for him-because that was my duty.
Well, I was grateful to Allah for granting me him because he was very tolerable, understanding and patient with me even after all my tantrums. He said I was a fire and he was a moth who was always drawn to me.
He liked to tease me with every opportunity he had. He also cherished me with gifts and surprises, especially the bars of vanilla chocolate.
Oh my goodness, that was my weak point.
"Assalamualaikum. Good morning, wife" he planted a soft kiss on my forehead. "How was your night? I hoped you dreamt about me?" He wiggled his eyebrows at me while his eyes twinkled with amusement making me blushed and shook my
head.
"Waalaikumsalam, morning! My dream was blank, no need of flattering yourself. I would rather dreamt of SpongeBob than dreamt of you," I playfully sneered at him, playing with my fingers.
"Wow, that's nice and cool. I know you are obsessed with SpongeBob; I think I will have to compete with it now. Thank Allah, not with Tom and Jerry," he fake- gasped, holding his chest in a painful manner. "Your food is on the table," I said dismissively, trying hard not to laugh.
"Thanks wifey, your food is the best. I couldn't even bring myself to eat any other food except yours," he mumbled walking towards the table while I scrutinized my eyes on him like a hawk.
"OK, well.. My mother's food also" he raised his hand in surrender while scrunched my nose not in dismay.
"Yummy my favourite. Thanks, wifey," he stood up and pecked my cheek before sitting.
After my father's death, he had used the opportunity of telling me to hug me to start pecking and holding my hand but I didn't repulse him.
Why would I reject him?.
When he's my husband. My brain chirped in, dancing dramatically around.
He was kind and cute, I gasped out internally.
Cute, my mind taunted me with raised eyebrows.
Yes, cute. I responded, rolling my eyes.
A typical me always having conversations with myself.
He rubbed his stomach like a starved man, sighed and uncovered his food. He waved his hand and started eating.
"Do you say azkar before eating?" I asked him.
"Oh! Subhanallah, I've forgotten, wifey."
I stood up from where I was sitting and held his left ear. "Didn't I always tell you to say your azkar before eating?" I said sternly with my other hand at my hip.
"Please, I'm sorry. The food is delicious and yummy, that was why I forgot to say it," he pleaded with his puppy eyes.
"Well, what are you supposed to say?" Still holding his ear.
"Bismillahi," he mumbled out and started eating. I quickly held his hand before he put it in his mouth.
"Is that what you're supposed to say?" I scowled, giving him a nasty glare.
"Yes. If not, you've to teach me." He grumbled, staring at the food longingly.
I sighed, still holding his hand. "When you forget to say Bismillah before eating, in the middle of eating, you should say "bismillahil awwaluhu wal akhiruhu," I told him and asked him to repeat it after me.

"Why did it change from bismillahi?" he asked inquisitively.
"If you don't say bismillah before eating, then shayton is eating the food with you but if you remember in between the meal, you say-bismillahi awwalu wal akhiru. Shayton is going run away" I explained while he nodded his head. "You'll be a great mother to our children" he commented.
Mother!. I shrieked but internally.

"Bye, wifey, I'm going to the office" he announced, carrying his office bag.
"Bye," I replied, he came near me and pecked my forehead.
He walked out from the door while waving his hand and blowing me kisses.
"Make sure you catch it, wifey. Don't let it waste," he winked before driving off.
I sat down on the couch and brought out my phone to call my Bestie - Maryam.
"Assalamualaikum, sugar." She greeted me excitedly.
"Waalaikumsalam, Mariam. How are you?" I replied with enthusiasm. Sitting Indian style on the couch.
I'd missed her craziness.
"Me? Fine and you? How is your handsome hubby?" She asked teasingly.
"He's fine, Alhamdulillah." I replied, munching my homemade chips.

"I hope you guys, you know..." She said smugly, I was sure she would've been wiggling her brows.
"No, we haven't." I replied sweetly.
"Why?!" She yelled, making me distance the phone from my ear, not wanting to damage my earbud from her shout. "I need to be an aunty sooooon" she whined.
"Hatred." I replied gruffly.
"HATRED?!! I know you are already smitten with him, no need of saying hatred. I know you are just scared." She responded softly.
"Me, SMITTEN??? No" I screamed.
"Yes, since the first day babe. He is a catch" She said.
"No" I grumbled.
"Say that to your heart" she snickered, "but what of your periods. I hope you don't make the gentle soul to suffer"
"Well, I made him suffer a little bit, you know. I sent him out to buy me pads in the middle of the night and get me chocolates. He watched movies with me, gave me a massage, cooked for me." I laughed widely. "No need of telling me, I know how you behave when you're having your cramps," she responded.
"Bae, I need to go. Boss is coming... Talk to you later!" She mumbled. "Before I go, I know you're whipped already, it showed clearly in your eyes the other day." She laughed mockingly.
"Assalamualaikum." I said.
"Waalaikumsalam." She replied and I sighed.
"But before I go" I heard her say while I hummed.
"I need to be an aunt soon" she screamed as she hung up.
Was I really smitten?.
