Today, Lane Mansion was livelier than ever before.

Malcolm's little face turned red as he angrily pointed at Noah.

The others exchanged glances, shocked that Marlene had said such things to the child in private.

Marlene felt embarrassed. "Malcolm, don't talk nonsense. I only said that Uncle Xav's wife isn't around, so they don't have children."

Malcolm, a mere child, couldn't fathom the complexities of adult conversation. He promptly countered, "That's not true. Mom, didn't you say before that Uncle Xav wasn't normal and couldn't have children?" Marlene wished she could smack her son. "You misheard me."

Malcolm didn't care. He ran to Clifford, grabbing his hand. "Great-Grandpa, chase this feral boy away. He's not one of us at all. He's only here to swindle me out of my rightful inheritance."

He pointed menacingly at Noah. "I'm the future heir of the Lanes! Don't even think about it. I'll kill you if you try! Believe me!"

Noah's mouth was covered as he watched Malcolm, the brat, wreak havoc. His eyes were filled with disdain.

Zachary had been right. Malcolm was nothing more than a four-year-old brat. What a lack of competitiveness!

While Noah may have shrugged off Malcolm's words, it was a different story for the other adults.

Clifford was stunned. He'd always known that Malcolm was mischievous. But he was shocked to hear the latter utter such a threat. And all this talk about heirs-there was no way a four-year-old could know such things. Clifford's anger flared as he turned to Zayden and Marlene. "What the hell did you teach your son?"

The gravity of the situation finally dawned on Zayden and Marlene. The latter grabbed Malcolm and covered his mouth.

Leaning on his cane, Clifford ordered, "Get him out of my sight!"

"Right away!"

To Malcolm's astonishment, Clifford,

who had always spoiled him, suddenly became furious. Clifford was so harsh today and even wanted to drive him away

His eyes narrowed dangerously as he looked at Noah while he was being dragged away.

After that little hiccup, everyone carried on with their insincere congratulations.

Yet, Clifford and Shannon were genuinely happy about having a new descendant.

"Your father just left the country today. If he'd left a bit later, he could've seen Noah too," Shannon said with a smile to Xavier.

"Alright, you can put the boy down now. It must be uncomfortable to carry him like that."

Xavier was afraid Noah might say something inappropriate again and didn't release him. Instead, he said, "We have some matters to attend to, so we'll head back to rest now."

Noah bit him harder. He'd be damned if he let his bastard father have his way!

Xavier's hand was bleeding, but he didn't flinch. After speaking, he carried Noah out without waiting for Shannon and the others to respond. The others all stepped aside to let him pass.

Yvette followed the father-son duo in silence, her hands and feet numb with cold.

Finally, they reached a place where no one else was around. Yvette was about to ask how Xavier knew about Noah when Xavier let him go. "Mr. Xavier, how can you lie and say I'm your son? I'm Claude's son!"

Yvette grew even more puzzled.

Xavier got straight to the point and asked bluntly, "Should I tell everyone I'm raising another man's son?"

Noah gave a sly smile, then looked at Yvette pitifully. "Mom, look at how Mr. Xavier talks to me!"

Xavier was taken aback. He hadn't realized that Yvette had been following them all along. He'd assumed that she was waiting outside.
