She frowned, turned around, and squatted down in front of the kids.

“Aiden, Alex, go back to your room, now!”

“Granny, I love mommy! You can’t be mean to her.” Aiden usually minded his manners, but he felt theneed to stand up to his grandma for his mom.

Seeing his brother speak up, Alex also chimed in, “Yeah, granny! We love both mommy and you, butwhy are you always so hard on mommy?”

Being questioned by the two children, Sophia felt quite uncomfortable in her heart.

“Me? Mean to your mom? Your dad must’ve fed you with wrong info! Now, off you go, I have somewords with them.” Alex wanted to say something more, but Aiden wisely stopped him, “Alright, I’mtaking Alex back to our room now.”

“Good.”

Sophia watched as the two kids left, then quickly shifted her gaze to Clara.

“Happy now?”

“…Sophia, I really didn’t say anything!”

“Playing innocent, huh!” Sophia accused, “My grandkids were angels before you showed up! But nowthey’re all acting out! Are you teaching them bad things behind my back?”

Emmett stepped in front of Clara, “Clara works late every day, and she barely has time to spend withthe kids. Plus, Aiden and Alex are old enough to know right from wrong.”

“Emmett, she’s got you wrapped around her finger!” Sophia looked at her son disappointingly, “I haveno problem with you marrying her, but if you’re going to let my grandkids suffer, that’s a no-go!”

“If you can’t get along with Clara, then I’ve decided to move out with the kids! I won’t live here anymore,so you won’t have to worry about us.”

Sophia couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Although Emmett rarely showed his care, he wasalways a dutiful son. But now, he was talking back to his mother, even threatening to leave home, all fora woman.

Clara, seeing the situation, quickly tried to defuse the tension, “Don’t! Don’t take his words seriously!We’re going back to our room now, and you should get some rest too!”

“I don’t need your pity.” Sophia glared at her, “I suspected from the start that you had ulterior motivescoming into my house, and now it seems I was right!”

“Let’s go.” Emmett didn’t want to argue with his mother any longer, and started to leave with Clara.

Sophia blocked their way. “Emmett! I’m your mother! Are you really going to do this to me?!”

“I feel like you’re being unfair to my wife, and as her husband, I can’t just sit back and do nothing! Youshould’ve considered my feelings as your son when you were making things difficult for Clara, but youdidn’t! Now, why should I care about your feelings?”

“Aiden and Alex are my kids, if I leave, they’re coming with me! Thanks for all the care you’ve giventhem over the years.”
