Twisting Her Fate
Chapter 105

Maggie's pace quickens as she listens to Oscar shouting behind her. She will be happy, as long as she has that title, she doesn't care about anything, even if she is an omega. At least she will still be a luna. No one ever has to know, she will still be above the others. Life can go on the same way that it has always been.

Even though her body is still in agony from the rejection, even though her mind is still reeling from the letter that destroyed everything she thought she knew, she moves faster and faster toward the entrance to the amber pack, it isn't too long before she makes it to the road.

Maggie waves down the first car she sees. The driver stops in shock, bowing slightly as she grips the steering wheel unsure of what is going on, Maggie is rarely around the pack now, so to see the luna of the half moon pack stop her car when she has had so little interaction with Maggie before this. She is not even sure how to address her at all.

"How can I help Maggie?"

"Just get out of the car, I need it"

"Ahh, do you need me to drive you somewhere?"

"Did I say that? I said for you to get out of the car"

"But what am I meant to do?"

Maggie looks at the woman in front of her, her face doesn't even look familiar, she isn't pretty and is no competition to Maggie, so Maggie hasn't paid attention to her at all. Maggie's paranoia is hitting an all-time high. Can she see the truth? Can she see that Maggie is an omega?

"Do I look like I care what you do? Who are you to question me? You are nothing. Just give me your car and f*ck off. You should be thankful that I am even willing to sit in your disgusting car"

While the woman is shocked in place, Maggie opens the drivers door, using all her rage and her sharp claws to dig into the woman's arm and tearing her from the seat and casting her onto the ground. Maggie looks at the shocked woman from above.

"Know who you are before you talk to me, you don't even deserve to lick my shoes"

Maggie jumps in the car, she slings her arm out the window as she restarts the car and driving forward with a lurch. The lady is laying on the ground, watching Maggie's slightly manic look in her eyes, scrambling to try and get up as Maggie adjusts the mirrors before reversing back over the woman's legs. The woman's anguished screams are the only thing that overtakes Maggie's maniacal laughter.

Maggie disregards the screaming injured woman in front of her to do a three-point turn and drive out of the amber pack.

Maggie hums to herself as she drives, she doesn't feel like an omega, she feels the same, she feels just as powerful as she always has.

As Maggie is driving toward the half moon pack she views a car that has crashed off the road. The car is still smoking heavily and the occupant is leaning up against the car with blood all over them. Maggie is just about to drive past when she realizes that the driver is in fact Gabriel.

Maggie skids the car to a stop, jumping straight out and running toward Gabriel.

Gabriel is just sitting with his back leaning against the wreckage of the vehicle, some of the bottles of alcohol actually survived the incident and he is making sure to finish them all.

Gabriel's bleary eyes view a woman running toward him, he sees a flash of blonde and, for a brief moment, he is convinced that it is Leilani running toward him, the bottle lowers and a grin graces his weary face.

"I knew you couldn't stay away"

Maggie doesn't hear him as she moves cautiously toward him. She cannot afford to be damaged in any way.

"Gabriel?"

In Gabriel's hazy mind, all he hears is Leilani's beautiful voice.

"He was right, it is clear now"

Maggie squats in front of Gabriel, placing a dainty hand on his shoulder with a look of deep concern painted on her features. Gabriel still has a large shard of glass that is sticking out of his neck, blood is pouring from the open wound, yet Gabriel seems completely unfazed by the whole thing.

The beautiful face in front of him twists and morphs into Maggie. Gabriel instantly recoils.

"Get the f*ck away from me"

"Shh Gabriel, I am here to help you"

"Do I look like I need your help?"

Once again, Gabriel lifts the bottle to his lips, feeling the familiar numbing effect washing over him.

"It does actually. Do you want to stay here and bleed out or do you want to come with me?"

Gabriel just laughs.

"The rejected comes crawling to me. You know what Maggie. I never knew you were so pathetic. It is funny really. I thought you were better, but you are so much worse.....So much worse"

All Maggie can do is swallow down all the insults without saying a word as she starts to pull out the pieces of glass. If she wasn't counting on Gabriel to ensure her own survival, she would love nothing more than to shove the piece in further and stand back and watch Gabriel bleed out.

"What has made you like this?"

"Dad is calling a pack wide meeting"

Maggie's eyes light up at the news. This could be the moment she has been waiting for.

"What do you think it is about?"

"Dunno making something clear"

"Maybe Lance is trying to get some pack unity. If you were finally able to take me as Luna like we have been waiting for, wouldn't it give the pack members the security that they need? Wouldn't it renew their faith in the leadership?"

Gabriel just stares at the woman in front of him, even with his slightly blurry eyes. He can still tell that the woman in front of him has gone off on a tangent. She is no longer even attempting to fix him up. Her whole movement has paused as she starts thinking about her grandeur.

Once again, he can't help but wonder what on earth he was thinking, was he really so blind before or is she getting worse?

"I don't think that is what he's going to announce"

Does Maggie always live in her own dream world or is this just a recent occurrence? Does she really think that anyone would be jumping at the opportunity of having her?

Is she really so delusional?

It has now come to light that Gabriel does have a fated mate, which was one the proviso's of Gabriel and Maggie being together was as long as Gabriel didn't have a fated. Gabriel and Maggie have been on the outs, which has been visible within the pack. Maggie was a large chunk of the reason for the embarrassment at the Alpha Luna ball. What would possibly go through her mind to make her believe that a mating between the pair and her becoming luna would settle the pack down? It would more likely cause a rebellion. Gabriel has paid more attention to Maggie as a person and as a Luna lately and he has come to the conclusion that not many actually like Maggie. He thought she was liked but it was only her benefits in bed and nothing more.

Maggie continues with pulling out glass with a new-found sense of motivation. As soon as it is announced, Gabriel won't be able to do anything about it and no one will be able to say anything contrary. The position that was meant to be hers will finally be set in stone.

The mark will be on her shoulder and nothing about her lineage will ever be discussed. When she has children if they take after her, they can just not train and not shift like she has done her whole life. It is easy, it is all falling into place and Maggie can only see the long and happy road ahead.

Gabriel just keeps drinking, watching the woman work. The more he drinks the worse she looks.

He tilts his head slightly to the side as he looks at her, trying to feel her natural aura. He has never really paid too much attention to it, as he's so powerful it seems to override everyone else is in the room, but at the moment, his own is not that great, the harsh treatment of his own body. The fact that he hasn't trained in weeks, the fact that he hasn't been sleeping well and just the general depression that seems to be pressing down on him is taking a toll on his aura as would be expected. Maggie's aura still feels like a withering nothing next to his own. Which is a far cry from Leilani's aura, which rivals Gabriel's and even Connor's at times. Which seems to have a life of its own.

Gabriel doesn't say anything more to Maggie, just silently observing through narrowed eyes.

Maggie is smiling happily as she puts him to all her effort to help Gabriel move from the car to the one she managed to acquire.

Gabriel watches her struggle under his weight. While he knows he is heavy, he is also fairly lucid and is taking most of the weight himself. But anyone would believe that Maggie is trying to take his entire body weight with the way she's struggling. Maggie wipes her forehead with her sleeve and pants to try and regain her breath after she places Gabriel in the passenger seat.

Maggie's eyes move up to meet Gabriel's, which are looking at her with such clarity, she can't help but shudder, she can't help but feel like he knows.
