If circumstances had been different, their children might have been older than Miles and Amelia. Despite feeling deeply sorry for what had happened between Declan and his ex–girlfriend, Alexander still held onto hope that Declan would soon replace his own happiness.
Declan’s transformation into a playboy began after a tragle loss. He seemed uninterested in serious relationships, but Alexander understood the true cause. Declan was trying to escape the pain of losing his beloved, a challenge anyone would replace hard to face.
Yet, he confided only in Alexander. “Moving on isn’t simple,” Declan admitted, expressing his regret at not being able to let go sooner.
Alexander, unsure how to offer more comfort, sighed.
Isabella, feeling the sadness around them, pleced together their story.
Alexander said, “I think when she looks down from heaven, she wouldn’t want you living aimlessly
like this.”
“I’ll try.” Declan sighed deeply.
Listening to Declan’s woes about marriage pressure and his past, Isabella realized that everyone had their own struggles and weaknesses, often concealed behind a guise of resilience.
She reflected on her best friend Sofia, who, like Declan, had been single and distant from home due to similar pressures. ‘Most young people face marriage expectations,‘ she thought. Isabella, having lost her mother early, longed for maternal affection and yearned for someone to show her that level of
care.
After a long night of drinking with Declan and Alexander, Isabella was too tired to continue and went to rest in the master bedroom.
The following morning, Alexander had already left early.
Isabella, left uninformed of his plans, learned from Alfred during breakfast that Alexander had left the house. Feeling uneasy, she dialed Alexander’s number, seeking clarification about his
whereabouts.
His vague response heightened her suspicions, stirring up insecurities, An unsettling fear crept in: ‘Is Alexander secretly meeting another woman?‘ This notion triggered a wave of panic within Isabella.
She debated leaving early to avoid potential abandonment, fearing the agony of betrayal once more. To ease her anxiety, Alexander returned the call promptly, reassuring her, “I’m handling something important that I can’t reveal yet. Don’t worry, I’m alone.”
Isabella’s smile returned, feeling reassured by Alexander’s understanding of her concerns. His quick explanation helped ease her anxiety, making her think her worries might have been unfounded.
Still a bit groggy from sleep, Miles shuffled downstairs, rubbing his eyes before clumsily perching on his dining chair. “Is Daddy out today?” he asked.
Finishing her last bite of breakfast, Isabella responded, “Yes, he’s quite busy, so I’m here to spend

time with you and Amelia.”

Miles‘ eyes sparkled with hope and excitement. “Can we go out then? It feels like forever since we’ve been somewhere fun.”
Realizing it had indeed been a while since their last family outing, Isabella agreed, “Absolutely, once your sister wakes up, we’ll head out.”
An hour later, both children fully prepared, they embarked on a day of adventure.
Alfred, always willing to lend a hand, joined them. At the amusement park, Amelia’s persistent requests for ice cream couldn’t be ignored. Isabella relented, buying an ice cream for each child. The morning was filled with fun as Isabella and Alfred accompanied the kids. The children were too small for most rides, so they enjoyed the Ferris wheel and the merry–go–round.
Their mother’s presence made the day even more special for them. Come noon, they headed to a restaurant Alexander had reserved for them. Alfred drove them, and upon arrival, they unexpectedly
encountered Frank. He seemed to be engaged in a business meeting, working hard even on the weekend, which looked quite exhausting.
