Ultimate Evolution I Became the Master of the World
Chapter 70 Is Someone Talking About Me?

A scream ripped through a house in some random neighborhood.

Even with the door shut tight, the room was packed with burly guys in suits.

"Ghost Handler? I've seen my share of Ghost Gandlers, Ethan, and you're not the worst off. I might not have the guts or the skills to deal with ghosts, but I've got plenty of experience dealing with people." A cold-looking young guy, holding a baton, stared down at Ethan, who was chained to the floor with nails driven through his hands and feet.

"One more time, where'd you stash the ghost you caught at the mall? Is it with that guy named Michael?" he demanded, clearly pissed.

"I don't know, and I won't tell you. If you've got the guts, take the ghost inside me." Ethan lay there, bloodied and defiant.

But his powers were too weak to fight back. Right now, he was stuck, nailed to the ground with no way out.

The chains and nails were custom-made, steel mixed with gold.

They were kinda shoddy, but more than enough to handle a Ghost Handler like Ethan.

"What good is the ghost inside you? I want that one. Doesn't matter if you don't talk, I've already sent people to replace Michael. Once I confirm he has it, you're dead. But knowing you, you wouldn't hand over something so valuable to him. Even if he is also a Ghost Handler.".

The cold young guy was Howard Jensen, running this whole show.

"If I die, the ghost will come out and you won't have it easy," Ethan gritted his teeth.

Howard sneered, "What's that got to do with me? By then, I'll be long gone, leaving it to the international police. You think I'm scared of you dying from a ghost's resurgence? The ghost and you are two different things." With that, he swung the baton hard at Ethan's head again.

Ethan screamed, his skull dented like his brain was about to crack.

A hit like that would've killed a regular person. But Ethan just felt pain and screamed, not showing any signs of dying.

"You're really tough, still alive after all this. But that's all you've got." Howard swung the baton hard at Ethan's arms and legs a few more times.

Ethan's bones cracked, and blood kept pouring out.

"No matter how much you beat me, it's useless. I won't live much longer anyway. You won't get that box," he said, his face covered in blood, laughing bitterly.

Howard replied, "So, you really did give that item to Michael? You really trust that new Ghost Handler who knows nothing?"

Despite Ethan's tough act, Howard had already guessed the item wasn't with Ethan.

"Call Hugo and tell him the item is with Michael. If negotiations fail, kidnap his family and scare him. He'll cave. Although he's a Ghost Handler, he's just a student, nothing to be afraid of. If it comes to it, cut off a few of his family members' fingers and send them to him. No need to fear Ghost Handlers too much, they're all short-lived. If you're really scared of revenge, just lay low for a few months." Howard suddenly said.

Of course, his so-called negotiations were basically robbery.

No one who knew the stakes would agree, especially with the kidnapping and threats.

"Yes, boss, I'll call Hugo right away," a subordinate replied immediately.

Suddenly, Ethan laughed bitterly.

"What are you laughing at?" Howard coldly shoved the baton into his mouth, "Don't want your tongue anymore?"

"I'm laughing because you got the wrong guy. You think the box is with Michael, but you don't know why it's with him," Ethan said, gritting his teeth through the pain. "It's not that I wanted to give it to him, but I couldn't take it back." "Ethan, what are you getting at?" Howard asked, narrowing his eyes.

Ethan replied, "I'm saying that even though Michael's a newbie, he's way tougher to deal with than me. If you really plan to take the item from him, you'll regret it."

"Really? I'll see what he's got," Howard sneered.

Even though he was cautious around Ghost Handlers, he wasn't scared. These people had short lifespans and were afraid to use their ghost powers too much. If they did, they'd die from the ghost's resurgence. Plus, a ghost's power couldn't mess with gold.

As long as they used gold to make a few items to trap the Ghost Handler, they could be captured.

"Boss, I can't reach Hugo," the subordinate said, puzzled, putting down the phone.

"Can't reach him?" Howard frowned. "Call the others, try them all. It's impossible that no one can be reached."

"Boss, we've tried them all, none of them can be reached," the others chimed in.

But without exception, all calls went unanswered.

"Don't bother, they're definitely in trouble." Ethan gasped, grinning. "If you personally went to deal with Michael, you might have a slight chance. Otherwise, you'll just fail to get that box."

"Seal his mouth and nail him here to die," Howard's face darkened. "Let's go to Hugo."

He thought Michael wouldn't be that hard to deal with, so he focused on Ethan. Unexpectedly, everything went smoothly except Hugo's side.

Just as they were about to tape Ethan's mouth shut, there was a knock on the door.

Immediately, everyone in the room stopped and looked towards the door.

"Go see who it is," Howard ordered.

Someone walked over and looked through the peephole.

No one was outside.

"No one," the person reported.

"Then get back to work. You keep watch at the door," Howard said.

But as the person continued to watch, there was another knock.

This time, it wasn't the front door but a side room door.

"What's going on?" Everyone was shocked, looking towards the room door.

"The room was checked before, there shouldn't be anyone."

"No, I heard footsteps, someone's walking inside."

"This doesn't seem good, could we be unlucky enough to encounter a ghost?" Someone asked, fear creeping into their voice.

Hearing the word "ghost," everyone's heart skipped a beat.

They dared to deal with Ghost Handlers because they were still human, with reason and weaknesses. But dealing with ghosts? No way.

Ghosts killed without reason.

"A supernatural event? Are we really so unlucky to encounter such a rare occurrence?" Howard's face turned grim. "Everyone leave here, forget Ethan for now, let the ghost kill him. We can leave safely, don't panic." "Got it." The others didn't dare stay, preparing to open the door and leave.

However, the person opening the door turned pale. "It can't be opened, the door's locked."

No matter how hard he tried, the door lock seemed unresponsive, not budging at all.

"Move aside, I'll break the lock." Another person rushed up with tools to force the door open. But at that moment, a soft click came.

The room door handle slowly turned, something inside was opening the door.

Immediately, everyone's heart was in their throat.

"It's over!" someone already felt despair.

They had dealt with Ghost Handlers before and knew how terrifying real ghosts were.

"Did I hear someone mention me?" a voice came suddenly.

The next moment, the door opened and Michael, looking curious, poked his head out and then walked in.
