Twisted Ties of Love
Chapter 377

Casey hadn't initiated a film project in a while. Whenever he did, he can bet it's going be a banger. Not only did he get a kick from working, but it also sent fans and audiences over the moon.

Seth was pondering on the road, wondering what team caught Casey's eye. Could it be that fantasy drama by Mr. Hackett he mentioned last time? But what he didn't expect. Seth looked at the printed script in his hand and froze.

"A horror movie?"

Casey nodded.

Seth overreacted, saying, "Holy cow, out of all the genres, you picked a horror movie? Are you nuts, or am I dreaming? Do you have any idea about the domestic film market? Horror movies don't draw a crowd A couple of years ago, a 3D horror flick with a 200 million investment bombed and was ridiculed by audiences. I thought you valued the reputation of your work; why would you pick this?"

Casey, known for his bad temper, was a tough guy to deal with. The only time he ever let his guard down was around Izabella. Normally, if Seth blabbered that much, he would've walked away. But today, he listened patiently, even with a smile on his face.

"The script is great."

Seth flipped through the script; it was indeed intriguing. He muttered, "I'll look into this team. Aren't they comedy filmmakers? You want them to do a horror movie?"

"Yeah, they're a fit." Casey's tone was identical to Izabella's last night.

"But this team used to do skits. Their recent three films didn't do so well. How did you end up choosing them? Am I still dreaming, or are you? At least Hackett has some work to his name and pays you well. I can't fathom why you'd go for this nearly bankrupt team. They probably can't even afford a tenth of your fee."

"I'm investing; no fee is needed."

"You're investing?" Seth was more confused about what Casey was thinking. He had a hunch that Casey was keeping something from him.

Seth asked in a low voice, "Are you hiding something from me?" He had a strong sixth sense, and by looking at Casey's twitching ears, he knew this had something to do with Izabella.

The more smug Casey felt, the faster his ears moved. This habit of his never changed! And who else could make him feel so smug other than Izabella?

"The female lead of this script is Izabella, right? She's playing your wife?"

Upon hearing this, Casey's ears not only twitched but also turned red, like ripe fruit in the mountains, spreading warmth to his cheeks.

"Yeah, she's playing my wife."

No wonder Casey was funding it himself. Seth had many thoughts recently. He used to look down on Izabella, as her reputation wasn't the best. From any standpoint, she wasn't a match for Casey. Plus, Casey was just starting out, and he was worried that Izabella would affect his career.

But after watching the first episode of her reality show, Seth changed his mind. As an insider, he had a fair understanding of the complex affairs of the entertainment industry.

Seth asked cautiously, "Are you dating Izabella?"

"Not yet."

Just as Seth sighed in relief, he saw Casey's smug face. "But it's going to happen soon. Seth, you were right. She's had a crush on me from the very beginning."

Casey went on, "Every night, we chat, and before bed, she sends me a goodnight message."

"So what if she sends you a goodnight message?"

"Isn't 'goodnight' another way to say 'I love you'? Even you don't know that." Casey looked at him with a condescending expression.

Seth thought to himself, 'This kid sure knows how to daydream'.

"Not only does she send me goodnight messages, she also texts me back when she's having meals."

"I also text you back when I'm having meals. Just today, I left my breakfast unfinished to rush over here when you called."

Casey gave him a cold stare, not very friendly. Seth immediately shut up and listened to Casey's fanciful delusions.

Kids did love to dream; what can he do? Spoiled them, of course.

"Also, whenever she's in trouble, I'm the first one she turns to. We've even acted in a scene together."

Geez, so they started interacting back then. Seth felt a twinge of discontent.

"Izabella also loves staring at my lips. I bet she wants to kiss me. She's so entranced by my lips. But my lips are indeed attractive; it's only natural that she wants to kiss me. I won't stop her." Casey touched his lower lip; his mind was filled with PG-13 images.

Seth felt like he was about to lose it. How did he never realize Casey was this narcissistic?

As Casey talked, he recalled the night they watched a movie together, and Izabella suddenly touched his mouth. If she didn't like him, why would she make such an intimate gesture? If she didn't like him, why would she go on a date with him? If she didn't like him, why would she ask him to co-found a company? If she didn't like him, why would she let him hold her precious cat? If she didn't like him, why would she invite him to act in a film with her, playing a married couple?

Seth asked helplessly, "So, are you guys together now?"

Casey answered with a smile, "Not yet. She said it wasn't the time. She wants to focus on her work and career."

"She's just stringing you along. That's what all these heartbreakers do nowadays."

Casey's face fell. "Are you close to her?"

How was this different from a daughter turning her back on her hardworking parents? Seth didn't want to argue about this anymore. Let him daydream. He'll cry when the time came. "Let's talk about the movie. Are you sure you want to invest in and star in a horror movie directed by a comedy director?"

"Sure."

"So, why did you call me here today?"

"Oh." Casey casually sat in the boss's chair, slightly lifting his chin. "I just wanted to tell you to cancel my schedule." Recently, he not only had to study the script but also arrange for the contract handover with the filming team. Moreover, he had to secretly acquire shares of X Entertainment Company. He also wanted to participate in Izabella's new house decoration, hoping to complete it as soon as possible. After calculating, he wouldn't even have time to rest. Being a happy man was exhausting.

Casey's smirk said it all, and this time, it's not just his ears that were moving; his crossed leg was jiggling like crazy too. Seth watched as the cup of water on the table kept shaking. If he didn't know what was causing it, he'd think there was an earthquake or something.

Casey warns seriously, "Don't let the news leak that I'm doing a horror flick. Keep an eye on the PR guys; just tell them I'm on vacation. Let's give them a surprise when it's time to promote the movie." Seth thought to himself, Wouldn't that be more of a shock? Casey, who always steered clear of romance, was now going to play husband and wife with another actress.
