Chapter 144

Yvette could only stare at the sea of begonias from a distance. "I didn't know they were still there," she muttered.

Ray followed her gaze before his eyes landed on the flowers. How beautiful!

The place looked old, but the layout looked well-thought-out. The person who had designed the building had clearly put a great deal of thought into it. "This is..." He couldn't help but ask.

"My childhood home in Tirion, Yvette replied. It was a shame that she wasn't allowed to even step foot in there anymore.

"Let's go." She averted her gaze.

The car slowly drove away. She didn't notice the man hiding among the bushes. He was slightly disheveled and had been secretly looking at the place all this time.

After she made some rounds in the city, Yvette told Ray to take her back to Dewberry Manor. Afterward, she stayed in the music room and composed with the aid of the piano. The bodyguard reported her day's activities to Xavier.

At night, Xavier remained in the office until later than usual. At around 9:00 pm, he asked his driver to take him to Junction Cafe.

At the same time, Yvette had also departed Dewberry Manor and was currently on her way to the cafe. She picked up her phone after it buzzed. It was a text from Ray. "Xavier's car is also heading toward the cafe.

Before she had returned to Dewberry Manor, she had asked Ray to camp outside Lane Group to see where Xavier went tonight.

She wasn't surprised to discover that Daphne was still the same tattletale she had been

before.

The cafe was relatively empty at this hour. Daphne had made a reservation for a private room. The room had a window that offered a view of the street outside.

Yvette arrived on time. She had a cardigan draped over her body to cover up the rashes from her allergic reaction.

Even if she didn't have a rash, she would still carry a jacket with her if she was outside for extended periods of time. She was afraid of the cold, even in the summer. Yvette was completely different from how she had been when Daphne had returned to Tirion

years ago.

Her complexion and appearance were stunning. Her physique had also reverted to its state prior to the wedding. She looked refined and left a memorable impression on those around her, Daphne was slightly envious of her.

Even though Yara was a horrible mother, Yvette had inherited her stunning looks and figure. Given that she was the daughter of a famous dancer, it didn't come as a surprise.

"Take a seat, Yvvy." Daphne suppressed the bitterness she felt and subtly placed her phone on the table. She was already on a phone call with Xavier. He was outside the cafe and could

hear their conversation.

Yvette pulled the chair out and took a seat.

Then, Daphne took out a check for 100 million dollars. "I know you told me you'd leave Xav for ten billion dollars, but I don't think I can get such a large sum of money.

"Even if I managed to do so, I don't think it's right for me to give it to you either. Xav isn't some commodity you can sell off whenever you want to. Just take this check for now- consider it financial aid from me to you."

On the other end of the phone, Xavier was sitting in the car and listening to Daphne's words. His eyebrows were tightly knitted together.

Yvette had asked Daphne for ten billion dollars? She was going to sell him off?

The sheer audacity of this woman!

He continued to listen in. If Yvette actually accepted the money, he would storm over immediately and take her back to Dewberry Manor. She could dream of being free in her next

life!

However, she pushed the check aside and asked Daphne, "Weren't you the one who aske me to name my price? Why are you giving me a number on your own now?"

Daphne froze. When had she ever said that?

Yvette continued, "I told you explicitly that I don't need your damned money. Despite having benefited from my family, you didn't offer us a single cent when we were going bankrupt. Why are you trying to act generous now?"

Daphne stared at her in shock. "But you're the one who-"

"Let me repeat myself-Xavier and I are still married. Even if he doesn't love me, I will never leave him!"

Yvette's eyes fell on the phone on the table. She guessed that Daphne was probably on call with Xavier.

On the other hand, Daphne realized that she was being set up. Fuming, she discreetly picked up her phone and hung up.

In the black Cadillac, Xavier took in the entire conversation in silence. Then, he turned to his driver and said, "Let's go home."
