Ultimate Evolution I Became the Master of the World -
Chapter 55 Please Begin Your Performance
"Ethan, hold for a sec. I gotta deal with this first," Michael said.
Ethan shot Lucas a pitying look.
This dude really had the guts to mess with Michael. Didn't he know Michael was a Ghost Handler?
These days, you didn't mess with someone who could control Vengeful Ghost. They could be pretty intense. The good ones joined Interpol, kept the peace, and helped humanity thrive.
But if they were bad, a Ghost Handler was a real nightmare.
They'd got a thousand ways to take out a regular person, and you wouldn't even know what hit you.
"I'll wait for your response," Ethan nodded.
Michael turned to Lucas and held out his hand, "Caterpillar, come on, show us what you got."
"What did you call me? Who's a caterpillar?" Lucas yelled, "You all saw it. This security guard is truly cocky. He extorted me at the mall, transferring over 1.8 million dollars from my account to his. That amount should be enough to start an investigation, right?"
"If it's true, we'll investigate. We won't let a bad guy go, but we won't wrong a good one either," a cop said, "What's your name? Can you show us your ID?"
Michael said, "I think there's a misunderstanding. I didn't extort him. Lucas and I had a business deal, and he paid me upfront. You can ask the others who were with us."
"We'll look into it. But we still need your name and ID. Please cooperate," the cop said.
Lucas smirked at Michael.
"My name's Michael. Here's my Social Security card." Michael handed over his card. "Check it out."
A cop took his card and passed it to a colleague.
The colleague went to the computer to check for any criminal records and personal info.
The remaining cop kept questioning, "Lucas said you extorted him at the mall, involving 1,854,863 dollars. Is that true?"
"I'm a good guy. I wouldn't do that," Michael said, "This is slander."
Lucas said, "A good guy? I have your transaction records."
"Do you admit this account is yours? If so, we can confirm the transfer and start an investigation," the cop said.
Michael grinned, "That account's not mine."
The bank card wasn't his; it was his mom's.
"It's okay. We can check with the bank then," Lucas said.
"Keep an eye on both of them." The cop took the bank info to gather evidence.
Once the cop left, Lucas whispered, "You've made over ten million saving people. Be happy with that. Give me my money back, and I won't bother you. If you're convicted of extortion, you'll be in prison for over ten years." "Alright, I'll give the money back if you crawl like a caterpillar to the fifth floor of the mall. Do that, and I'll transfer the money right away," Michael said with a grin.
Lucas's face went pale, a flicker of fear crossing his eyes. No way was he going back to that place.
"You saved me, but there's no proof. In the eyes of the law, everything needs evidence. I have lawyer friends, so I know this stuff better than you. Just give me my money back, and I won't accuse you of extortion," Lucas said. "You're such a slimy caterpillar. I should've squashed you earlier." Michael's eyes turned icy, "I'm not in the mood to deal with you right now, so you better leave. But if you keep bugging me," he whispered in Lucas's ear, "I won't hesitate to show you what a real Vengeful Ghost looks like."
Lucas was scared, but with all the cops around, he felt safe. He wasn't afraid of Michael doing anything crazy, so he said confidently, "You think I'm scared of you?" Meanwhile, on the other side.
"Leo, come check this out," a cop investigating Michael suddenly called out.
Leo walked over, "What's up?"
"Look at this guy's file. It's weird," the cop pointed at the laptop screen.
The screen showed Michael's file, but it had no personal info, just a note saying the file was classified and access was restricted.
"Even the police department can't view it?" Leo was taken aback, then said seriously, "Give me the Social Security card. I'll make a call."
He picked up the phone and dialed a number, "Hey, it's Leo. I have a suspect's Social Security card info here. Can you check it for me? Our access isn't enough. How about your side?"
"Leo, you always bring me the tough ones. This guy's file is in a special department and it's highly classified. Even at a higher level, we can't access it. Hold on, I got a call come in." The voice on the other end paused.
"Can you hear me?" Leo asked.
After a long pause, the colleague on the other end said, "It's an anti-tracking program. Someone's already warned us not to keep digging into this Michael. His clearance is way higher than yours. If he holds a position, he can mobilize all the police forces in the city. Even we can't direct him."
"If Michael's committed a crime, we can investigate, but we can't detain or arrest him without permission. Be careful not to get used by someone. The leadership has made it clear that if anyone tries to frame an Interpol officer, they'll be arrested for endangering national security," the voice on the other side finished.
"Got it. Thanks," Leo said, then hung up.
He glanced at Michael in the distance.
The Social Security card showed he was only eighteen. No matter how capable he was, it was hard to believe someone so young could reach such a high level.
'An Interpol officer like Nikolai?' Leo thought.
Only people like that would get special treatment from various countries.
"I'll handle Michael's case. You guys can go back to your other tasks," Leo said.
