Twisting Her Fate -
Chapter 65
All the pieces are falling into place in Gabriel's head. After the elite squad came to visit is when it all started happening. Connor instantly relinquishing all claim on Maggie. That first bit of heartache, it was exactly the same time as Maggie felt hers, starting just after the visit. The different times of s*x was what threw him off, but they were deliberate times. The first time was directly as the elite squad were leaving. They saw the start and it was like they were waiting for it.
He and Maggie having the same niggling feeling in their hearts the whole time.
This has all been a massive game, and he has been played.
Connor has somehow found Gabriel's fated mate and sent her in to the half moon pack with the elite squad so he didn't notice. Connor has then proceeded to punish Gabriel for taking Maggie by taking Gabriel's own mate and making him feel pain. Gabriel's whole version is so twisted, making Connor the sole culprit, still in this moment believing that Leilani is weak and worthless.
Maggie looks at Gabriel.
"What did you say??"
Maybe doesn't understand the meaning of his words at all. Why would he randomly be bringing up what the doctor said now? Of course she doesn't recognize Leilani at all, that weak little girl disappeared from her thoughts the moment she left the pack and no longer was a threat. Maggie, even at a young age, was thankful to get rid of the woman that could have grown into a beauty. She never wanted a person like that to be around her man.
Short of that, she doesn't have the faintest idea that Leilani is Gabriel's fated mate, so Maggie is only seeing Connor dancing so lovingly with some random beautiful woman.
It would not even cross her mind for a single second that this woman is actually Gabriel's fated mate.
Jealousy is coursing through Maggie's veins as she watches the scene. If she knew the woman that had Connor so infatuated, was actually Gabriel's mate, she would spontaneously combust, fury would grip her.
On the dance floor, the music has reached the crescendo and the two on the dance floor wow the crowd with their movements. The song comes to an end and Connor dips Leilani back, a glorious curve on her spine as she allows him to hold her body with just one hand, his hand slips behind her knee and he drags it up her own leg. Her sensual long leg looking particularly striking against his gray suit pants.
Every movement showing how in tune they are with each other, how they know each other inside and out.
Connor leans down, kissing Lani deeply, her hands weaving naturally around his neck as their kiss increases in passion. Connor pulls her up into a standing position as the crowd applauds around them. Connor's nose runs down her neck before he places a kiss on her shoulder. "Are you ready for this?"
"Not particularly. I don't think I thought this through. What is it going to do to your reputation if something like this blows up in public? I was only thinking of their humiliation and embarrassment. I didn't really think of your own"
Connor hooks her chin, tilting her head up so that she is looking directly in her eyes, their noses touching, their bodies pressed tightly together, her arms wrapped around his body tightly, not wanting to let go.
"Babe, as long as at the end you are still walking out by my side, I care little for anything else"
He doesn't care if it comes out that Maggie is his mate, he doesn't care that she chose Gabriel over him, none of it matters as long as he gets the girl. He kisses the tip of her nose.
Gabriel just stands watching everything. Finally, the tropical scent that he has smelled so often in the last few weeks floats to his nose. It took a while past all the other werewolves in the room that overpowered everything else. Gabriel clenches his fists, his knuckles popping.
The shock, the humiliation, the anger.
All the feelings make it so Gabriel is unable to even think of a way to deal with the situation. His pale blue eyes just focused on the two. If looks could kill, there would not be a single piece of intact flesh on the loving couple that is busy showing the whole world their happiness.
Maggie moves faster than Gabriel. She rushes forward and all her talk of composure is out the window. Gabriel's warning is a long lost memory. The graceful beautiful woman morphing into an angry shrew before the crowds eyes. "What the hell do you think you are doing?"
Connor kisses Leilani gently once more before releasing her chin and turning slightly, the couple turning to face Maggie, Connor's arm tightly weaved around Leilani's waist, keeping her pulled close to him. The couple presenting a united front against the enemy. The two looking like a perfectly matched couple in every way, their heights are compatible, their looks are complementary. But what is on the outside matters little to the both of them, it is the deep connection that they share is the most important thing. "What are you saying Luna?"
Connor looks like he is genuinely confused, what he is doing is pretty obvious, dancing with his girl, is there anything wrong with Maggie's eyes? "What do you think you are doing with this?"
Maggie gestures aggressively at Leilani like she is nothing, even if Maggie doesn't even believe that for a single second.
"This? You mean my date? The most beautiful girl I have ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on? Is that the 'this' you are talking about?"
Maggie gives Leilani a scathing look. She doesn't deny the words, but the words make her so angry that she feels like tearing the b*tches head off.
As Maggie finally takes a good hard look at the girl, a sense of familiarity wells up inside her, but Maggie doesn't take a moment to dwell on the fact. All pretty girls are to her, are threats. They hold no value.
Leilani just stands aside watching the show like an impartial third party. She has full trust in Connor to deal with Maggie. She is just slightly surprised that Maggie is the one to come running in after how Connor treated her last time. Leilani can't believe that Maggie is going for round two and has not learned her lesson at all. Wasn't round one enough to sink in, to reconsider another round? Wasn't it humiliating enough? Last time was in private, now she is in front of most of the most important people in their world and Maggie comes rushing in with no regard for her dignity or even the memory that she is meant to be representing the half moon pack. Maggie is more crazy than she first anticipated.
But what surprises her the most is that Gabriel hasn't moved one step from his original position, just watching the whole thing.
She will leave Maggie for Connor to deal with and when Gabriel eventually throws himself into the fray, then that is all on her.
"A bit of makeup and a fancy dress doesn't make a woman. When there is no substance and bad blood, what is she going to do when it looks fade away and she is left with nothing?"
Connor raises his eyebrows at the woman covering his mouth slightly as he coughs. If he didn't know any better he would think that Maggie was talking about herself, but the fact that she is so delusional that she is pouring out her own shortcomings on another person that she has no idea about, a woman that she wouldn't know the first thing about just shows what a shallow and terrible person Maggie is.
Leilani's spare hand makes its way onto Connor's chest where she rubs small circles showing her possession of the man. Her support of the man and helping to keep Connor calm. She knows Connor by nature, is protective, so Maggie badmouthing her is not going to go down particularly well. Even if Leilani doesn't care about it, Connor will.
"You really want to get into a discussion about substance with me?"
"Why are you scared that your pretty little companion will come out looking bad?"
"You judge her so harshly because she's beautiful. Well, what about you? You don't measure up to her in looks and you have no substance. Where is your value?"
"My value? Everything about me is better than her"
"You can keep dreaming all you want. One day you'll wake up in reality and know that that is untrue"
Gabriel finally moves as he starts to hear the discussions around him.
"Who is that crazy woman trying to attack Alpha Storm?"
"I am not sure I have seen her here with Alpha Hutchins. I have no idea why she is being a raving lunatic"
"Is there bad blood between the packs?"
"I don't think so, this seems more personal."
"What a fool attacking L in such a way"
"I know, does she even have a mirror? She is delusional if she thinks she is even in the same category as L"
Gabriel was hoping that Maggie would sort out the situation, instead she is just coming off as more and more id*otic. He should have never let her move. As soon as he saw it, saw the situation and figured out what was going on, he should have just walked away, taking Maggie with him. They could sort it out later, but now they are the focus of attention.
Everyone in the place is wondering why his raving lunatic of a date is attacking the golden couple from the very first moment she walked in. Maggie is not witty or clever or even realistic to try and compare her looks. Maggie might be better in every other way, but Connor's date is clearly more beautiful.
The half moon packs reputation is crumbling fast.
By all accounts, even though Connor's date hasn't spoken a single word, she is coming off better than Maggie. At least she's poised and calm, whereas Maggie is just appearing more and more like a blithering id*ot, with a raging red face, than intelligent in any way. Nothing would suggest that she is from Alpha wolf breeding. Just coming off as unreasonable, petty and stupid.
The scent keeps drifting to his nose as he stares at the girl. Nothing about the bond stands out due to the serum, but it is that scent and that hair. Gabriel is trying to recall any features from her before but he is drawing a blank. He really paid very little attention to Leilani before he sent her away.
He cannot confirm anything, even looking at her isn't helping.
This girl, in her beautiful dress with her flawless face and stunning figure, looks nothing like the dirty, weak girl he sent away back then. She is not triggering any memories, nothing at all.
