Chapter 159

Yvette couldn't believe that her love for him, which spanned so many years, was being described as

worthless".

She had never felt cheaper than this.

"You're right. I do think it's worthless now."

The veins on Xavier's forehead bulged, and his eyes reddened as he pressed her head against his chest.

Yvette took deep breaths, feeling like she was suffocating.

Wanting to hear her apologize, Xavier refused to let her go. But Yvette was stubborn and refused to do it.

Once she decided that she liked someone, she wouldn't turn back even if she hit a wall. Similarly, now that she had made up her mind, she wouldn't apologize easily.

Yvette's health wasn't good to begin with. Xavier's actions made her breathing gradually weaken.

Xavier quickly let go of her when he noticed this. However, he kissed her again before she could catch

her breath.

Yvette's gaze faltered, and her mind went blank. When her mind started to clear, Xavier had already

removed most of her clothes.

With her back against the cold wall, she realized what was happening and pleaded, "Wait! Can we wait a few days?"

"Why should we?" Xavier demanded. Lately, he had clearly felt that Yvette wanted to be intimate with him. Why was she refusing him now?

Yvette thought for a moment before lying. "My period hasn't ended yet."

Upon hearing this, Xavier restrained himself and stopped, then held her and lay down on the bed.

Yvette hadn't expected him to believe her. Upon seeing his reaction, she felt her tense body slightly relax. She thought Xavier would stop, but he still held her tightly. Perhaps she had been exhausted that day, so she succumbed to sleep before long. As Xavier listened to her even breathing, he took off her hearing aid.

But he still couldn't fall asleep.

"How could you fall out of love?" he asked softly.

When Yvette woke up the next day, Xavier was no longer beside her.

While she was washing up, she looked in the mirror and noticed her neck was covered in purple-red

marks.

They were the marks Xavier had left on her last night.

She tried to cover them with foundation, but it wasn't enough. With no other option, she wore a high- collared shirt and let her hair down to cover them.

After getting ready, Yvette walked out and saw Xavier sitting in the living room, reading some documents.

"We're going to the office today," he stated.

"I want to rest," Yvette said. She actually wanted to go to the hospital to check when would be the best time for her to get pregnant.

Xavier looked up at her. "I think it's better if you come with me," he mentioned meaningfully.

Hence, Yvette had to postpone her hospital visit. Her period had already ended, and in six days, it would be her ovulation period. If possible, she wanted to conceive then. "Let's go.

Before heading to the office, Xavier insisted that Yvette have breakfast. Yvette had no appetite, but since he was watching her, she finished the whole plate.

When they got to the office, they found that Mark had arrived way before them.

Mark seemed slightly awkward and nervous when he saw Yvette. "Mr. Lane, everything is arranged."

Yvette, who was standing next to Xavier, didn't know what Mark was talking about.

When she followed Xavier into his office, she immediately saw the tall, well-dressed Claude in a sharp

suit

His face was stern, and his charming eyes were comparable to those of a movie star.

Xavier was equally impressive, and when they stood together, it was hard to tell who was more distinguished.

Yvette couldn't help but recall Xavier's words from the previous night about ruining all of Claude projects in the country.

If Claude went back abroad, would he even survive?
