“Mr Melendez, I really think you should have a heart–to–heart with Molly Parrott! If she’s that into you,ready to drop her own pride, then why not marry her to appease your parents?”

Emmett’s tall figure halted, “You think I’d marry a woman who’s lost her marbles?”

“But… Ms Parrott is from a noble family! She must know way more than me, just a plain secretary!Maybe she could even help you out, be your virtuous and decent wife!”

Emmett suddenly stopped, raising an eyebrow at the woman behind him, “Are you trying to

break our contract?”

“No, no, no, not at all! I just think Molly Parrott is a better fit for you!”

Seeing Emmett’s displeasure, Clara didn’t dare to say more.

“Are you jealous?” Emmett suddenly looked straight into her eyes.

Caught off guard, Clara was a bit flustered.

“Mr. Melendez, what… what are you talking about? Why would I be jealous? I know my place, don’tworry! Even if all the women in the world are after you, I wouldn’t be jealous!”

She thought that would make Emmett feel better, but his face only darkened.

“All the women in the world, and you wouldn’t be jealous? Hmm?”

“Yes, that’s right…” Clara instinctively took a step back, creating some distance, “Mr Melendez, don’tstare at me like that, it’s making me uncomfortable!”

“Do you hear yourself? Is that something a wife should say?” Emmett glanced at her, “Think before youspeak next time!”

“Okay…” Clara nodded, not quite understanding where she went wrong, but if Mr Melendez said shedid, then she did.

Emmett was always a mystery to her.

After getting bandaged up at the hospital with Emmett, Clara couldn’t help but wonder.

“Mr Melendez, how many security guards do we have at our company? How did they all suddenlydisappear, and this Molly Parrott, does she really have that much power? Isn’t this like giving her freeaccess to our company?”

“Do you know what the Parrott family does?” Emmett got back into the car, putting on his glasses,“They’re in pharmaceutical research.”

“So you’re saying… Molly Parrott drugged our company’s security and reception?”

My god, this woman had lost it!

“I’ve already had Ricardo bring people to the hospital for tests! Do you still think Molly Parrott is just asimple, love–crazy woman?”

Clara awkwardly laughed. “I’m sorry, I made a wrong judgment!”

“Next time something like this happens, call me right away.” Emmett shut the car door, “I’m taking youto the airport now, you need to get going.”

“But I didn’t pack anything!”

“I’ll have Ricardo bring it to you.”

“But, my flight isn’t for a while, I wanted to finish all my work before going!”

Otherwise, I’ll be swamped with work as soon as I get back, and I might not even have time to breathe.

“Take my private jet, they’re waiting for you.”

“What?” Clara was very surprised, and after a while, she kept waving her hands, “Mr. Melendez, youreally don’t need to take care of me like this! I’m just going to see my son, I don’t want to attract toomuch attention! I can just take a regular flight, if I take your private jet, I might not get used to it!”

“You’re my wife, it’s good to get used to this kind of life sooner.”
