After an unknown amount of time, Yvette finally spoke. "Xavier, it's almost Christmas."

"Yeah."

"Viola's gone..." She gripped Xavier's shirt tightly.

He tightened his grip around her. Since he wasn't good at comforting someone, he kissed her forehead. Yvette thought she was done crying. However, she still broke down at that moment, and the tears began to fall again.

"It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, she wouldn't have looked for Yara at all, let alone..."

"Viola left a letter for you and asked Mrs. Wellington to bring it here," said Xavier.

She looked up at him. "Where is it?"

He got up and opened the drawer of the bedside table. Then, he passed a letter to Yvette.

She hurriedly opened it and saw the message on it.

"Yvvy, if you're reading this, it means I'm no longer with you. Don't be sad. This is my fate. Do you still remember what I said last time? We all have to die eventually, so I'm not scared at all. I just hope I can do something for you before I'm gone. The doctor has told me I only have a few days to live.

"I know I can never win in a fight with Yara, so the only solution I can come up with is sending her to jail. That way, she can never bully you again. Also, please don't blame me for pretending to be your mother. You're like a daughter to me."

Finally, the letter ended with, "Allow me to be shameless this time, and let's be actual mother and daughter in the next life, alright?"

Yvette read the letter repeatedly, and it felt like her heart was being torn apart.

"So, that was what happened." She finally understood Viola's plans.

Viola had left the letter behind to tell Yvette the truth. She figured Yvette could use the letter if the latter didn't want Yara to be in jail. She also didn't want Yvette to feel upset about her death and have a long-lasting grudge. Yvette tightened her grip on the letter. "Xavier, I'm in so much pain right now..."

"Everything will be alright." Xavier comforted her.

A day after Viola's incident, the news started to report about a retired dancer being locked up after killing someone. Yandell Group's stocks fell greatly as well.

Yvette didn't see the news as she was busy preparing for Viola's funeral.

Viola was single throughout her life and didn't have any relatives. Since she didn't like being in lively places she didn't have many friends as well. Yvette only invited the few friends

that Viola talked with most of the

time.

It was snowing greatly during the funeral. Yvette dressed appropriately as she hosted the funeral. Noah followed her around, and Xavier was there as well. Yvette watched as Viola was buried, and the snow covered the grave in no time.

When the funeral was over, Viola's friends comforted Yvette. "My condolences."

After she saw them off, she told Noah and Xavier to go home first. She wanted to stay by Viola's side for a while longer. Xavier knew she needed to mourn by herself, so he took Noah home. Narugi

Yvette just stood by the grave as the snow covered her body. It seemed like she didn't feel the cold at all.

"Mom, why were you so silly? Why didn't you tell me about it earlier? I have so many regrets now. Why didn't I insist on being with you?"

She talked to herself for a while, and her hair was covered almost entirely in snow, making it white. Just as her face was turning pale, an umbrella suddenly appeared above her.

Yvette slowly looked up and saw an aloof man in a black coat.

"Why are you standing in the snow by yourself? If she knew about it, she'd be heartbroken," Jeremiah said gently.
