Twisted Ties of Love -
Chapter 433
Bell couldn't mimic the confidence and pride deeply ingrained in Izabella, but the unique gentleness Bell possessed was something Izabella couldn't touch. Nathaniel found himself missing Bell again.
He was puzzled. It was Bell's face and Bell's body, so why wasn't it Bell anymore?
This was Izabella. So where had Bell gone? Would she come back?
In Nathaniel's life, besides his mother, he had special feelings for two women, Izabella and Bell.
He saw his mother's shadow in Izabella because she too had dedicated her life to a man she loved.
But his mother and Izabella were totally different. His mother was too fragile, like a woman who could only depend on a man, no matter how he treated her, she would obediently watch him and beg him.
But Izabella was different. She could go from liking to disappointment, from disappointment to disgust. If she said she didn't like Brett, she truly wouldn't care about Brett anymore, she could even use suicide to get back at Brett.
He admired the resilience in Izabella, yet he wanted to break it because that was what his mother lacked.
When Bell liked a man, she was like his mother, she was easily bullied. Even if the man gave her gentleness and dignity, it was all redundant.
The time he spent with Bell was like taking care of a pet, and pets didn't need dignity.
Like a dog, if you gave it a bone and petted its head from time to time, it would be over the moon.
That's how he treated Bell. When he got used to it, he almost forgot she was a person, that she could feel pain and cry, and when she left, she could be as resolute as Izabella, not caring about him anymore. Nathaniel tasted the seasoning without the chopped parsley in front of him, the difference with or without it was not big.
"When did you come back?" Nathaniel's words were full of implications. The people at the table were busy eating, few noticed Nathaniel's words.
Nathaniel was asking Izabella. Izabella put down her fork and said, "Do you remember Bell's birthday? That's the day I came back."
Bell's birthday was easy to remember, it was on June 1st. Izabella came back that day, and Bell also passed away.
"Are you sad?"
Nathaniel shook his head, his expression silent.
Izabella sneered, "You and Brett are alike, truly brothers. But you're even more ruthless, Brett at least has regrets, but I can't see your true thoughts. Don't people like you, who treat love as a toy, fear never getting true love?"
Nathaniel said sarcastically, "What's the use of true love? Can it feed me?"
"In the year Bell was with you, she cooked for you every day. Isn't that proof of her genuine love for you?" Izabella's words were gentle as water when soft, but when harsh, they were more painful than a knife in the heart.
Nathaniel lost his appetite.
Facing Nathaniel, Izabella also couldn't eat anymore. Just then, a waiter came over and said, "Ms. Salotti, someone outside is looking for you."
"Looking for me?" Izabella checked her phone and saw an unread message from Casey Dempsey.
"Are you still eating? I'm waiting for you outside."
Izabella suddenly stood up and said, "I'm going out to take a call." Then she hurriedly left.
"Who's she in such a hurry to meet?"
"Must be a friend, right? Or could it be a boyfriend?" Everyone was joking.
Brad took a sip of soup and thought to himself that it wasn't a boyfriend, but a husband. Izabella went to meet her husband, how enviable.
After making a call, Izabella saw Casey. His arm was bandaged, and the wound on his forehead had scabbed over, but he still looked incredibly handsome.
"Have you eaten?" Izabella ran over to ask.
"Not yet. I had booked a place to celebrate for you, but I didn't expect your crew to throw you a celebration dinner." Casey spoke carefully because he had recently had a tooth extracted and wasn't used to it yet, afraid Izabella would notice.
But she did anyway.
"What's wrong with your teeth?" Izabella frowned and looked at his mouth.
Was it because his mouth looked too much like Ryker's that she noticed so quickly?
Casey clenched his left hand and said, "I accidentally knocked it off."
"How can you knock off a tooth?" Izabella went forward and touched his jaw. "Open your mouth and let me see."
Casey awkwardly said, "Okay, I'll tell you. My tooth wasn't knocked off, it was extracted. I thought those two teeth affected my appearance and my acting, so I decided to have them extracted."
"Do your teeth affect your acting? And they don't affect your appearance." Izabella kept staring at his mouth, feeling that Casey wasn't revealing his true thoughts, so she let go of her hand. "Then why did you only extract one?"
Casey covered his mouth and explained, "Extracting teeth is too painful. I only extracted one. I'll get the other one later. After the extraction, I couldn't eat. Look, I've lost weight."
After getting hurt, Casey had to stick to bland food, and the list of stuff he had to avoid after having his tooth pulled was even longer. Plus, he couldn't really eat anything, it hurt like hell every time anything touched his tooth.
From the moment Izabella laid eyes on Casey, she could tell he had lost weight. He was already pale as a ghost, but now that he was sick, he looked even more washed out under the lights.
