“I reckon your bias against Clara is because you just don’t like her, so no matter what she does, youthink there’s something off! Perhaps, Aiden and Alex’s birth mom can’t meet your standards too.”

“That’s not fair!” Sophia retorted, “No matter what, that woman is the mother of those two kids! If shedoesn’t love them, who will?”

Patrick took a sip of water, stood up, and said, “Ah, forget it! I can’t deal with you women’s issues! I justwish we could have some peace and quiet at home, with no more drama.”

Sophia pouted, “I’m just thinking about the kids! I’ve been thinking about it these days, so I can’t sleepat night!”

“You’re not getting any younger, why not just kick back and enjoy your twilight years? Emmett is doinga great job running the company, and both grandkids are healthy and happy, I really don’t get whyyou’re worried,” Patrick sighed deeply, “I’m going fishing with some friends, you figure it out.”

He was not cut out for dealing with such complex issues. Under Emmett’s push, the review resultscame out quickly.

And of course, it was… approved!

Clara, holding the final design draft, was as happy as a kid with a new toy!

She didn’t have such a happy moment in years!

Emmett watched her from the side, and a slight smile appeared on his face.

“You’re this happy just for getting approved? If the construction is completed, won’t you lose sleep?”

“Absolutely!” Clara squinted her eyes and smiled, “I want to watch it being built brick by brick! Can I goto the site?”

Emmett frowned upon hearing this, “The site is dangerous, it’s not for you! After work, I can drive youthere to check the progress.”

“But I want more than just checking progress! I think I should participate in person, so I can knowwhere my shortcomings are in my next design.”

“I see you care more about your design than me!”

Clara paused, then laughed, “Are you being jealous?”

“Why can’t I feel unbalanced? I’m your husband, a man! You focus all your attention on work andignore me.” Emmett was a bit upset, when did he become so insignificant?

“I didn’t ignore you! Without you, how could I have a chance to prove myself?”

Emmett nodded, “That’s more like it!”

“Mr. Melendez, I really owe you one!” Clara even went over to give him a shoulder rub.

Emmett raised an eyebrow, “Just a verbal thank-you?”

“How about I buy you a shirt as a gift?”

“Can you afford it?”

“Although I can’t afford an expensive one, I can buy a cheap one.”

Emmett looked at her, “You want me to wear cheap clothes?”

“Alright, what do you want as a reward?”

“Today, three times.”

Clara paused before understanding what he meant. Her cheeks immediately turned red, “You! How canyou talk about this during the daytime!”

“Aren’t we discussing my reward? What’s wrong with me making a request?” Emmett didn’t feeluncomfortable at all.

“No way, twice at most!”

She still has to work tomorrow!
