Ultimate Evolution I Became the Master of the World -
Chapter 74 The Ghost Handler's Revenge
"Everything sorted?" a weak voice piped up.
Ethan, sprawled on the floor, glanced at the fading group led by Howard, then turned to Michael, looking a bit surprised.
"Don't even start. You're really useless, huh? A Ghost Handler getting his butt kicked like that," Michael said, lounging on the couch. "Can you untie me first?" Ethan asked.
"Hold on. I need to calm down the ghost inside me. Touching your blood might set it off," Michael replied, closing his eyes.
He could feel the eyes inside him squirming, something creepy brewing.
That feeling meant the ghost was waking up.
'The red paper's toast unless I can grab that red newspaper from the ghost again. But replaceing a hidden ghost in a city is like replaceing a needle in a haystack, and who knows if it's still in Astoria,' Michael thought, eyeing the shredded red paper. The red paper hit the ground, useless, and crumbled like ash.
'The newspaper's just a tool. The ghost's power in it is what kept the demon's eye in check. But now it's too weak, so after a few uses, it's done for,' Michael's eyes flickered, 'Guess Howard was right.'
'A ghost can suppress another ghost, like how Ethan can handle that headless ghost shadow. But there's still some wild card,' he mused.
Suddenly, a sharp pain tore through his chest, and a scarlet eye emerged, the seventh one on his body.
"You're not starting now, are you?" Ethan said, seeing Michael in pain. "Even if the ghost's waking up, untie me. I don't want to deal with your ghost."
Sweating and panting, Michael said, "I won't die yet. But the limit I set is busted. The ghost inside me is waking up faster. Probably within a month."
A ghost that could create a Ghost Realm was no joke.
How many times had he used the Ghost Realm?
He could count on one hand, but even those few times had made the red paper useless and another Demon's Eye had grown out.
Next, the revival speed would only get worse.
"Sorry, if it weren't for my screw-up, you wouldn't be in this mess," Ethan said, feeling guilty.
Because of him, Michael had to use his power one more time.
"Don't say that. It's not your fault. Coming here and using the power was my call. I'm an adult; I gotta own up," Michael said, getting up.
He grabbed the baton on the ground and pried out the nails pinning Ethan's hands.
"Besides, if I don't go looking for trouble, trouble replaces me. Taking care of Howard and his crew now saves us a headache later. If he got my family to threaten me, things would be way worse," he explained. Michael pulled out the last nail, and Ethan was free.
"So, what's the plan?" Ethan asked.
He stood up, blood oozing from his wounds, but they were healing fast.
Michael glanced at Ethan, noting the special ability of his ghost blood. No wonder Howard's brutal beating didn't kill him.
"I need to check out your club and make a few calls," Michael said, suddenly placing a phone on the table.
It was Howard's phone.
"And I'm not sparing anyone on this contact list. I won't leave any enemies who could harm my family in the future. Most of the contacts on Howard's phone are likely people in this industry. Even if a few of them are innocent, it doesn't matter," Michael's expression was cold, his eyes showing a faint red glow.
"Better to kill wrongly than to let go. If these pests aren't eradicated, our families will suffer," Michael said firmly.
Ethan was a bit surprised. "How can we manage that? In our current state, who knows how many more times we can use the ghost's power."
He could see that Michael was increasingly influenced by the ghost.
But he didn't oppose Michael's almost brutal method. After all, Howard struck first and the mastermind wasn't dead yet.
Although Michael's plan was good, it was very difficult to execute.
Michael said, "I know a ghost, quite terrifying. I plan to let that ghost kill the people on this phone's contact list. If they can survive the ghost's attack, then they're lucky."
"You've mastered that ghost's behavior?" Ethan was shocked.
"More or less," Michael said.
Ethan took a deep breath, looking at him in shock.
He didn't expect Michael to have such a secret. Having a Ghost Realm was already terrifying, and he could also use other ghosts to do his bidding.
"But the phone is locked with a password," Michael said, opening the phone, which prompted for a password.
"What now?" Ethan asked.
Michael said, "It doesn't matter. I know a guy at a phone store who can probably unlock it. I'll handle this. You go contact the buyer."
"Wait, are you really planning to sell this ghost? Howard said that handling two ghosts might extend the revival time. This headless ghost was hard to catch. Why not keep it and try?" Ethan suddenly reminded.
"I've thought about it. I don't plan to really sell it. I plan to sell a fake," Michael suddenly said, "This isn't about making money. It's about using this opportunity to access things we can't normally reach."
"Howard's method is just a rough idea, lacking specific details. You wouldn't be so reckless as to try it with the headless ghost, would you? If the headless ghost takes over your body, it would not only be released but also control the ghost inside you. You'd be indirectly nurturing a more terrifying ghost," Michael explained.
"I didn't think that far," Ethan said, a bit embarrassed.
"If someone succeeded, there must be someone study it. If someone studied it, they must have found some patterns. With patterns, there are solutions. The ghost we have is bait, a bargaining chip to get a concrete plan. Although our time is limited, it's not that urgent yet," After speaking, Michael looked at him and said, "When can you contact the buyer at the earliest?"
"Tomorrow night," Ethan said.
"Alright, tomorrow night. I'll wait for your call," Michael replied.
Michael put away the baton and Howard's gun, then immediately left.
Before leaving, he reminded, "If you get caught again, don't mention you know me. Inform others to collect your body."
