Unclaimed Luna’s Desire
Chapter 25 The Shadow of the Wolf

Ellie's POV:

Weslin placed me in his office and poured me a cup of hot cocoa.

The warmth of the fireplace gradually warmed up my cold skin, and I finally breathed a sigh of relief. Weslin squatted down and comforted me gently, "It's okay, Ellie. We are out now, and you are safe."

I nodded and took a sip of the sweet hot cocoa.

The warm liquid flowed down my throat into my stomach, warming my whole body.

"Thank you, Professor Desire." My eyes still had traces of recent tears, making me look particularly pitiful.

Weslin took out a handkerchief and gently wiped away the tears on my cheeks.

"I haven't seen you since you left with Aelros last time. I don't know how you've been these days. If you want, you can come back anytime." Weslin held my hand gently, his face with golden-rimmed glasses looking especially approachable. "I have kept all your belongings intact at home."

I didn't expect Weslin to be so considerate, even after I abandoned him.

Not only did he help me escape William's bullying, but he also kept my things intact.

This was a level of respect I had never received in my foster parents' home.

I was grateful to him."Aelros has been taking good care of me, and I need his help during this time, so I must stay with him." After a moment's thought, I added, "Aelros hasn't harmed me, so there's no need to worry." Weslin's demeanor toward Aelros seemed less hostile than it had been the last time I saw him.

He nodded, wanting to advise me but ultimately respecting my decision. "I'm glad you have Aelros to protect you, but I will always protect you too. You can contact me anytime if you need anything."

"Thank you so much, Professor Desire. Every time I encounter such situations, you always lend a helping hand." I said shyly, lowering my head. "I sent you a message before coming here, but I happened to run into William who stayed in the classroom."

Weslin was surprised and apologetic. "I didn't see the message and didn't realize I had caused such serious consequences for you. When I noticed William wasn't in class, I returned to the classroom to replace him. I can't believe how much worse things could have been if I hadn't come back."

I knew it wasn't Weslin's fault; my carelessness had given William the opportunity to bully me.It had nothing to do with Weslin, and I didn't want him to feel guilty.

I reached out to hold Weslin's hand and explained, "Professor Desire, I don't blame you at all! What happened has nothing to do with you. On the contrary, I'm grateful for your help."

Weslin looked at my hand steadily and remained silent for a while.

Realizing my impolite gesture, I exclaimed and withdrew my hand from his, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to overstep."

He shook his head, not showing any anger but instead smiling at me. "Ellie, I'm glad you accepted me."

My cheeks instantly flushed, and I redirected the conversation to the main topic. "I need your help deciding whether I should go to the altar soon to prepare for my transformation day. Since I don't have other family members to bless me, I plan to go to the altar alone."Weslin pushed his golden glasses and solemnly suggested, "You can try to transform first, and I will help you determine."

I nodded and closed my eyes.

As I attempted to transform, I felt intense pain in my muscles and bones, and my skin began to bleed. The process was excruciating, making it nearly impossible for me to open my eyes.

I struggled to grow fur and even feared that my bones were contorting. It became clear that I had failed to complete the transformation.

When I finally managed to open my eyes, I was met with an expression of surprise in Weslin's gaze.

Before I could ask, Weslin interrupted me.

He touched my head and said, "Congratulations. You are about to have your own wolf. During your transformation, I saw the shadow of your wolf, still asleep. I believe it won't be long before you can successfully awaken it." Upon hearing Weslin's words, I leaped for joy. The prospect of finally having my own wolf, which meant so much to me, filled me with immense happiness.

I was no longer the person others had labeled as a waste!

"This is amazing! This is the best gift for me!" I hugged Weslin, feeling joy enveloping me, not even realizing what I had done.

It wasn't until my emotions calmed down that I realized how offensive my actions were.

My torn clothes exposed my chest when I hugged Weslin, and I even suspected that my skin had touched his.

I gasped and quickly stepped away from Weslin. Rather than reacting with anger to my rudeness, he tactfully helped adjust my coat. He never once let his gaze linger on me.

I recognized it as a sign of respect.

Weslin was unlike anyone else in the pack. He showed me respect and cared for me, never demeaning me for lacking a wolf.

This was also why I had never been swayed by Aelros. Weslin was too kind and gentlemanly to be a bad person.

"I'm glad to see you so lively; this is also a great gift for me." Weslin smiled gently at me and said, "Do you need more hot cocoa?"

Now, I just hoped time would pass more quickly. If tomorrow were the full moon, it would be perfect. I couldn't wait to ascend the altar and receive the Moon Goddess' blessings. Although I couldn't have the company of parents like other children and I knew my foster parents wouldn't come to bless me at the altar, I still looked forward to my transformation. I had waited for this day for too long.

I shook my head at him and shared my plan. "I will go to the altar before the next full moon. I can't wait to receive the blessings of the Moon Goddess." Whether I could truly have a wolf would be revealed on the full moon day.

I longed for my foster parents to see me with a wolf, to regret their mistreatment, and to take action against William and others who had bullied me. 'Moon Goddess, please make me successfully have my own wolf.' I prayed silently on the way back to Aelros' apartment.
